  1. Where's the "don't worry about the stadium itself, just get some competent baseball players" option? It's on the survey given to the people who said that the Cubs new owners are a huge failure because they spent all their money on upgrading the bathrooms instead of getting better players, and they took a month long vacation during the baseball season.
  2. That's awesome. I love how quickly he backed off his "Bears will go 3-13" prediction when the Bears started off 3-0, calling them frisky and whatnot. And then when the Bears lose a couple of games, Simmons moves into "look everyone. i told you the bears were one of the 4 worst teams in the nfl. i said it back in late august!"
  3. Well I mean it is one of our own players that's heaping the praise. In fact I haven't really seen anyone outside of the Bears organization that's said that we have great receivers.
  4. Odd, I found that the only appealing thing about being stuck watching KC/BUF. I also don't think his enthusiasm is forced; I think he's just always got a chubby when watching sports. He was screaming at random nothing plays, and he would just go from normal voice to scream to normal voice. It seemed really forced at times. It's jarring when it runs counter to what is actually happening. I know I'm in the minority but I just don't get the over the top love for his over the top emotion. He's better than most announcers out there, but he's still making the same stupid mistakes and missing obvious stuff, just not as bad as some of the hacks. I don't have a problem with him overall, I just don't get the love. Part of me agrees that it is very forced and kind of annoying. But the other part of me actually got more drawn into watching the end of that game when it came on CBS locally because every incomplete pass was the most amazing play in football history. "and fitzpatrick, BACK TO PASS, THROWS IT TOWARDS THE SIDELINES AND...BOWE IS UNABLE TO GET A HAND ON IT!!!. SO IT WILL BE 2ND and 10 from the Bills 38 yard line.
  5. I love it....everyone called me insane when I suggested Michigan wouldnt make a bowl when they were 5-0. They told me this year was different than last year and UM was better. Now it comes down to beating Purdue, a team we lost to last year at home. I say its about 50-50 we beat Purdue, thus about 52% chance we make a bowl does purdue have anyone left on offense? or have all their injured starters returned and I just missed it? Does it matter? A walk on QB destroyed Michigan last week.

I still think you're giving up on Michigan a little early. I think they can win this weekend against Illinois, and I really don't see them losing to Purdue who has been decimated by injuries. I havent called a worst case scenario for any of my teams since like 2007. You are thinking of the old me. Part of my negativity was seeing a ton of Michigan fans biting on early season wins against teams that were proving to be really mediocore, and people constantly telling me that DRob was going to keep having 200/200 games against a big part of the Big 10 schedule. I saw a paper thin defense that was getting shredded by teams. I'll admit DRob has done better than I expected in the Big 10, but he's been nowhere near the difference maker he was earlier. I will also admit I've been annoyingly negative in my "I told you so" negativity towards Michigan, but that's because deep down it pisses me off to still be in situation where 6-6 and a bowl game is an accomplishment.
  7. I'm feeling strangely confident today. I think the Bears win 28-16
  8. yeah I posted that in last weeks thread. Bill Simmons called Cutler Jeff George last week so its spreading like wildfire now.
  9. You don't think Favre's antics have been taken to a totally different level ever since he left Green Bay? For real? No

  11. How are their facilities? Sometimes teams that you think should move up don't have a desire to because they don't have the resources or facilities to recruit in D1. I'm not saying thats the case with Villinova since there seems to be interest, I am just curious to see if they have things in place to move from FCS to a quasi BCS D1 program. It's not like when North Dakota St. moved up.
  12. Read Drew Magery on kissingsuzykolber or deadspin You're right. I forgot about him. I enjoyed reading his rant last week about Favre.
  13. Sweet, at least they'll have something to gain from their trip to NY.
  14. I don't necessarily find the fact that Packers fans hate Favre now funny. I find the fact that Packers fans* rip on the same exact same Brett Favre behaviors that fans of other teams have loathed for years. Meanwhile, Vikings fans* for the most part now love to see him dance around the field with his hand in the air and a [expletive] eating grin on his face as he throws a TD to put his team up 35-10. *not every fan exhibits these behaviors but a large majority do. I clearly know they are out there, but I havent yet met a Vikings fan that can't stand that Favre is on his favorite team, nor have I met a Packers fan who hasn't disowned Favre.
  15. What in the [expletive] kind of stupid game is this? Why the [expletive] does the first team have to receive the missed FG and kick it out of the end zone? Then why does the other team try to kick it back again? wtf? My best guess is that, they mentioned something about the non-FG kicking team needing to get the ball out of the end zone after receiving the missed kick, otherwise it is 1 point to the FG kicking team? So when the other team fielded the missed FG, they didn't think they could get it out of the end zone and instead kicked it away back to Montreal. Montreal was playing for a point so they punted the ball back into the end zone, which is when the other team botched the catch of the punt and the ball bounced around the end zone until a Montreal player caught it for a TD. It still leaves a lot of questions. Is the other team required to have some one field the missing FG? What if they didnt send anyone back to field it? Would it have gone to OT? What if the original team downed it after having the ball punted to them, would it have gone to OT? What if they decided not to catch one of the punts and the kick bounces out of the end zone...what happens then? What a strange sport.
