I noticed yesterday that Mastrobuoni has a total of 1 RBI in 78 PA this year. That projects to 8 RBI (rounded up) over a 600 PA season. Edit: And that 1 RBI came on April 4th

Damn there really are a lot of them. Makes me wonder if I should start my mental searching each day by thinking about former Cubs that may have played for the other 2 teams.

Trying to guess which ones you were referring to. I got: Rarity score of 30 today and it wasn't even that hard with the former Cubs tip. Obviously once I had 4 fairly rare selections I was going for rare picks the rest of the way like Dale Murphy and Alan Trammell over more obvious picks, but they all came to me pretty easy.

Shouldn't be a surprise to anyone who has followed the Cubs closely but we rank 27/30 in terms of WAR for drafted players since 2015. Some of this is likely because we drafted lower from 2016-2021. Some of it is we don't get small market comp picks. But sad to see how poorly we've done. Theo will always be considered a success because he got us what we wanted, but I can't help but also feel a bit disappointed (and to be clear disappointed doesnt mean I think he failed by any means) which makes me feel guilty because I recognize that he also oversaw the most successful run in franchise history. We thought we were getting an Andrew Friedman type guy that would have waves and waves of prospects coming to Wrigley, but we actually had one wave and then development fell off a cliff.

Well I guess we learned that we can’t just pick 20 random Americans from the MLS and win our continental championship. We drew against all 3 of the teams that we played with a pulse which I guess is not terrible, though Canada was playing a B team and Panama a B+ team.

Backed myself into some trouble by making Ichiro the Mariners ROY pick, and then got stumped for a few minutes on the Marlins/Mariners player until Logan Morrison came to me. Also poor White Sox, all 3 of their boxes have really low accuracy numbers (49%, 49%, 53%)

Yeah the official line is that while the Cubs have been bidding for it since like 2009, the renovation of Wrigley was typically still ongoing until the sportsbook was completed which it was a few weeks ago. Now that the renovation is 100% done, the Cubs are expecting to be given a game. Hopefully that happens soon....the 4 teams pushing for it are the teams with the 2nd, 3rd and 4th longest waits between ASG (with longest again being Oakland) and the team that hosted it in 2000 but was awarded a recent game and had it (rightfully) taken away due to politics.

Induced weak contact on the first 3 hitters, one of them dropped in for a hit and one of them took a great play to get the out, then struck out the last batter. All in all he repped well as you said.

Yeah, but now they use juiced balls and longer rounds. Plus I'd be willing to bet the wind is not going to be blowing in like it did in 1990. I desperately want to see balls hitting buildings down Seminary and stuff. Though I wonder how they'd handle property damage lol.

Manfred spoke about the 2025 All-Star game location today, and while he mentoned the Cubs are interested, it seems like they are an afterthought and the focus is on Toronto, Baltimore and Atlanta. The next ASG available to host is 2027. Jesse Rogers seems to imply that politics is preventing the Cubs from getting the game, specifically not being equipped to deal with the extra security and other measures that are needed when hosting an All-Star game. Anyone who follows me on twitter has seen this like 5 times in the past few days but man we're due for a freaking game. The only team with a longer wait is Oakland and they aren't ever getting one. The Cubs have hosted just 1 All-Star game in the last 60 years, and that game was 33 years ago. In comparison, Cleveland has hosted the game 4 times over that same timespan. Heck the entire city of Chicago has only hosted it 3 times since 1963, despite having 2 teams. Give me the damn game. The first ASG I am old enough to remember watching was the 1991 game, so I have no memory of the Cubs hosting.

I hope its announced this week so I can bitch and moan when its not Wrigley and we'll have to target 2027. Wrigley has had 1 All-Star game in the past 61 years, and the 1 was 33 years ago. For comparison, Cleveland has hosted 4 times since 1962. The entire city of Chicago with 2 teams has only hosted 3 times since 1962 (1983, 1990, 2005).

There are legitimate challenges at Northwestern that other Big Ten schools don't have to deal with but like you said its a Big Ten job and not very difficult to clean up the mess. The school also has brand new facilities for football that compete with the best of the conference and are in the process of doing a massive upgrade of their home field which should make them more attractive to recruits. I don't think they'll be able to get an elite name but should have no problem getting an up and coming coach that can succeed. The tough thing of course is the timing, roughly a month before training camp starts. Might have to do an interim this year, take their lumps for a season (lumps that were probably already coming) and hire next offseason.

Why? He pitched for 19 years, figured he racked up enough K's. I was thinking of longevity guys and almost went with Bartolo Colon for Cleveland since he pitched 21 seasons but thankfully went with CC as Colon only had ~2500 strikeouts. Mine today: Todd Walker - Jason Kipnis - Bruce Sutter (going for rarity there) Doug Eyechart - Dave Winfield - Johan Santana Roger Clemens - CC Sabathia - Bob Gibson

Can’t believe that Miles Robinson had not one but two hand balls inside the box. Crazy…wild game. Should have wiped the floor with these guys but also so fortunate to survive. Gonna be tough playing Panama in 72 hours after playing 120 tonight

That would put them at .500. I think it depends on how teams like Cincinnati, Milwaukee, Philadephia, San Francisco and San Diego play. All ahead of the Cubs for playoff spots and all except San Diego are at least 6 games ahead of the Cubs. If you get that number down to 3, maybe you do at least a light buy, maybe a reliever and a power bat that can play 3B but not necessarily an everyday guy. If its still at around 6, you do nothing or a light sell of 1-2 pen arms. Edit: I wrote that confusingly. Currently only San Francisco and Cincinnati are in playoff spots, but all the teams I listed except San Diego are at least 6 games ahead of the Cubs in the standings.
