1. Michigan - No affiliation, wear the Walmart Wolverine tag with pride. Started following them in 1997 (never followed Fab 5), watched them go from #4 in the country to out of the NCAA tourney with a late season collapse. Next year they won the inaugural BTT and lost to UCLA as a 3 seed in the second round, then waited until 2009 for another trip to the tourney. Several great starts and late season collapses, the bubble always burst. For some reason I kept watching and following. I have no idea why I like them more than my undergrad, other than that DePaul's team blows and has blown for awhile. 2. DePaul - this is a close #2. Went to Blue Demons games in the early 90's as a kid. Always had a thing for them. The year before I transferred to DePaul I really enjoyed their last tourney appearance, Delonte Holland, Drake Diener and co went on a late season run and made the tourney, beat Dayton in 2OT in the 1st round before losing to eventual champs UConn. Went to a lot of games during my 3 years there...this was the period just before the bottom fell out of the program, still in Conference USA, Dave Leitao was still there, and only making the NIT was still a disappointment. Still go to 1-2 games a year. 3. Dayton - My wife's team, I started following them because its pretty much the only team she shows any passion for. 4. Northwestern - Always followed them from afar hoping they'd make the tourney one of these years.... 5. Illinois - Slightly ahead of.... 6. The Big Ten Field minus MSU and OSU
