  1. Not a little beer league, a lot. Defense up the middle is very important IMO.
  2. I'm trying to think, who is having a good year at C in the NL besides McCann? Could Soto actually have an outside shot at an All Star bearth considering the Cubs need one.
  3. How do you think he got home from Pittsburgh?
  4. The Spark is just toying with them now.
  5. Can you remember the last time so many position players became everyday players coming out of the Cubs system? Fontenot, Theriot, Fox, Soto, McGehee off the top of my head, but I know there's more.
  6. I want to drink some beers with Fox. He looks like he would be a blast to party with I'd personally want to drink with Fontenot for some reason. Reed Johnson for me. Seems like he would be a fun guy. The person I would least want to drink with is Z. I bet he would go insane start breaking things.
  7. I just read that BA decided to shut their website down stating that if they failed to recognize the greatness of Sam Fuld in their annual prospect rankings, they realize that they know nothing about judging prospects. They hope to re-launch their site in the future while primarily judging prospects on their ability to be a spark plug.
  8. Another gritty white fan favorite. Sam, join Fontenot, Theriot, Fox, and Reed.
  9. Which likely means absolutely nothing. Just seeing Fuld sitting there on second base, grit literally radiating from his body, inspired Lee to crush the ball very far. Right, because getting on base is a bad thing. Can't hit a 3 run homer every time, and you especially can't hit one with no one on base. Yes, Fuld was on base and Lee hit a homer. The point is that those 2 events aren't related except that the latter scored the former. If Soriano had led off and struck out, Lee probably hits a homer anyways. I know butterfly effect but you get my point.
  10. The ball is flying tonight. Doesn't help that Dempster has been leaving everything up but...I expect the final score to be like 9-7 or something.

  12. I love the way the game has started, but it also worries me how much the ball is jumping today. Could be a high scoring game.
  13. Sexy mofo. DLee pretty much saved our season by being awesome over the last month or two.
  14. Wow, Fielder has 74 RBIs and Braun 57. The Cubs leader is Lee with 41 hah.
  15. Backup 3B 5 days before Rammy comes back...righty hitter, has played 1B, 2B, 3B, RF and LF in his career. Hit 12 HRs and had a .791 OPS last year. Hasn't played a game in the bigs since April 26th. Umm...a poor man's Mark DeRosa?
  16. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/chi-02-cubs-brite-chicago-jul02,0,3892212.story Did anyone catch what that quote is?
  17. All the OP was saying is that he was waiting for Lou to show fire and he finally did tonight. I don't know about Sori getting benched...wasn't it just a night off?
  18. Good to see that Bob Howry is still killing the Cubs.
  19. Let's take 3/4 from the Brewers and be 1.5 back after the series. Oh wait, nevermind I called a 12 game winning streak.
  20. 3-7 road trip right? Pirates are bad, the Cubs scored 7 runs this series and took 2/3. Final scoring tally for the series 7-5 in favor of the Cubs.
  21. Oh no, it's Marmol. I would have rather they brought him in for his next appearance when we have a big lead to have some low pressure confidence building, but I guess these days a 3 run lead is like a blowout.
  22. Ben Gordon just signed with Detroit. 5/55 I think long term it's better for the team
  23. I don't think Havlat would sign here for another year when ge could get a multiyear deal elsewhere. First of all he would probably have lesser stats with Hossa here and also I don't think he can even count on himself to stay healthy the majority of the season like he did last year. Last year was a good contract year for him. He stayed healthy all year, contributed greatly and had a pretty damn good playoffs as he helped lead a young team to the WCF. I can't see how another year on this team could help him anymore in FA.
