  1. I love the Onion Sportsdome . Greatest show ever. http://www.onionsportsnetwork.com/video/cubs-hope-to-get-disappointing-soriano-in-shape-by,19206/
  2. I feel so dirty, but I am rooting for Detroit to beat LA. It's 2-1 Detroit in the 1st right now. If the Wings can get a regulation victory, the Hawks will be tied with the Kings for the 5th seed with equal games played. (kings hold the tiebreaker with 1 more win). Also right now, the Hawks currently have the 2nd best goal differential in the West, up +29 to +28 over Detroit up to the minute and 4th best differential in the NHL, behind Vancouver (+58), Boston (+46), and Philadelphia (+44). For comparison purposes, the Hawks finished with a goal differential of +62 last year. Here is the the 4-12 playoff chase for anyone too lazy to google it. GP PTS W 4. Phoenix 64 76 33 5. Los Angeles 62 74 35 (playing right now) 6. Chicago 63 74 34 7. Calgary 64 73 32 8. Dallas 62 72 33 -------------------------- 9. Minnesota 63 72 33 10.Nashville 63 72 32 11.Anaheim 63 71 33 12.Columbus 61 68 31 I only included Columbus because they have played 3 less games then some teams.
  3. Hawks have looked really good the last few games. They are back to controlling the puck, and doing a good job pushing the puck up the ice. It's almost like someone flipped a switch and they turned into good hawks again. Lets hope its not another mirage. Right now it looks like they are making their push.
  4. Phew, got the first goal of the game. I can relax a little now. All these games lately feel like playoff games. I feel like any loss is crippling, especially because these are all against teams we're fighting with. Conversely, every win over these teams feels huge.
  5. I love watching FNL (the TV series), and even though Buzz didnt write the TV series, just the book that inspired the movie that inspired the TV series, I might refuse to watch the last season on the account of him being a [expletive] moron.
  6. Frolik reminds me a lot of, well, Jack Skille. He puts himself in position to get the puck to the net, but he doesn't know how to bury his chances. Stalberg's the same way too. Skille doesn't have that move Frolik put on last night. And you're right about Stalberg. That guy is so fast sometimes, it makes me think he's loafing it the rest of the time. I completely agree about Stalberg. I'll watch him and see nothing special. Just your average 3rd-4th line winger. And then randomly I'll see him fly up the ice, make up a ton of ground and catch up to a puck before icing is called. And I wonder where that speed is all game.
  7. Damn, Colorado and St. Louis didnt do their jobs, so Anaheim and Calgary get 2 huge points each. Calgary jumps ahead of us in points by 1, but we have 2 games in hand over them. This is how 4-12 looks right now: GP PTS 4. Phoenix 64 76 5. Los Angeles 62 74 6. Calgary 64 73 7. Chicago 62 72 8. Dallas 62 72 ---------------------- 9. Minnesota 62 72 10.Nashville 63 72 11.Anaheim 63 71 12.Columbus 61 68
  8. He played great today in the 3rd, OT and the shootout. I missed the 2nd period so I don't know how many of those goals were his fault.
  9. Alright! We did it! 2 points. Not a regulation win, but I'll take it!
  10. Off to my worst enemy, a shootout. I believe the Coyotes have won the last few shootouts we've had against them, dating back to last year. I know the last time we played Phoenix, we also lost in a shootout.
  11. C'mon Frolik and Bolland, 2 straight offsides. How do you botch that 2 times in 30 seconds?
  12. A much needed point is earned, now lets go out and get that 2nd point. We need to get 2 points at home. We dominated that period until the last few minutes and nothing to show for it. We've outshot them 38-27 and yet we're going to OT. I get the feeling that the Hawks are a really unlucky team this year.
  13. You idiots, I said no letdowns
  14. Alright 2-0 Hawks! A regulation win would be HUGE. A reg. Win would put the Hawks in a 4 way tie for 6th 7th 8th and 9th place with the Hawks having a game in hand over Nashville and tied in games with Minnesota and Dallas. Also need an Anaheim and Calgary loss for an ideal night. No letdowns!
  15. Blake DimWitt. Ok that was bad.
  16. Wait where did his thread come from? I swear I checked for one before I posted it. Must have missed it. My bad, sorry CT
  17. First game of spring...game will be on 720 with Pat and.....Keith. The show must go on :( Z is scheduled to start and new Cub Matt Garza is scheduled to go after Carlos. Quade already posted his lineup for this game, which is said to be what the opening day lineup is expected to be, besides the pitcher. Fukudome, RF Castro, SS Byrd, CF Ramirez, 3B Pena, 1B Soriano, LF Soto, C DeWitt, 2B Zambrano, P
  18. No doubt. It sucks but I understand it. It's fine by me, despite my bitching, as long as they don't price them so high that they don't sell out and lose revenue to better the team in the process.
  19. $72 for the highest priced tier of games which I believe are opening day, Saturday and Sunday games in June, July and August, and maybe all cardinals, white sox and yankees games. Edit: nevermind, they created a new "Marquee" tier of pricing that is 13 games: Opening Day, the Yankees and White Sox series, and the Cardinals weekend series in August. This is the only possible way that the Pirates would every be considered a marquee game. In this tier, Bleacher tickets are now $72 plus taxes and fees. Platinum games are 17 games from mid-may to mid-August, and Bleacher seats are $58 Gold game are 19 day games (in the bleachers only) mostly pre-memorial day. They are $42 for the privledge. Then there's Silver games ($32) and 15 Bronze games ($20) that are all either in April or September (and last week of August). That's insane that you have to pay $72 to sit in the bleachers on opening day, and then 2 days later you can sit there for $20
  20. I don't know, with the number of tourists that come in the summer months, I think it is possible to make money reselling Cubs tickets. What it has cut out is the small time people that try to make money buying tickets just for the extra income. The scalpers who pretty much make a living doing this kind of stuff can still make money, they just can't make as much, and they have to put a lot more effort into it.
  21. $72 is insane. I hate bitching about ticket prices in general, but that is just way too much. I mostly can't stand the shady way they raise ticket prices. One year they tripled the number of top tier games, and cut the value dates almost in half. I think there are only 6 or 8 of those now. But that doesn't stop them from bragging about how tickets at Wrigley are as low as $14 (the price of a terrace reserve ticket 8 years ago). And then that whole issue with the "we aren't raising ticket prices, we're just seperating the face value of the ticket from the amusement tax" thing, where the face value is the same but you are actually paying more. Clever Anyways, I understand the need for it all, and I am all for whatever needs to be done to win the World Series. I just like to complain.
  22. continuing my 5 minute monopoly of this thread, I can also pull up tickets to the Friday White Sox game, which is completely unheard of. Want to take you and 18 friends to a weekend Cubs/Cardinals game? You can do that right now. Of course who the [expletive] wants to spend $72 to sit in the [expletive] bleachers, when 3 years ago I could have paid $40.
  23. I just pulled up 19 bleacher tickets to Opening Day with no problems at all. If you don't like bleachers, I pulled up 10 consecutive seats in the 400 level as well.
  24. If Vance [expletive] Nickelson has not bought any Cubs tickets 7 hours after they went on sale, either he's dead or the Cubs are in trouble.
