  1. They just said on the score that there are somehow still tickets available for this one.
  2. Yep. Says a lot about the franchise that 2 of my favorite Cubs playoff memories (Wood's HR and the Sosa game tying HR) came in losses. I was 1 in 84 and don't really remember anything about the 89 playoffs so I guess those 2 moments go on a list with Gaetti's WC playoff HR (technically regular season but whatever), Wood's double in game 1 vs. ATL, Sosa's HR off the camera well, ARam's Grand Slam and absolutely nothing from 07 and 08.
  3. It would be nice if it didn't matter and wasn't a big story. If he was the 778th player to come out that would be the case. But it does matter and it is a big story. And if other people don't like it they are entitled to their opinion but they are also entitled to know they are horrible human beings. I understand it would be newsworthy and a bigger deal if it were someone like a Steph Curry, a rising star and young player with a promising future in the league for years to come. Collins doesn't currently have a job and it wouldn't be shocking if he doesn't have one next season averaging 2 pts a game. I question his motives and timing. That is all. How does it benefit him at all to come out right before he becomes a FA?
  4. I had all of those 03 playoff games on DVR and I deleted them in disgust a few days after the NLCS. I really wish I hadn't. I have almost no evidence left that Mark Prior happened. I just found this on MLB.com's YouTube page...the full game 7 from '03. No Prior but we can relive Wood's HR and pretend it was a walkoff.
  5. Sounds like it will only be allowed to display content that the MLB allows though. Not like the NBA where anyone is allowed to post full games to YouTube. Still a step in the right direction though. I just hate how great moments in the 03 and 08 seasons are basically lost forever to me.
  6. Jason Collins is coming out. Good for him! http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/magazine/news/20130429/jason-collins-gay-nba-player/?sct=hp_t11_a1&eref=sihp
  7. Also, my prediction is Hawks in 5. Chicago lets Minnesota take Game 4 to show their appreciation for beating the Stars 2 years ago to let the Hawks sneak into the playoffs.
  8. Doesn't mean anything at all but I hate the fact that the last time we won the President's Trophy we played a Minnesota team in the 1st round and bad things happened.
  9. If he doesn't play at all, he will still have averaged 30 minutes played in games 4 and 5. He looked like the walking dead at the end of the third overtime. wouldn't have been surprised if they'd had to "put him down" after the game. Can you add a player in the middle of a series if someone goes down like Kirk? Maybe...Rose? You can. I don't expect rose to come back in the middle of a playoff series though, definitely not one the Bulls are up 3-1. If there was a chance for Rose to come back (which I don't think there is) it would be to start a series against Miami if the Bulls can finish off Brooklyn.
  10. Just for fun, the Cubs current starting rotation Shark - 3.03 ERA, 1.10 WHIP Wood - 2.25 ERA, 0.97 WHIP Villanueva - 1.53 ERA, 0.75 WHIP Feldman - 3.92 ERA, 1.65 WHIP Jackson - 4.76 ERA, 1.41 WHIP
  11. Technically Jose Valverde is doing the same thing.
  12. Welcome to the wonderful world of hating the Red Wings. Its funny that Columbus has been in The Wings division since joining the league. I think they have played twice in the playoffs and now are fighting for last playoff spot. I still have no feelings one way or another about Columbus. I have thought and still basically have thought that this is about Detroit doing enough to get in, not any Wings vs Blue Jacket thing. I'm pretty sure Columbus has only made the playoffs once in their history but they did indeed play the Wings.
  13. Kind of funny that DET and CLB both play Nashville and Dallas in their last 2, with the home and road reversed.
  14. Wait we've played 2 periods in Edmonton and there are only 3 goals combined?
  15. So Detroit wins and pulls ahead of Columbus by 1 point. Both teams have 2 games remaining.
  16. I think Dallas might still be alive (barely) because they play both Columbus and Detroit in their remaining games. Detroit is in the drivers seat though because they have a game in hand on Lumbus True and Dallas has more ROWs (20) than Detroit (19) and Columbus (17). If they won the last 2 games in regulation they'd have to hope CLB only gets 1 point or less in their last game and Detroit would only get 2 points or less in their other 2 games. Probably not going to happen but its more likely than I originally thought.
  17. Joe Johnson has Joakim Noah disease and is a game time decision tomorrow.
  18. Yeah, I'd call it a "smaller major city". It has about the same population as Milwaukee. But as Tim mentioned, its metropolitan area is substantial -- about 4x larger than Milwaukee's. It's metropolitan area is larger, but it also is the only city with its own region supporting the same team. There's 14 million people almost exclusively in support of the Boston teams. Milwaukee is right down the street from Chicago with Minnesota to the West and Detroit to the East. The heart of Milwaukee support is basically just the 5+ million people in Wisconsin. I think the closest comparison to New England may be Arizona, which is the only game in town, for miles and miles. But that is a much more spread out population, and a huge portion of it is transplanted from other locations. For sports support conversations, Boston does not belong in the "smaller city" discussion. Normally, yes, but the discussion was around support in the context of attendance, not how large or widespread the fan base is. It doesn't matter if the Celtics fan base stretches to Vermont: a dude living in Burlington isn't going to a Wednesday night game at the Garden. Boston isn't even a top 20 city population wise, but it's top 10 when factoring in metropolitan area. By that measure, I shouldn't have referred to it as a smaller major city. Maybe not Burlington but I know Celtics fans routinely come from VT, NH, ME, CT and RI to go to Boston sporting events. I knew a guy when I lived in Concord, NH that had season tickets to the Bruins and would go to maybe 30 games a year, and thats like a 1.5 hour drive. Although Concord isn't in the defined Boston metro area, it is very much the hub of the region and people act like they are from Boston and talk about Boston like they are from there.
  19. So with Dallas losing in regulation last night, it looks like its going to come down to Columbus and Detroit for the 8th seed. Minnesota is 2 points up on Columbus so theres still a slight chance they fall to 8. Also Pittsburgh lost in regulation last night so the Hawks need 2 points in their last 3 games to clinch the presidents trophy
  20. Come on first 2 game winning streak of the season!
  21. Fact: The last time Kevin Gregg was the closer, the Cubs won 83 games.
  22. I'm sure this has been an eye opening revelation for them.
  23. He's pitched 2 days in a row, they may just not want to use him 3 days in a row. well suck it up, we need a win
