  1. wow that the was coolest thing ever.....I just stood on my balcony overlooking the Chicago Loop and watched a low thunderstorm engulf the entire downtown, then watched as lightning hit the sears tower and hancock.
  2. Haha, 2 weeks ago they said 1 week...hope theres not a set back
  3. I have a free ticket saturday, but my 3 friends dont. is it hard to get tickets from scalpers and whatnot, and what is the demand like. I'm usually good at negotiating and waiting until the prices go down. oh, did I mention that I'll be wearing Cubs gear and my 3 friends will be wearing Red Sox gear.
  4. And I bet it will be very humid too. Thank goodness I have never been to St. Louis. Actually its not going to be much better in chicago this weekend
  5. Richard Lewis has had a couple of solid games in a row. Hopefully he can build off of it. I still have dreams of Lewis in the Cubs lineup someday :)
  6. Funny we have all these outfielders, and not one is more then average at their position
  7. Sweet, is the credential in your name or NSBB's? If the latter, I can think of good ways to make money for the site! Either way, phenominal job. I am so proud of the work you and everyone else here as done to make NSBB just ridiculous. I'm not even sure SoSH has such affiliations with the Red Sox or their farm teams. Just wow!
  8. Wohoo, an obscure reference that I picked up on! Unless it wasnt, and it was just a coincidental choice of words. Gah, its too early to think this much. Don't worry, it was
  9. It's kinda sad when I see a pitcher with a 9+ ERA and get scared. I don't know what it is or if the Cubs falter by expecting too much, but they seem to lose control when a struggling pitcher is facing them. I predict a close game 5-3 Cubs
  10. Bah, hmm...ill fix it tomorrow
  11. I think the Blue Jays turned a respectable uniform into an offshoot of the Devil Rays. Terrible terrible change. Also the Padres road unis are umm interesting too.
  12. The thing about Dunn that I like is his ability to get on base. Yes, the power is certainly nice, but the fact that he can get on base at a very high rate and consistantly, gives the Cubs something to stabalize the offense when the offense runs dry like it usually does. How many times do we go through our offensive cold streaks and we just wish someone can get on base to start something? Dunns presence can do that. Not to mention the protection he can give Lee/Aramis. Imagine Aramis' numbers with someone with a .900 OPS hitting behind him
  13. the recent pirates series: http://image61.webshots.com/161/9/22/50/398892250uHvbCe_ph.jpg
  14. Maybe they're like the Cubs. They haven't seen the pitcher's junk before, so they don't know what to do with it. The Cubs were like that with Davies and Colon. I dunno, they hit the G-Unit quite well
  15. Daily Corey update: 2-5 HR, 2B, 2 RBI, K Not bad....I'm guessing his stats aren't the most important thing here as these games are more likely being treated like Spring Training games where Corey is more focused on changing things and getting into a stride with his swing.
  16. Yet Dusty dispatched Cox & his Braves in the playoffs rather handily... How do you figure? Both times they faced each other in the playoffs, Bakers squad won in the deciding game. So what are you arguing for? Isn't that what I just said? You said they dispatched the Braves "rather handily" but winning 2 series that could go either way doesnt seem handily. Point taken though.

  18. OHHH NOOO!!!!!!!!!!! Len Kasper just used in infamous "tip your cap" expression in reference to Zach Duke Has he been studying tapes of Chip?? :(
  19. Thanks for the insight Joe Morgan. No, His keys would look something more like this: 1. Play Good defense. When you play defense, you win ballgames. Just look at the Reds back when I played. 2. Score runs, You have to score runs. Remember the reds??? We scored alot. 3. You have to have a good Pitc....DID YOU KNOW I PLAYED FOR THE REDS OMG WE WERE SO GREAT HAHA!!!!!! WOW! 4. Having Barry Bonds will help at all these. Barry Bonds has won several gold gloves. Barry Bonds can score alot of runs, and Barry Bonds can make your pitcher better. One time I asked Barry if I could lick his butt. Joe Buck inturrupts: Albert Pujols may be even better then Barry Bonds. Look at his flawless defense which backs up his Ruthian bat. The NL starter Carlos Lee could never hold a jock strap to Pujols, not even for one year. GO CARDS!
  20. No but I did hear he almost never signed autographs as a Cub, so its kinda weird.
  21. Sorry I couldn't donate any money, its a little tight right now, but congrats on the honor and cheers to the continued success of NSBB!
  22. Nooo, not until I have the chance to get out to Peoria and see him!
  23. This is more of a trivia question here: In what instances can a scorer award a win or a save to someone who does not qualify under conventional rules and can anyone show an example of this occuring (especially a win, saves are done a few times a season)
