  1. UMhoops did a nice job breaking down the seeding scenarios for the Big Ten Tournament today http://www.umhoops.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/Seeds20Layout1_thumb1.jpg Assuming MSU beats NW, Wisconsin beats Penn State and OSU beats Illinois, its basically this: If MSU and UM win: 1. Indiana 2. Ohio State 3. Michigan 4. Michigan St 5. Wisconsin vs. Penn State If MSU and IU win: 1. Indiana 2. Ohio State 3. Michigan St 4. Wisconsin 5. Michigan vs. Penn State If Wisky and UM win: 1. Wisconsin 2. Ohio State 3. Indiana 4. Michigan 5. Michigan St vs. Penn State If Wisky and IU win: 1. Indiana 2. Michigan 3. Wisconsin 4. Ohio State 5. Michigan vs. Penn State Teams still alive for 1 seed: Indiana, Wisconsin, Ohio State Everyone except Indiana can still fall to a 5 seed although it would be very unlikely for OSU If Michigan loses to Indiana, it would take the loser of the MSU/Wisconsin game to also lose to NW/PSU to keep UM out of the 5 seed. Yikes.
  2. One thing in IU's favor, is that they don't have much competition for the Midwest region. If Duke or Gonzaga 1 seeds, they aren't going to the Midwest. Kansas could go to the Midwest, but I think they'd prefer the South. And I don't think the committee would put teams outside of their region just because none of them fully deserve it. Michigan is probably the only team that has a chance to take the MW #1 from IU, and if IU can win there or go further/win the B1G tourney that conversation is over too. Yeah I think Michigan would have to beat Indiana and at the very least get to the Big Ten title game and not lose to Indiana in that game to get the #1 in the MW, probably a #1 in general.
  3. I just did a twitter search for 'Patrick Sharp' to find that news out...looks like it originated from Yahoo.
  4. According to twitter, its looking like Sharp will miss at least 2-3 weeks. Wonder if Stan is on the phones right now.
  5. There is something to be said about putting together a streak during a season where you are playing almost every other night and battling fatigue and nagging injuries. The Blackhawks streak benefits from taking 9 months off after the 6th game and getting to resume it with a couple of additions to the team. I don't know it's not a huge deal overall but I can understand if people think its ever so slightly less impressive than doing it in one season. Just my opinion.
  6. I get his complaint. It is a little different when it comes between 2 seasons. Especially because the Hawks lost in regulation during the playoffs (albeit once in 6 games).
  7. Just like last week...another day another potential 1 seed loses. Tonight its Miami losing to Georgia Tech (at home) Edit: Oh and and Georgetown :)
  8. Q didn't really sound worried when asked about Hossa during the game. Sharps injury looked like the type of injury that would keep someone out for an extended period
  9. I wish I had some Guinness so I could do a car bomb right now
  10. Oh no we might only be 20-1-3 after tonight. And we were so close to the Flyers record (only 6 more freaking games)
  11. Losing your last 5 road games is a great way to go into the tourney.
  12. In 2003-2004, the Hawks won 20 games in an 82 game season (albeit they had 11 ties). This year they've won 20 games in a 23 game season (so far)
  13. Heard that one before I've heard that a lot from fans, but not from players. Before the latest Vancouver game there were quotes from I think one of the Sedin's that they were watching the game and hoping the Hawks won so they could break the streak
  14. Heard that one before
  15. Even that is a convoluted stat. What does it matter if the game was played in a Blackhawks uniform. That isn't an accomplishment. It's a nice long career, but in a league where guys often play for 5-6 teams it's really only noteworthy when somebody like Brodeur plays his 1000th for the same team. There's like 30 active guys with more games played. Plus, they gave him a picture of him with the cup from three years ago that he probably already has. Did somebody run out to the collectibles store and pay $75 for that? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_NHL_players_with_1000_games_played I think they gave him a silver stick with his name engraved on it too. Bottom line, it seemed a little odd to make such a big deal out of it, but I'd rather the Hawks have questionable ceremonies for their stars than go back to the Bill Wirtz era where our long time stars were alienated and estranged from the organization.
  16. Here's a pretty good breakdown of how the seeding at the top will work out after this weekend. It only takes into account the UM-Ind and MSU-Wisky results and assumes no upsets against the bottom of the league (like UM beating Purdue, MSU over NW, etc) http://www.cleveland.com/osu/index.ssf/2013/03/the_big_ten_scenarios_how_the.html
  17. Wow didn't realize that the Hawks had never won 10 straight before. Awesome!
  18. Hah, Michigan can somehow win a share of the Big Ten title by winning their last 2 games. Thank you Ohio.
  19. Fun reading through the HFboards Wild game thread
