  1. Sweet. I feel pretty comfortable about this news.
  2. So we would have finished 85-77 if our starting rotation was Dempster, Zambrano, Garza, Wells and Cashner all year. Or we could have finished 40-122 if our rotation was Coleman, Russell, Davis, Lopez, and Ortiz.
  3. Updated article from the Globe. Doesn't give us any new news regarding Theos decision but it does make some good points about what's going on right now and what sort of time table were looking at. Plus it makes fun of sullys article. http://t.co/xEWxb8sE
  4. I understand the argument that they will load the box to stop him since McNabb has a wet noodle for an arm these days, but I don't trust the Bears to stop any RBs these days.
  5. Whose twitter was that?
  6. If we somehow confirm that the Purple Shirt guy's story was correct, it just proves that sometimes rumors that are way too insane to be believed just end up being true. (i.e. SAS' Lebron, Wade, Bosh rumor everyone mocked)
  7. They're going to hold AP in check after failing to hold D'Angelo "60 rushing yards in the first 3 games" Williams and Javad Best in check?
  8. Just for fun...the Packers over that time frame: (1) Bryan Bulaga, T - Starting T (2) Michael Neal, DT - 3rd or 4th string DT (3) Morgan Burnett, DB - Starting SS (5) Andrew Quarless, TE - Backup TE (5) Marshall Newhouse, G - Backup LT (6) James Starks, RB - Pretty much starting RB (7) CJ Wilson, DE - Backup DE (1) BJ Raji, DT - Starting DT (1) Clay Matthews, LB - Starting, DPOY caliber LB (4) TJ Lang, T - Starting G (5) Quinn Johnson, RB - Not on team (5) James Meredith, T - Not on team (6) Jarius Wynn, DE - Starting DE (6) Brandon Underwood, DB - Not on team (7) Brad Jones, LB - Backup OLB (2) Jordy Nelson, WR - Backup WR that is on pace for 1,200 yards this year. (2) Brian Brohm, QB - Not on team (2) Patrick Lee, DB - 3rd string CB (3) Jermichael Finley, TE - Starting pro bowl caliber TE (4) Jeremy Thompson, DE - Not on team (4) Josh Sitton, T - Starting G (5) Breno Giacomini, T - Not on team (7) Matt Flynn, QB - Backup QB (7) Brett Swain, WR - Not on team I count that as 17 out of 24 picks still on the team, 9 starters drafted in 3 years (for the Bears I did 4 years and got 7), and at least 4 above average starters at their position.
  9. 2010: (3) Major Wright - Disppointment so far. Not starting quality at the moment. (4) Corey Wootten - Promising player who is never able to stay healthy, which is a big part of the reason he wasn't a 1st or 2nd round pick (5) Joshua Moore - Doesn't see the field (6) Dan LeFevour - Didn't make it past training camp last year. (7) J'Marcus Webb - His best quality is the fact that he's somehow a starter, annoying people who are trying to make a case against Angelo by listing the number of starters he's drafted over the last few years. Supposedly a raw talent that was forced into a starting role due to a lack of competent options 2009: (3) Jarron Gilbert - Not on the team anymore (3) Juaquin Iglesias - Not on the team anymore (4) Henry Melton - Solid player, but ideally a good 3rd DE that rotates in and out during the game (4) DJ Moore - Not sure how good he really is, but he's clearly found a spot on the team and finds himself in a position to pick off passes. Seems like he'd be a good Nickleback in the Ricky Manning Jr mold (5) Johnny Knox - May never be a superstar but he would have a role on most teams. (5) Marcus Freeman - Not on the team anymore (6) Al Afalava - wow I completely forgot about this dude. Another safety in Angelo's quest to find 2 competent ones (7) Lance Louis - Similar to Webb the year after, a 7th round raw talent being forced into a starting role. (7) Derek Kinder - Who? 2008: (1) Chris Williams - A bust relative to his draft position but I guess he's NFL backup caliber on many teams (2) Matt Forte - An obvious home run by Angelo here. I wouldn't be surprised if someone else advised him on this pick. (3) Earl Bennett - Probably the best overall "receiver" on the team even if he doesn't have the most talent or the ability to learn the playbook in a timely manner. Solid yet unspectacular guy. Would be a good 3rd or 4th WR on a team with actual WRs on it. (4) Marcus Harrison - Not on the team anymore (4) Craig Steltz - Another mediocre safety that is nothing special at all. (5) Zac Bowman - I guess he's ok. Marginal starting CB. (5) Kellen Davis - He's ok but he's not a starting quality TE in the league IMO. (7) Multitude of names that never played for the Bears all drafted in the 7th round - Yeah. 2007: (1) Greg Olsen - Solid pass catching tight end that was somehow expendable because Mike Martz didn't need him. Yeah... (2) Dan Bazuin - Thus begins the greatest draft in Angelo's history!!! (3) Garrett Wolfe - Remember the infamous "Garrett Wolfe" packages Turner used to employ? (3) Michael Okwo - Ha (4) Josh Beekman - Proof our line was almost as bad 3 years ago: Many were calling for this dude to start and were angry when we released him. (5) Kevin Payne - Ha (5) Corey Graham - The special teams wiz until he pulled an Ayenbadejo and prices his way out of town. (7) Trumane McBride - Ha (7) Aaron Brant - I doubt even his college coach remembes who this dude is. I don't know...I don't look at other team's drafts and evaluate them. Do other teams have this many random 3rd-6th round picks that are complete non factors in the NFL? Out of this list of 31 names, only 14 (i believe) are still on the Bears roster, 7 are starting for the Bears, and there's only 1 player that you could honestly say is an above average starter in the NFL (Forte). That's just not acceptable.
