  1. Goddamit Omiyale
  2. Backtracking much?
  3. Some NSBBer is going to see 15 extra pages in this discussion and think 'ok what kind of dumb off tangent thing did they decide to talk about all morning' and then click on the thread and be shocked to see a bunch of news.
  4. Ricketts was introduced as the chairman of the Cubs on October 31, 2009. Same day as Game 3 of the World Series. Jesus Christ a game 3 was on Halloween one year? That's just sad. Just looked it up. The PC with Ricketts was on October 30, 2009, an off day between games 2 and 3 of the World Series. You're telling me Wikipedia has failed me? If this is correct, then yes: http://www.bleedcubbieblue.com/2009/10/30/1107922/new-cubs-boss-tom-ricketts-were
  5. Are they really going to let the Cubs announce this tomorrow? I doubt it. Ricketts was introduced as the chairman of the Cubs on October 31, 2009. Same day as Game 3 of the World Series. 6. who the hell are you? Someone who won't be around long
  7. Are they really going to let the Cubs announce this tomorrow? I doubt it.
  8. Do you guys think this Cardinals World Series title will be more painful or 2006? One positive, David Eckstein isn't around to win MVP this time.
  9. Yup, thats the article mentioned above.
  10. So, if the budget is $150MM on the dot (let's say), where would you guys expect that leaves us after draft/amateur signings? These quotes show me that at least a few GMs looked at what the Cubs were doing under Hendry and laughed at the Cubs shooting themselves in the foot on an annual basis.
  11. That's just really strange considering the deal hasn't gone through yet. I think this proves the deal all but has gone through, and there is just about no way that Theo isn't coming to the Cubs. They are just working out the details and having a hell of a time doing it.
  12. Well they did have a pretty mediocre offseason last year, so I'm not surprised that they don't appear all that talented so far. That said, their roster looked back last year too and they were a top 6 seed.
  13. Or we force you all to compete in an online battle royale banning each of you one by one until one remains, and your prize is to then be banned.
  14. I would say spending too much time with the puck in our zone and making lazy passes follow the pattern of last year, but its too early in the season to suggest its as bad as it was last year.
  15. Yup posted a couple of pages ago I believe
  16. I dunno I still saw a couple of really sucky turnovers in our zone tonight. It's gonns happen to every team on occasion but when it occurs because of lazy passes its something that should be addressed. I'll excuse Keith's turnover as normally he wouldn't collapse onto the ice randomly without any pressure. Great dominating win though. Fun as hell to watch.
  17. Bolland is [expletive] awesome
  18. Yeah its pretty much all for selfish reasons why it disappoints me. God he's just so dreamy...I want him in on those press conferences.
  19. Is it just me or do the Hawks just look like a fantastic team thus far, results be dammed.
  20. I guess after thinking about it, it can only be good for the Cubs that Epstein hires as many great baseball people as possible, and having someone fill the GM role allows them to hire a high profile guy who might already be a GM or a highly regarded assistant GM. At the same time, its slightly disappointing the Epstein will likely be the behind the scenes guy and the GM will be the one speaking to the media, attending press conferences for signings/trades/hirings, etc.
  21. Wow Keith, really? That is a Duncan Keith special For those that didn't see it Duncan Keith was carrying the puck out of the Hawks zone and just collapsed under his own weight and gave up the puck, still in the Hawks zone, and was quickly taken by the Coyotes and converted into an easy goal.
  22. We scored on a 5 on 3!!!
  23. I have Cardinals in 6, although that is the last thing I would ever want to occur.
  24. I said that the other day. I think the "boner for Boston" is gone.
  25. Even the likes of Wittenmyer and Levine won't entertain the possibility that it won't get done. Yeah, I just keep coming back to "The Red Sox can't really be that stupid." The Cubs are already paying millions of extra dollars for Epstein instead of going with a lesser-known candidate. If the Red Sox drive the price of Epstein to the point that the Cubs walk away, not only do they get nothing, but they actually lose quite a bit of cash. They can't be that stupid, can they? I suppose the ultimate irony would be if this did fall through and Theo spends 2012 in limbo, and next year the Yankees promote Brian Cashman and hire Theo as their GM. I'm thinking that would make Henry and Luccino wish that they hadn't jerked him around. Meh, at the same time they'd feel pretty smug knowing that the Cubs didn't get him after (in their own impression) failing to recognize the value of Theo.
