  1. Outscored opponents 183-24 this year, 2 P5 teams (albeit Colorado is terrible and MSU may not be better) Looking at their schedule, Iowa is at home but Penn State and Wisconsin are both at home. I can see 10-2 or maybe 11-1 if they can pull off a road win. Maybe I’m jumping the gun. They looked good today though.
  2. I'm shocked at how little scoring there has been in that game Weird. 20 points in the first quarter, 10 the next 2. Feel bad for those that slammed the over
  3. Well Michigans defense looks terrible so far and they look shell shocked playing Maryland. You may end up being right derwood
  4. Really we're having phenomenal luck with 1 run games. 14-8 in 1 run games since July 17, 8-18 before that. This is the 2nd 4 game win streak with all wins being by 1 run in the last 5 weeks.
  5. Michigan is favored over Maryland by 17 and 80% of the money is still going towards Michigan so....maybe not. Kinnick next week is the test. First road game against a great defense. Feel free to bump this post if Michigan unexpectedly has a very close win or loses. I don’t think they’ll lose, but Maryland loves chucking the ball and can put up a lot of points. They did last year too and Michigan won 59-18 in College Park. Different Michigan defense and as you implied untested but playing at home Michigan shouldn't have an issue (Boy I'm giving myself a lot of potential crow to eat)

  7. They probably should have at least given him a QO, eh? #-o why the heck didn't they do that? Makes no sense
  8. Our leading receiving TE is out Sunday (Ryan Griffin), Velus Jones is doubtful, Roquan and Jaylen Johnson are questionable. Dammit Velus needs to get healthy and play.
  9. God. I remember those days. WTF I can't even believe that happened, even now. Not to defend the Bears per se, but that used to be more common. The GM role also changed a lot in the past 30 years and became highly player personnel/scouting focused with the advent of the salary cap in the mid 90s. But I don't think the Bears were the last team to adopt a GM title (or reestablish, after firing Finks). A funny alternative history maybe exists where Michael doesn't eff up the McGinnis hiring and stays on as Pres until 2011, when George replaced him. Phillips never becomes CEO and they operate old-school with no GM even longer than they did. But Michael gets demoted and Phillips first big moves as CEO/Pres are the Soldier Field deal and hiring Angelo as GM. Angelo then tries recruiting Saban who turns him down mostly because he wanted GM duties. IIRC, Lovie was seen as like 3rd choice behind Saban and someone else. Fun sequence of events leading to a failed McGinnis hiring and then the best stretch of the Bears in the past 30 years. This made me look back because I don't remember that coaching search too well. Looks like the Bears interviewed Saban, Lovie, Jim Mora Jr, Romeo Crennel, Mike Nolan and Russ Grimm.
  10. Going to be a really interesting offseason for them. They had the 6th highest payroll in the league this year which is pretty significant for the Sox. They tanked for 4 years to get a core that has given them 2 playoff wins in 3 years. Maybe TLR “retiring” helps spark something but in reality they need to shake up their core. Just about every key position player besides Abreu (who is 36) had a disappointing season. It’s probably still salvageable but it won’t be a breeze for them. They tried to copy the Cubs tanking plan and so far have gotten little out of it
  11. No worries I feel the same way. I realize that many many athletes are likely think similarly but it bothers me that he’s so vocal about it.
  12. who is the promising rookie safety? Brisker was a 2nd
  13. This makes sense to me. 11 attempts, 3 sacks, 3 scrambles, 1 penalty for throwing ahead of the LOS, maybe 1 RPO opting into a pass. Given how well the run game was performing, a 50/50 split seems fair. Yes the Packers were up big which normally leads to more passing but the Bears were gashing them on that 4th quarter drive with the run and were an inch from being down 7 with plenty of time to get a stop and another drive. The problem is the number of overall offensive plays. 41 offensive snaps is really low and is almost as much on the defense being unable to stop the run (leading to less overall possessions) as it is the offense being unable to get a 1st down.
  14. If anyone feels like watching some analysis from offensive all 22's from last week:
  15. Always some kind of crazy drama in the NBA
  16. Cubs win. Keegan back Cubs need to go 6-7 to win 70 games though I suspect many of us would prefer 0-13
  17. lol the Cubs managed to score 3 runs on 0 hits to take the lead Walk Walk Error Fielders choice Sac fly
  18. This doesn't surprise me at all. mentally I have been expecting to not see Lonzo until January at the earliest. If the surgery is 7 days from now and he's re-evaluated in 4-6 weeks that would put his re-evaluation in November. Even if he's cleared then, he'll probably need a few more weeks to get into basketball shape.
  19. Haven't seen any all 22 breakdowns of Fields performance in week 2. Guessing no one wants to touch that one as there are not a ton of positives to mix in with the negatives. I did see this though:
  20. He caters to the meatheads. He's your basic misogynistic, frat boy type always trying to prove how masculine he is 24/7. He's just a miserable horsefeathers who stirs the pot for clicks while providing nothing of any real substance. Not to mention has some serious sexual misconduct allegation lawsuits. Or did...not sure if they were settled
  21. Was that the Mark Hatley era? Mark Hatley then Jerry Angelo then Phil Emery then Ryan Pace. To think that Angelo was the best of the bunch.
  22. Passing on Randy Moss because he overslept for an interview and taking an unhinged RB instead. Sidenote: that was the same year ed lynch decided not to trade todd noel and jon garland for mike piazza (something like that, maybe pat cline was in there too) and then 2 months later traded them for felix heredia and matt karchner and don't forget the rick mirer trade right before that 98 debacle everyone had stupid FO's back then but ours were HOF stupid The Rick Mirer trade was easily one of the most head scratching moves I've ever seen in sports history. I only vaguely remember the trade when it happened but looking back on his numbers before the trade and I cant even begin to make a coherent argument in favor of even considering that trade.
  23. This is the exact type of game the Bears usually find a way to scratch out, but man oh man would I be nervous picking this Bears offense at this point in time. If you feel you have to use the Bears, then this is the game to use them. Their easiest games after this are on the road (NYG, ATL, NYJ). Easiest remaining home game is either Washington or Detroit. Washington is on a short week and Detroit looks frisky.
  24. NFL+ with a VPN? tell me more eta: I usually have to try and pirate it Honestly I've never used a VPN before but I'm sure you can find one with a free trial or just free online. NFL+ allows you to watch all local games on phones/smart TVs. You can get a free 7 day trial (I think its still available), after that its $5 a month. VPN allows the computer to think you are located in Chicago, thus the NFL+ games available to you including the Bears game.
  25. NFL+ with a VPN?
