  1. Maybe I'm way off but this doesn't seem like a Poles type of move at all.
  2. Brewers win Giants win Reds likely to win twice Marlins lose Diamondbacks idle Another rough day of scoreboard watching, outside of the Cubs winning. Looks like the night will end like this PHI 2.5 ahead CHI -- CIN -- -------------------- ARI 0.5 SF 0.5 MIA 2
  3. You just know he's gonna have a big hit to beat the Cubs in September. Of course I said this about Velasquez last weekend and Javy this week, eventually I have to be correct (actually wait no I don't)
  4. Giants have the bases loaded and 0 outs in the 10th edit: now it’s 7-5, still 0 outs
  5. 10 of the last 11 Cubs wins have come by 1 or 2 runs (also 4 of the last 7 losses). Living on the edge!
  6. Shohei is pitching today and helped his cause with a 2 run HR in the 1st against the Reds
  7. Got the 2nd out but now the tying run is in scoring position. Come on, one more out
  8. Why can't anything be easy lately? Seems like no matter what the winning run ends up hitting in the 9th
  9. And then he walks his first lefty of the year on 4 pitches. Sub-optimal
  10. Wow I thought that was an easy hit off the bat, Nice leap by Candelario
  11. I really hope we don't have to see Javy PH as the tying or winning run
  12. See this is a situation where I still don't love the bunt but I don't mind it either.
  13. Hey hey Morel got a hit! That's gotta feel good for him.
  14. Wicks was scratched from his start today and instead was seen throwing a bullpen session during the I-Cubs game. Not sure if that means he'll be called up but...
  15. It was quite impressive. He was hitting the black with his 100 mph fastball and getting hitters to chase the breaking pitch
  16. That was really impressive pitching going through the heart of their order. At times Merryweather looks completely dominant, but he has enough off performances to always make me a little nervous when he pitches.
  17. You think so? I'd agree with no one else on base but Seiya was on 3rd as an insurance run in that situation. Gomes being on 2nd gives them a potential second insurance run and eliminates the force out but thats about it. I do agree that it was partially bad luck though as the throw from the cutoff man made it an easy out. But feel like if theres any risk at all you stay on 1st and let Candelario try to get another insurance run home
  18. Also I don't want to seem like I'm down on the hit, HUGE hit. Just always feels weird when you are celebrating a big hit and then the batter gets thrown out to end the inning at the end of the play.
  19. @Matt Trueblood wrote an article on this site about it the other day
  20. Thank you for giving us the lead Gomes, but I hate that he got thrown out there at the end. I'll take it though.
  21. I think the confidence about the starters was that we felt good about have 3 #2-3 starters in Stroman, Steele and Taillon, we were excited about Wesneski's upside and though Smyly would be fine for a number 5 starter. And then we had Hendricks coming back which people weren't expecting a ton, it gave us another option. What we didnt expect is that Stroman and Smyly would completely implode at the start of June and in Stroman's case then be injured for the rest of the year. Didn't expect Taillon to be terrible for the first 3 months and then ok for a bit but still not really pitching like a number 3 starter often enough. And then Wesneski completely pitching himself out of the rotation by May Steele has been better than expectations and Hendricks right about where we expected him to be.
  22. Possibly because his starters largely suck?
