This is the 5th straight appearance that Drew Smyly has given up a HR in his first inning of work. -
They recorded last night's game on DVR and are planning on watching it during tonight's game.

Not really a big deal but I wonder why they have Candelario at 3B tonight and Wisdom at 1B. Wisdom's primary position is 3B and the Cubs are trying to make Candelario their semi-full time 1B, so wouldn't you swap them and let Wisdom play the position he's more comfortable at and give Candelario more time to feel more comfortable at 1B? (I realize Candelario has played 1B in the past but not really all that much)

I'm not taking too much stock into it. I have never seen a full training camp and don't know anything about the ups and downs. I assume there are ups and downs for every team. It's not much better if the offense just dominated the D all camp either, though I'd rather that than the inverse (not saying the inverse is happening). Just thought Mooney's comments were interesting.

Apparently Velus Jones threw punches at Brisker after he celebrated a pass break up lol. Not sure if its frustration because the offense hasnt been sharp the last 2 days but probably not an ideal thing to happen even though its not usual for fights to break out at camp. Also more importantly, Tevin Jenkins was helped off the field today with an injury and Getsy said he does not have an update on the injury yet.

Yes, after much reflection I too would be ok with an Alonso, Ohtani and Bellinger offseason.

Willing to wash this one away. Really favorable hitting conditions + comedy of errors in the 1st + pitching with a big lead + good offensive team. It doesn't feel like he's been as sharp as he was earlier in the year though.
