  1. Not any sort of update at all, but from an ESPN chat:
  2. Build a park so big that it can hold the result of a Bob Howry fastball.
  3. Seattle would be wise to take that IMO. Putz is a fantastic closer, but they need a lot of pieces.
  4. Switching from the AL East to the NL East should help him a bit
  5. To compare, I believe Peavy is making 4/56 million on his contract and 5/78 if his team picks up his option year.
  6. Ankiel I excluded him because I doubt the Cardinals would trade him to the Cubs.
  7. Hermida's road numbers in 2007-2008: 2007: .324/.401/.548/.949 2008: .288/.364/.487/.851
  8. Does anyone get the feeling Lowe = Kevin Brown. I don't know why I feel that way but I do.
  9. If for some reason the trade for a RF is not Hermida, who would it be? Looking at starting RFs that might be on the block: Francoeur (doubt it and hope not, hes a RHB) Giles (maybe they convince him to drop his NTC...who knows maybe he's buddies with Peavy) Hawpe (possibility) Jenkins (man I hope not) Winn (possibility) Teahen (also possible)
  10. I am not sure which one I'd take, but I do think that CC is being wildly overrated by the media based on his NL numbers last year. Just my opinion though.
  11. Well he wouldn't walk away for nothing. At worst we'd get a season slightly below his 2007 season, with a an adequate backup a 4 other positions and a decent value. Then when he walks away he will be at least a Type B FA, if not Type A so we'd get draft picks.
  12. The thing I'm most worried about with trading DeRosa, is Hendry going on another 2B signing spree during the year if Font/platoon partner slump. No more Damien Jackson/Neifi Perez/Rey Rnez types please. Maybe we can pull Todd WALKAH outta retirement :)
  13. Bradley had a .926 OPS vs. RHP last year. And it was in the AL, although I'm not sure that with his home ballpark and the pitching in the AL West that its much different conditions than the NL.
  14. You do realize that we slapped CC around when we faced him dont you? 2.78 ERA, 1.10 WHIP, 15/3 K/BB against the Cubs last year Numbers were heavily skewed by his last performance when they were playing the apathetic Cubs, with a lineup with like 3-4 regulars on the last day of the regular season. I wouldn't say we slapped him around in his other starts, but we got to him better than any NL team that wasn't facing him with less than 4 days rest. I mean he only gave up more than 2 ERs in 3 NL starts, and 2 of them were against us.
  15. ??? If anything he needs to be MORE selfish
  16. The Trib says that this is a done deal. This is going to be weird next year.
  17. Yeah, the announcer said the station was going to make a statement or something, and that it was the second toughest day, next to being on the air when his mother/grandmother died. Any clue as to what happened? At first I thought that he had some sort of weird emotional attachment to Peavy and that he had just been traded.
  18. Sounds like someone got canned on that SD radio station today.
  19. So count on Fielder being a Brewer next year?
  20. It's Peavy's contract that concerns me more than anything. That is not nothing. It's a lot like Soriano's, though blessedly a little shorter. There will always be a Peavy in the offseason, the guy you could probably have if you could just find the payroll for him. I can easily see this team needing one more guy in a few seasons and just running out of room. I know you don't value Peavy as much as most here, but Soriano signed an 8 year deal at age 30. Peavy has 5 years left on a deal and is 27. I wouldn't expect much regression from Peavy over the next 5 years, or at least not nearly as much as Soriano at age 38.
