  1. So Sheets would be the Kerry Wood to Rich Harden's Mark Prior?
  2. I guess Flowers is destroying the Fall League right now, and Rosenthal is unsure they would want to trade him. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/8782170/Brewers%27-veterans-could-be-dealt-for-pitching-help?CMP=OTC-K9B140813162&ATT=3498 Look back 2 pages :)
  3. In case anyone was curious what Braves fans were saying about trade talks: http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=248&f=2070&t=3150303&p=71 You need a sign in, but I'm sure a lot of people have logins for Scout.
  4. Very few teams, if any, solely go after one type of player. You can be into sluggers while at the same type being open to having Theriot-type players at SS. Who is looking for players with absolutely no power and little range at their positions?
  5. Obviously doesn't include the postseason in their consideration... http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3698490 Also if anyone cares Maddon surprises no one and wins the AL award.
  6. From a Ken Rosenthal article earlier this month: That seems like an odd thought process when your stadium was "Barry-proofed." Yeah, I'm not sure how they thought a lefty slugger would thrive there. Adrian Gonzalez is quite a good lefty slugger and even he had a pedestrian .788 OPS there last year.
  7. What the hell is Bruce doing on the radio when he should be on here??
  8. At this point, he would need at least 5-6 performances in a row better than that to convince me he even can be salvageable.
  9. This season has officially turned into a "I don't care if we win/lose, as long as Derrick Rose does awesome" year in my mind. I say gut the team this offseason and build it around Rose. Gordon - Gone Gooden - Gone Hughes - Gone in 2 years Thabo - resign for cheap as your 4th guard/defensive guy Tyrus - don't care if they even make him a qualifying offer in 2 seasons Gray - Who cares Stuck with: Deng Nocioni Hinrich Our 2010 position looks pretty solid if we are willing to stand pat and don't add any long term commitments between now and then. The problem is convincing a Wade/Melo/LBJ to sign with us. I guess with Rose aboard it helps. I wish there was a way to clear enough space to make a S/T for Boozer this offseason. The only way I can see it is if we let Gordon and Gooden go then S/T Hughes and Tyrus and a 1st for Boozer. We'd have no depth but anchored by Rose and Boozer.
  10. First loss at Lambeau in the Lovie era? I think not! Win this game, and at least for the time being, its a 2 team race in the North. Next 3 games: Min: @ TB @ JAX vs. CHI Chi: @ GB @ STL @ MIN GB: vs. CHI @ NO vs. CAR The Bears have 3 road games, but probably have the easiest of the 3 schedules, although the Bears games are more important, with 2/3 games being divisional. I think this 3 game stretch decides the NFC North.
  11. ESPN.com has the Hawks ranked 5th in their latest Power Rankings. Yay for Chicago fall sports Blackhawks looking like a solid playoff team Bears in first place Fire in the Eastern Conference Finals Bulls....well the Bulls have a star in the making.
  12. Inside joke that goes back to the BRob thread last year.
  13. http://www.aboutus.org/Desipio.com If we really wanted to be funny, we could call the contact information listed on the website pretending to be an ESPN employee looking for confirmation of the rumor so they can put it on espn.com
  14. http://www.desipio.com Cubs blog written by Andy Dolan. Used to be updated often, not as much now.
  15. Highly doubt it. Dolan cares about his integrity and wouldn't post a senseless rumor like that.
  16. Well...Brewers bullpen will be considerably worse. I read somewhere they have interest in Hoffman, but you gotta believe other teams will offer more money than Milwaukee http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3696685
  17. If we wanted to, we could email one of the afternoon shows (Boers and Bernstein or MJH) and try to get them to confirm the rumor. I know people on this site have done it before for other rumors. Not sure if they will have Bruce Levine or whoever on duty during a random November afternoon though.
  18. Dolan used to write a 7-10 paragraph blog entry every day. Now he'll churn out 3 paragraphs a week. He is a fading star in the Cubs blog world, so I guess this would be a good way to get back into the mix. Based on everything you seem to know about him, he sure does appear to have a fan in you, UMFan. For his next stunt, Dolan will be arranging a Voyeur Bus in Chicago. He'll have nude models and porn stars riding around town in a glass bus. He figures it'll be a good way to "get back in the mix," as you put it. Oh, I'm a huge fan of his writing. He used to be the first thing I read every morning when he was writing daily. The Daily Doses he wrote in 2003, 2004 and 2005 were gold. His cynicism is a drawback that I've learned to live with. Lately, he's dropped out of my daily Cubs blog rundown (and yes that includes your site)
  19. Good job. Lincecum is my man crush.
  20. Dolan used to write a 7-10 paragraph blog entry every day. Now he'll churn out 3 paragraphs a week. He is a fading star in the Cubs blog world, so I guess this would be a good way to get back into the mix.
  21. If he's reporting what he was told by whoever this source may be, what would his intelligence have at all to do with it? Posting a rumor from a source seems like a weird thing for Dolan to do, since he always criticizes NSBB and BCB for spreading baseless rumors. But he's been doing it a bit lately, like when he posted his source that said the Cubs would go after Hermida. My guess is Dolan wants to feel important.
  22. That's what I was thinking, but really how much money do the Cubs have to spend? Who plays RF? DeRosa?
  23. Andy Dolan from Desipio: I have no idea the source.