  16. He didn't exactly go up and get the ball very often in Minnesota. He more like jogged half assedly towards the ball.
  17. Oh, heres a page with photos of all the rings they have: http://wsrings.stadiumpage.com/ And the pre-ring awards, going back as far as 1888: http://stadiumpage.com/WSRings/misc.html
  18. did you know that they've been giving out World Series rings since 1922 and every year since 1926? Also, pre-1922, many teams received some sort of commerative pin/pendant/etc. Here are the Cubs from 1907-1908 1907: http://wsrings.stadiumpage.com/1907.jpg 1908: http://wsrings.stadiumpage.com/1908.jpg I have no idea what 1908's is supposed to be. Maybe a pin?
  19. Fontenot has a WS ring.. Blah
  20. I'm all for improving at WR, but not with Moss. All these reports coming out how they felt like they were playing 11-on-10 with Moss out there, about how he gave up on most plays that weren't designed to go for him, refusing to return home with the team and participate in watching video, etc. I don't mind taking risks, but this isn't even a risk. It's asking for trouble. I don't know how well this analogy works, but if you could take a pill that gives you a 15% chance of being significantly smarter, but the other 85% of the time it gives you cancer, would you take it?
  21. I do actually think that someone at some point did because I'm not clever enough to think something like that up. I know that Ward, Taylor and Baston came in one year (while Jimmy King and Ray Jackson were still on the team) while Bullock and Traylor were the next year, so it can't be considered an incoming class of 5 players. ward, taylor, baston, willie mitchell, and travis conlan. but according to rankings, it was every bit the class the fab 5 was. ward was the #1 player in that class. Thanks for clearing that up. I knew that new major recruiting class after the fab 5 was highly regarded. Pretty disapointing that that class never made it out of the first weekend of the tourney. Not that any of that would have counted in the long run anyways.
  22. That's great, it should be everyone's answer when someone talks about career highs. "I don't know if you remember this, but I actually had a career high in my first ever NBA game! Career highs in several stats actually. I was ON that night."
  23. Yeah seriously. 2 of the games so far have been because the Cowboys have played the NFC North. And of course being a member of the NFC East means that they are going to be on TV often to fill the NFL's allotment for one NFC East intradivision matchup every 2 weeks on primetime. But I have no idea why I was forced to watch Dallas-Tennessee or worse Dallas-Jacksonville last week. And the craziest thing is, I am still scheduled to have 3 more Dallas games on my TV during the rest of the season because of Thanksgiving, a SNF game, and a Saturday game. Hopefully the SNF game will be flexed, but with my luck the Cowboys will make some sort of mini-comeback and be 4-6 going into the game against Philly.
  24. Just for fun I tried to look up just how many times we've failed from the opponents 1 this year. It is 10. DET 3rd and 1 at DET 1 - Forte to right tackle -1 yards 1st and 1 at DET 1 - Forte to right guard 0 yards 2nd and 1 at DET 1 - Cutler INC Pass Greg Olsen 3rd and 1 at DET 1 - Forte to left guard for 0 yards 4th and 1 at DET 1 - Forte to right tackle for 0 yards GB 4th and 1 at GB 1 - Cutler INC Pass Desmond Clark 3rd and 1 at GB 1 - Forte to right guard 0 yards CAR 2nd and 1 at CAR 1 - Taylor to right tackle for 0 yards 3rd and 1 at CAR 1 - Collins INT intended for Devin Hester WAS 1st and 1 at WAS 1 - Cutler to right guard for 0 yards, loses fumble Of course with the case of the Washington game, he did actually score, but the fact that it went unchallenged just adds to it. So 10 times we've run a play inside the opponents 1, 0 points scored, 2 turnovers, 7 runs stuffed for a loss or no gain. Cutler 0-2 Collins 0-1, INT Forte 5 carries, -1 yards Taylor 1 carry, 0 yards Cutler 1 carry, 0 yards, fumble lost Impressive boys.
  25. He was all right, but the Rangers just had better scoring chances compared to the Hawks. Defensive breakdowns led to all three of the Rangers goals. That's getting extremely old. Meanwhile, guys like Kopecky and Toews were shooting the puck right into Lundqvist's chest and pads whenever they had chances. There was that open netter off a rebound right near the end of the game that Sharp blasted about 16 feet over the goal as well Yeah I saw that....wasnt sure if it deflected off a stick though. Can't see how someone would miss an open net from 2 feet away that badly.
