  1. I think the worst part about the rejection emails are the fact that it says "Tickets still available on Stubhub!". They are basically saying "You didnt win, but you can still spend 6 times as much and buy them from a 3rd party buyer!"
  2. Very disappointing. I thought Tommie was a classy, team guy. I won't jump to conclusions because I don't know what rule he broke, but its disappointing to hear.
  3. Nope. To be completely honest, if the Cubs are going to lose the series, I'd rather have them just get swept so they don't get my hopes up. Either win the series or get swept. I'd love to at least feel the joy of one playoff win, the first once in 1796 days.
  4. Bases loaded 1 out...Uribe struck out. Now 2 outs and OCab is up
  5. Stupid question, but would you feel that this season is slightly more validated if the Cubs win at least one playoff game vs. being swept?
  6. Dead on! =D> Bump an 8 month old thread to pat yourself on the back? ;)
  7. Tying run up at the plate. The batter is AJ [moderated]
  8. It took a long time for NLDS tickets to "sell out" with lottery winners. There will be time, the the first two games will be more popular than games 6 and 7. I would go for game 6 first myself. Me too. A lot will go for game 1 or 2 though to ensure that they actually get to see a game. I'd take the risk and go for a game that could be a potential clincher. Absolutely. If Game 6 doesnt happen it means one of two things 1. The Cubs won the NLCS (awesome) 2. The Cubs lose the NLCS (which means you probably would have bought a playoff loss anyways)
  9. 1 more rbi right? He is 3-3 2 HRs 3 RBIs
  10. Really? If we win 2 playoff games and its game 5, I'm going to be sky high. I bet the crowd is completely different too. The crowd is just waiting to see a sign of life before they can calm down and enjoy this. Is it fair to the players? no. But I understand where the crowd is coming from.
  11. Nothing of course
  12. I love when our team gives up a backbreaking HR, our offense looks shell shocked the rest of the game, but when it happens to a young team full of players who are playing in the first postseason game, they bounce right back. Or maybe its because Javy Vazquez is pitching :)
  13. I was apprehensive when the game started, but I didn't expect the rest of the crowd to be. When DeRo hit the homer, memories of 2008 came flushing over me, and suddenly I got the confidence I had in the regular season back. But when the offense did nothing the next 2 innings, I started counting the outs, something that's never good to do in the 4th inning. Honestly, until Loney hit the HR, I expected Demp to get out of it. But once that HR was hit, I felt like I got punched in the stomach. Suddenly my confidence turned into extreme pessimism, and you couldnt convince me the Cubs would come back
  14. Corey Graham is awesome. The Bears have a knack for getting guys from UNH (Azumah, Graham). They had David Ball, the all time NCAA receiving leader, last year too before he was cut at the end of the 07 camp. Those are like 3 of the only 5 players to ever come out on UNH
  15. Any word on how many weeks he will be out?
  16. Yeah I'm interested to see how the ticket sales go if the Cubs lost tonight.
  17. I agree that sometimes people get a little high and mighty about how calm, cool and collected they can be. I definitely ride the rollar coaster during games. But seriously, you walked out? I think that's pretty lame. I agree its pretty lame. I was ashamed the moment I did it, and the shame has lasted with me since. I just didn't know what to do. I was pretty crushed after that grand slam, and for about an inning before I actually left, I paced up and down the concourse from foul pole to foul pole. While I was walking around, I was looking at the reactions of people seated in the first row of terrace box, and I saw more than a few people smiling, laughing and joking. I couldn't handle people enjoying themselves while I was so upset (and drunk to be honest), so after the 6th run scored, I left so I could walk it off. Again, I know its just game 1. I know I'm being dramatic. If this was game 2 (whether we won or lost game 1) it would be different. Blah, I don't know...I'm an idiot.
  18. I've thought the same way for awhile. Well put though.
  19. Has anyone ever won a Division Series after losing the first 2 at home? I think the Yankees did in 2001 against Oakland. You're right. But I think you mean 2002.
  20. Truer words have not been spoken. Does not matter how lights out Big Z turns out tonight, this offense will have to carry us tonight. Seriously though, even if we lose, lose 7-6 or something. I'd rather lose 7-6 than 2-0. If we don't do something offensively tonight, I'm mentally going into offseason mode. Doesn't mean I won't have hope for game 3, but I'll have to be a realist.
  21. Has anyone ever won a Division Series after losing the first 2 at home?
  22. Thanks for the recap of your emotions last night. Sometimes, I feel like people on this board try too hard to prove who is the most calm and collected during tumultuous situations, when its obvious that most people ride the wave of emotions. For the record, I was the same way. I am pretty embarrassed to admit this, but I walked out of Wrigley immediately after Samardzija allowed the 6th run to score. I walked out of the park and walked down Clark Street, all the way down to Fullerton and Clark, and then took a cab home (I live near Belmont and Southport, so I went way out of my way). I just needed to clear my head of the game. I know I know, its just game 1 of a playoff series. But the thing is, mentally I was quietly confident about this series, but in the back of my mind, I just knew a lifeless performance in game one would crush me. I was looking for any sort of sign that this team would be different in October than it was last year, and I didn't get it. I really need to see the offense do something tonight.
  23. I was going to suggest the Cubs purposely strike out every AB for the first 8 innings before stringing together a 4 run 9th, but I like your thinking too.
  24. It was a blast, I love postseason baseball!!! Edit: Actually it was horrible. The crowd felt like they were waiting for the Cubs to lose from the first pitch. Honestly, I don't blame the psyche given what happened last year. If the Cubs would have won last night, tonight's game would have been absolutely rocking. We need to get past that psychological bump of winning a postseason game. I actually saw the guy next to me cry after the grand slam. Crying in the 5th inning of game 1 of a playoff series. Unbelievable.
