  1. If this has been discussed in this thread I apologize. How much do our chances of getting Pujols depend on retaining Jim Hendry? I cant see the Cubs canning Hendry if there is still a shot at getting him. And because we probably won't get that answer until well into the offseason, its doubtful we fire him no matter how bad this season goes.
  2. His eyes looked to be all over the place when he was walking off. I have a feeling he was concussed even though he got up right away.
  3. lol Koyie Hill...how much worse can you be
  4. A lot of talk on a couple of Wings sites saying that this move will also move Detroit to the Eastern Conference Awful. Probably a good thing for the Hawks to get a consistent contender out of the conference, but playing the Wings once or twice a year would suck.
  5. I dont mean to keep piling on but Buckner is so bad, I feel bad for him. He's really awkward in general. He keeps bringing up random topics at inopportune times. I know he's trying, but he's not succeeding.
  6. The score is strangely similar to the result of the first Cubs-Red Sox game at Wrigley in 2005. That one was a 14-6 Cubs victory.
  7. At least we're helping the Red Sox get a couple of their slumping hitters on track.
  8. The Red Sox have scored more runs in 5 innings than they did in the entire 1918 World Series.
  9. Doug Davis is the type of pitcher you can live with for awhile if you have a good offense. Innings eaters are worthless on a team like the Cubs who rarely score more than 4 runs a game.
  10. Holy crap they've only played 3.5 innings in 1 hour 37 minutes? Doug Davis is definitely at least a slight upgrade over James Russell, but I don't know if its worth it to double the length of the game for 1 or 2 less runs per game.
  11. Same here. I'm gonna give it another Cubs at bat before I turn it off. If this was any other matchup at any other park, I'd be playing video games or something already.
  12. It'd be awesome to have a lineup that works the count and has good at bats a majority of the time. We are so far away from that it's not even funny.
  13. Where art thou Chris Archer or Tom Gorzelanny?
  14. On an IF hit, a walk and a seeing eye single that hit the SS's glove on the way into LF
  15. BTW, spectacular throw by Koyie Hill. Just an amazing defensive catcher
  16. You know Doug Davis has been throwing 85 MPH fastballs for awhile now and has maanged to do OK for himself.
  17. Interleague matchups that are being played for the first time this year: Cubs @ Boston Cincinnati @ Baltimore St. Louis @ Baltimore Houston @ Toronto Tampa Bay @ Milwaukee Interleague matchups that still havent happened after this year: Atlanta @ Kansas City Cubs @ Oakland White Sox @ Mets St. Louis @ Angels Dodgers @ Yankees Tampa Bay @ Dodgers Minnesota @ Atlanta San Diego @ Toronto Texas @ St. Louis I can't believe after 15 years all these matchups haven't been played yet. That is some patience for the MLB to hold off on series like Dodgers @ Yankees, and Cubs @ Red Sox, not to mention other World Series rematches Minnesota @ Atlanta and Cincinnati @ Baltimore.
  18. So Westbrook is benched the entire 4th quarter but the Thunder wins. Gonna be an interesting couple of days.
  19. Carlos Boozer flowchart: http://www.tremendousupsidepotential.com/assets_c/2011/02/carlos-boozer-flowchart-thumb-520x390-13536.jpg
  20. I'll say the first part of the sentence. Certainly not the 2nd. It's harder to play someone closer than losing game 7 in OT on their home ice. but the fact that we were dominated ni game 1, outplayed in game 2, outplayed in game 6, and mostly outplayed in game 7 pretty much gives me no reason to say the Hawks were the 2nd best team or even 7th best team.
