  1. Cubs fall to 4-21 all time against the Yankees. 4-13 in inter league play, 0-8 in playoffs
  2. Should have known that a format that requires you to score runs with a runner on 2nd and 0 outs was going to be bad for the Cubs
  3. Rizzo predictably HBP his first PA
  4. this is exactly it. no one expected a ton out of Frazier but there is no downside to keeping him. Heyward is aging and has had an OPS+ over 100 just 1 time in the last 7 seasons. Frazier is 27 and has actually hit well prior to last year when he was suffering from vertigo. You can rip on Frazier's defense but his dWAR is literally identical to Heyward's this season at -0.1, albeit with Heyward eating more innings. At an age of decline, atrocious hitting, below average fielding...I just don't get it except Heyward is a great guy that upgraded Ross to suites his final season.
  5. He's under control for longer than Frazier. Have to find out what we have here and if he will be part of the Next Great Cubs Team TM
  6. Rizzo and Happ hanging out at Jomboy offices today
  7. Do people actually browse the forum by going into individual subforums?
  8. Getting this started early. Sucks that this series isn't a Wrigley but will be interesting to see Rizzo playing the Cubs. Definitely seems like a guy that will tee off on his former team but we'll see.
  9. Fitting that the Sox ended up losing by 2
  10. I'm not sure if the lip reading confirms the tweet but I like to imagine that's what he said lol
  11. Holy horsefeathers....this is like Trump-level senility only in baseball. Might this be the straw that breaks the camel's back for TLR? I legitimately don't mind the White Sox at all anymore so I wouldn't hate it if they hired a new manager that would turn things around for them, but at the same time this horsefeathers is just hilarious and I want it to keep coming.
  12. Nothing to see here, just our QB hitting bombs at Wrigley
  13. There has to be a direct connection between Heyward upgrading Ross to a suite for every road trip in his last season and Ross' continually putting Heyward in the lineup right? He has the lowest OPS+ of his career and is now a negative WAR player defensively (it's the same as Frazier, the most likely candidate to take his role and he's been terrible). I know its a small sample size but his age and track record don't exactly tell us that this has to be a fluke.
  14. The Cubs destroyed the league for 2 1/2 months in 2016, went 5-15 and people* were freaking out. *No judgement on anyone as, without going back and looking, it's entirely possible I was one of those people. I openly mused to friends during that stretch that I might be a monster for raising my then-unborn son a Cubs fan (he couldn't give less of a crap about baseball or any sport as a spectator, so this probably won't end up being a thing), which qualifies as the most insane sports-fan overreaction of my entire life. At least the experience of overreacting to that stretch and then going on to win the World Series taught us to not overreact to the ups and downs of a season right?
  15. Yeah I think he means the latter. Also the 1987 Brewers did this so the stat is wrong. The Brewers were 20-3 and then lost 12 in a row. https://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/MIL/1987-schedule-scores.shtml He meant that to be 10 games over .500 then lose 12 straight to be under .500. Like Brewers were still over .500 after that 12 game losing streak. Well that’s a stupid stat then and misleading because that’s not what the tweet says
  16. Ouch Keegan was due for a bad outing but to the Orioles?
  17. The Cubs almost did this last year. They were 9 over .500 right before losing 11 straight. They were 11 over .500 a few games earlier but I don’t know if he means 10 over immediately before losing 12 straight. Yeah I think he means the latter. Also the 1987 Brewers did this so the stat is wrong. The Brewers were 20-3 and then lost 12 in a row. https://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/MIL/1987-schedule-scores.shtml
  18. Damn. I know they've underachieved during his time there and that they are on a 12 game losing streak but its still kind of surprising to me that he was fired. Like almost everything the 2016 Cubs touched, his career has taken a nosedive
  19. Not sure how I feel about Gobert rumors. It feels a little like signing Ben Wallace. I know, they are different players and at different stages of their careers, and this current team needs a defensive anchor much more than the 06 Bulls did, but its a lot of money and trade pieces for an elite defensive center. If you make this move you are basically saying that Gobert is the missing piece for a championship run. Assuming LaVine signs the max you are riding with DeRozan, LaVine, Gobert as your big 3 the next 2 seasons and probably don't have much flexibility to drastically alter things beyond that. Advanced stats show he is truly a difference-maker, and he solves 2 of the 3 biggest Bulls deficiencies in defense and a big man (3rd being high volume shooter). A big man who can defend is even more important in the east with Embiid and Giannis standing in the way. I guess if you are going to ride with this talented but somewhat flawed group (instead of blowing it up), then its a defensible move, but I'm not sure it will bring the Bulls a title or even legitimate contention in the East.
  20. Javy's HR at 43:34 is hilarious, I completely forgot he hit the catcher in the head with his bat on the backswing and then apologized as the ball was heading towards the bleachers.
  21. I don't disagree at all but...shots fired
