  1. Why the hell are they just letting them have 5-7 yard throws. They literally let the guy on 3rd down sit there and wait for a pass to make it a much much more manageable 4th down. It’s like the 4th time I’ve seen it on this drive. Bryce young hasn’t done anything downfield almost all game.
  2. lol of course they converted the 1st and 30
  3. What are the odds the Bears commit a defensive penalty to give them a 1st down after the 1st and 30?
  4. What a pathetically terrible punt
  5. Well that was certainly a half of football that was played.
  6. I love how this game is so bad that they just invited Jason Kelce to spend the entire 2nd quarter in the booth. Edit: whoops someone already made a similar comment
  7. The Bears stink is on him now
  8. Good guy Bagent trying to make it clear and obvious that he is not a good QB.
  9. And he’ll go back in after the game
  10. haha what an embarassment
  11. Yes I understand there is a preferred outcome. But if the Bears win their pick will get worse. If the Panthers win their pick will get worse. Most weeks you can hope for/expecy them both to lose but this week that’s impossible.
  12. Right, I just mean that no matter what happens tonight our draft pick situation will be worse, whether its the Bears own pick getting worse or the Panthers pick. Makes me less excited because we can't even "root" for tanking
  13. Dont think I've ever had less excitement for a Bears primetime game. Regardless of the result, the Bears draft picks are going to get worse, they are already so far out of contention for this game to essentially be meaningless, the backup QB is starting so can't hold out hope for a good Fields performance, and the team we are playing is shittier and more hopeless than we are.
  14. There was some reporting of the Cubs interest in Correa and Bogaerts (I don't remember much on Turner), but I do seem to remember even early in the offseason reading that the Cubs had the most interest in Dansby. There was definitely some connection between the Cubs and Swanson independent of their interest in the other FAs.
  15. DePaul loses at home to KenPom's 263rd ranked team Purdue-Fort Wayne in a game that apparently wasnt even as close as the 8 point final margin. This might be the worst DePaul team in awhile and considering the recent run of DePaul basketball, that's saying a lot. On the plus side for me Michigan looked surprisingly decent in what could have been a tough game against the Big South favorite. Who knows how good they'll actually be but I'm kind of liking the dynamic and the relatively low expectations after the last 2 seasons.
  16. And its an area of weakness for Fields. Basically Bagent has all the qualities we wished Fields had, and Fields has all the qualities we wished Bagent had. Leave it to the Bears to finally have all the traits needed for a franchise QB but have those traits split evenly between 2 QBs.
  17. Clearly Bagent should be our early down QB, and Fields for the other downs. But seriously interesting numbers. The sack number makes sense but he's also getting an improving Wright and Braxton Jones back last game. But clearly he's more adept at avoiding sacks due to things we've discussed endlessly here. Completion percentage is good but its just one metric and likely a effect of playcalling mostly asking him to make short easy throws. The downside of that is his YPA is over 1 full yard lower than Fields. You can live with a completion percentage around 62-63% for Fields because he's going to be taking deep shots. But then again, Fields' inability to accurately make short easy throws is an issue that partially explains his lower success rate on 1st down.
  18. They might have been a better team, but then again the Cubs did finish with the 4th best RD in the NL while the Diamondbacks were outscored by 15 runs. It did seem like the Diamondbacks were getting it together towards the end of the year and guys that we made fun of starting like Pfaadt ended up starting World Series games. Even still, on September 7th we had a 93% chance to make the playoffs and a 4 game lead with 22 games to play. We lost 3 one run games against Arizona, where any one of them would have gotten the Cubs into the playoffs instead of Arizona. One of those games was lost when a blooper barely scraped the ground by inches before going into Seiya's glove. Another game was lost when Gomes missed a walkoff HR by a foot, and the third was lost when a ball deflected off the pitchers arm and our Gold Glove SS for some reason elected to let it drop. I think its more likely the Diamondbacks were a hotter team in September and October with several emerging players figuring it out down the stretch. We just so happened to have the misfortune of playing them in 7 of our final 22 games. But over 162 games, I think the Cubs were the better team and should have made the playoffs over them. How much of that is Ross's fault? I'm not sure.
  19. So Fields has this caliber of game the rest of the year: 309 passing yards, 4 TDs, 1 INT, 9.7 YPA, 129 QB rating, 41 rushing yards? (average of those 2 games). Maybe depress the numbers a bit to account for quality of competition, 260 yards, 2 TD, 0-1 INT, 8.5 YPA, 117 QB Rating. I think its pretty obvious you keep Fields at that point because those are legit All-Pro numbers similar to Mahomes. Not going to happen, Fields will continue to be who he is, showing flashes against some teams, looking perplexed and overwhelmed against others. But yeah if he did that, QB is off the table in the draft and you immediately extend him.
  20. I'll be quite sad if we lost Hottovy in this. He's survived one administration change, but this one is a little different as last time it was hiring someone Hottovy had a relationship with before. Hope he's priority number 1
  21. Yuki Matsui too. This is one of those exercises where I feel like they look at each player and predict a landing spot rather than looking at all 30 teams and trying to piece together an offseason for each of them. Or they just assume we go big with Soto and/or other trades.
  22. What a day to be off the grid. At the end of the day, if you are the manager overseeing a historic (to some degree) September collapse then you risk this happening.
  23. Obviously we want the Bears to win on Thursday (if you are all in on tanking), right? There are like 7 teams with 3 wins, so winning again makes the Bears in jeopardy of falling into that 5-8 pick range, in exchange for the Panthers remaining at 2. But if the panthers win, I’m pretty sure the Bears will remain 1.2 and 1.3 with their 2 picks due to tiebreakers.
  24. And Bryce Young throws his 2nd pick 6 of the game
  25. Maybe but Fields has only had 1 game in his career with 4+ turnovers and it was his first career start in 2021. But it’s possible he doesn’t lead them to 17 points against the Saints
