Manfred spoke about the 2025 All-Star game location today, and while he mentoned the Cubs are interested, it seems like they are an afterthought and the focus is on Toronto, Baltimore and Atlanta. The next ASG available to host is 2027. Jesse Rogers seems to imply that politics is preventing the Cubs from getting the game, specifically not being equipped to deal with the extra security and other measures that are needed when hosting an All-Star game.
Anyone who follows me on twitter has seen this like 5 times in the past few days but man we're due for a freaking game. The only team with a longer wait is Oakland and they aren't ever getting one. The Cubs have hosted just 1 All-Star game in the last 60 years, and that game was 33 years ago. In comparison, Cleveland has hosted the game 4 times over that same timespan. Heck the entire city of Chicago has only hosted it 3 times since 1963, despite having 2 teams. Give me the damn game. The first ASG I am old enough to remember watching was the 1991 game, so I have no memory of the Cubs hosting.