  10. No Theo Epstein's out there to get excited about though. Well no obvious ones anyhow. I hear Matt Millen is available. Just get someone who can, you know, make one out of every 3 draft picks worth something. Oh and one who addresses glaring needs on the team.
  11. Man if Angelo left the Bears, I might actually be nearly as excited as when Hendry was let go.
  12. I'll give you one guess what the Twins payroll was this season And they missed the postseason. Huh. I guess spending more wasn't the solution. So "Spending is inversely proportionate to winning" was your point then huh?
  13. Bears 16 Vikings 21 AD 15 carries 143 yards Roy Williams 1 catch 6 yards Lovie Smith 3 terrible timeouts
  14. I'll give you one guess what the Twins payroll was this season
  15. I chuckled. The only thing you can do with this piss poor bunch is chuckle at their ineptness.
  16. Did anyone see how much trouble Kellen Davis had lining up correctly during multiple plays? There was one play I mentioned earlier where Cutler screamed at Davis THREE times to go in motion. It was to the point where Cutler almost had to take a delay of game penalty because Davis was just sitting there with a blank stare on his face. I know its loud and he's scared of committing his 4th false start of the game, but come on man. There was also another play later in the game where Cutler (or Forte) had to physically grab Davis and push him in the correct direction so he was lined up properly. Overall the Bears looked really disorganized in general last night, and made a ton of mental errors that in normal circumstances can not be excused.
  17. 73% comp %, 0 ints and a TD and he still can't get a 100 QB rating. Must be because he can't complete or attempt a pass farther than 5 yards down field due to constant pressure. Gotta give the Lions credit though, the Bears usually thrive when their pass catchers can get YAC and the Lions didn't allow much of that at all. Very field open fields for the Bears. I think a big part of that is that their safeties were positioned very well on most plays. Forte made it past the first wave of defenders a couple of different times and there was always someone there to get in front of him on a good angle. I guess it helps when you can keep 7 guys back because you only need 4 guys to get in Cutlers face within 3.5 seconds of him snapping the ball.
  18. I wonder if it would have helped the LBs if we did have some depth and didn't have to rely on Briggs and Urlacher playing every moment of every game.
  19. Offseason plan: Fire Martz. We just don't have the pieces to run his little system, and when his system isn't in place, he is a negative for the team. Fire Angelo. Probably wishful thinking though. That's all I have right now, unless we need to rehash the glaringly obvious need for 3-4 offensive lineman, a game changing WR, competent safeties, depth at LB and DE/DT.
  20. No you go for a TD and the 2 point conversion for the tie.... ...that is if Lovie wasn't a complete dumbass in the 1st quarter.

  22. Defensive yards given up per game Atlanta: 386 yards New Orleans: 382 yards Green Bay: 392 yards Carolina: 543 yards Detroit: 395 yards Wow NO must be embarrassed to have only gotten 382 yards on the Bears D.
  23. Which one(s) can I get on my phone? I've got to hear what's being said. The "Sports Radio" iPhone app steams 670 the Score. ESPN Radio app streams ESPN 1000. Thanks. Very sad that I'm that I'm that interested in hearing what's being said when times are this bad. Sports radio is much more interesting to listen to when times are bad, especially in this city.

  25. They just said the Bears have given up more yards through 5 games than any Bears team in their history. History that dates back what 85-90 years?
