  1. No "hate hating" only applies when the Cubs are doing at least decent. When those that "hate hate" start to hate anything goes.
  2. What blog/board you talking about here? http://www.ontheforecheck.com/ Someone from NSBB was obviously posting in their game thread last night at the end. It was kind of funny.
  3. Yeah I mean I could be wrong, but to me the effort and intensity looked night and day from Game 1 for a lot of the team, which makes me wonder why in the hell it wasn't there on Friday night.
  4. There was a lot of talk that Ozzie lobbied with Kenny Williams to build the type of ballclub he has now, one with good pitching and an offense built around speed. Ozzie got the team he wanted and is currently floundering with it. I would think they'd give him at least a third of the season before caning him. However, I believe this Sox team is better than a 4-9 team and should play well enough that it won't become a serious issue (firing Ozzie that is)
  5. Since "Cobs" is an inside joke on this board, I wonder about the authenticity of this account.
  6. Who is the user name "cmon" posting on the Preds blog? Good stuff.
  7. It reminds me a little of the Cubs giving the Dodgers 7 outs in an inning and every IF having an error in the game. I was just on ESPN.com and checked the score of the game and it said SJ won 1-0 in OT. Then I went back a minute later and it said COL won 1-0 in OT. ESPN was correct in that a SJ player scored a goal.
  8. Follow the minors. We have a lot to be excited about down there. And the offense is better than how they've played. And the starting pitching has been really really excellent so far this year for the most part. I don't think there is a big gap between us and the Cardinals, I really don't. We've lost 7 games this year, and 6 of them have been within 2 runs (4 of them 1 run losses). Break that down even further and 4 of those 6 losses have been in games where we scored less than 4 runs in the game. That screams of a team that is desperately needed to hit better. Then you look at some of the starts some of the Cubs have gotten off to....you would clearly expect them to hit better and score more runs than they have so far. Anyways, they haven't played great, but I don't think they've been bad either. Take out a horrible opening day, and our run differential for the next 11 games is +6 (47 scored, 41 allowed) despite being 5-6 in those games. This team isn't horrible (at least hasn't proven so yet).
  9. I don't know about the word 'panic' this team is just not very good I just think it's way too early to tell either way. It's ok for you to think they are not very good due to preseason expectations and the first 12 games, I'm just saying don't be shocked if they end up being a lot better because despite a 5-7 record, there is a lot to like about this team so far (also a lot to hate). I won't pass any judgments on this team until we are at least 1/3 of the way through the season. So far we're 7.4% of the way through the season.
  10. This is the first game I've gotten to watch since the home opener. Boy baseball can be a horribly boring sport to watch on some days.
  11. I still don't think it's any time to panic, but that sucked. As much as the Astros suck, whoever said they are at an advantage because of the conditions at Wrigley the last 2 days is right. This team is just not built to hit with the wind blowing in hard.
  12. Well we won 1 game we should have lost (Wednesday) and lost 1 game we should have won (today). Hate to say it but we played like a .500 team this homestand.
  13. I am pretty sure this AB is going to end with Lee doing something that would have scored Theriot if the ump wasn't a moron.
  14. Good thing we still have 15 head to head games left against them. Or should that be bad thing.
  15. Since leaving work on Friday, my weekend which I was really excited for mostly because of playoff games but also just because of the volume of games to watch, as consisted of watching the Hawks lose, Cubs lose, Bulls lose, Cubs lose again, with only a Blackhawks game in the way of a perfect weekend.
  16. Score 12 runs in a 3 game series you are going to lose 2 out of 3 a lot of the time. Sucks that if we can't come back we'll start out the season losing 3 of our first 4 series, with series against the Astros and Reds included in them.
  17. First blown save as closer for Marmol.
  18. If the Cubs don't score in the 8th and they end up winning they will have won the series despite only scoring in 4 innings the entire series.
  19. Uh oh I was going to make a post that said Dempster shouldn't have been taken out too..
  20. Nice job hitting with 2 strikes Byrd!
  21. I was wondering why KRod only pitched 1 inning last night.
