  1. Would be fun to turn around the horrific ineptitude the Cubs have had against the Brewers the last couple years
  2. And then a Hoerner HR. Please keep the pessimism coming Irrelevant Dude!
  3. Japanese players making their MLB debuts with the Cubs against Milwaukee at Wrigley Field on Opening Day: 4-4, 2 BB, 1.000/1.000/2.667/3.667
  4. More than a couple decades even... Durham, Grace, Lee, Rizzo I always forget Durham was a good defensive player because....well you know
  5. We've been blessed with mostly solid defensive 1B for the last couple decades. That is not the case this year.
  6. Schwindel runs saved: -1 (I know I know they werent going to turn 2)
  7. Madrigal did not look like the hitter I was told to expect in that AB Guess I spoke too soon on Burnes not having it today, that was pretty dominating.
  8. You can see the exact moment he started advocating for right-wing political issues
  9. I'd be willing to bet heavy money that when he signed with the Cubs they tried to make swing changes to unlock that untapped power and apparently screwed him up permanently in doing so. It was in fact reported at the time that the Cubs believed they could make changes to unlock his power. If you recall, they tried to do the same thing with Starlin Castro and it completely tanked his performance for 2+ seasons I wonder why the Cubs have had such a difficult time developing prospects
  10. 399 more groundouts to the right side to go
  11. It's becoming clear that Burnes doesnt look like he has it today. (please don't come back to bite me)
  12. 1st of many times I briefly think 'where are we at in the order, will this walk bring the pitcher up?'
  13. He had like a .900+ OPS against RHP last year so he's as good a bet as any in that situation until he proves otherwise .721 OPS for his career which roughly half of his career PAs came last year. Like I said, ok fine start him, but not sure why he has to hit leadoff.
  14. Unprecendented Cubs coverage apparently doesn't include at alternate angle of a fly ball down the line at your home ballpark. Good stuff Marquee
  15. Ortega starting? ok fine whatever. But hitting leadoff?
  16. https://theathletic.com/3235669/2022/04/07/inside-the-recruiting-pitch-to-seiya-suzuki-virtual-reality-yu-darvishs-influence-and-a-vision-for-the-next-great-cubs-team/ Article about the Cubs recruitment of Suzuki
  17. It's winnable for sure but I'm not sure what to expect from this team. I don't mean that in a negative way, I'm just saying that I could see this team flounder from the start or be surprisingly decent. I think if they can stay within 3 games of a playoff spot by the deadline we'll make some moves and better our chances of making it. As cheap and as stupid as PTR is, I do believe he will open the checkbook at least a bit if there's something to play for.
  18. Yeah it should. Tomorrow's is probably gonna get banged, but I don't think it's going to do more than sprinkle today It'll be one of those miserable "rains enough to make everyone cold and wet, but not enough to postpone" games. I'll be shocked if Wrigley is even at half capacity by the 7th. Brewers fans are already making jokes on Twitter about the game being called because the Cubs cancel games against the Brewers even when its not raining.
  19. Heyward is definitely starting 130+ games this year if he stays healthy. He's Rossy's guy...the kind of benefit you get when you upgrade someone's hotel rooms to suites for every game of their final season.
  20. The Bulls have now allowed more points than they've scored this season. What a collapse
  21. I hate to admit it but I lost any emotional attachment to this team a few games ago. The last time the Bulls made the playoffs I think I watched like 10 minutes total. Feeling the same way this year
  22. I'm calling [expletive] here. Yesterday the Ricketts were called out by a national media guy for fielding an inferior team on the cheap. This is a bogus story fed to friendly media by an ownership group who are about to field a 70 win team on $140M payroll with the 3rd highest ticket prices in baseball. If Boars didn't give Correa this information he would be subject to disbarment and civil litigation. Who was the national guy calling out Ricketts? I live for good Ricketts hating
  23. i bumped the 5 year old victor thread to discuss this important news lol
