  1. Brady Hoke is 2-4 against MSU/OSU
  2. Oh well, I was all for going for 2 there. Really sucks to fail but you get a chance to ruin OSU's season and give Meyer his first loss you do it especially when you can't stop the run in OT
  3. I want this win so badly. I need this win.
  4. Ok Bears need to win or face being down 2 games in the division with 4 to play in the only playoff spot that is available.
  5. We will always remember the 1.5 good games you had in your career Matt Flynn
  6. Football Outsiders projects the Bears to win the NFC north and get the 4 seed based on the games they have left on the schedule. Only 43.0% chance of making the playoffs overall though vs 42.9% for the Lions and 19.9% for the Packers.
  7. Maybe its because the players of my teenage years are on the ballot but I could vote for like 20 players on that ballot, especially if you ignore steroids and HGH.
  8. McCarthy says theres a slim to none chance Rodgers plays this week. I'm still not sure if I should be cheering for the Lions or Packers on Thursday. If Lions win: Lions will be 7-5, if the Bears win Sunday they will need to still play 1 game better than the Lions with 4 games left. If they lose its 2 games with 4 left making it very very difficult to win the division. But the Packers would need to play 2 games better than the Lions the rest of the way. If Packers win: They will be at worst 0.5 games out of the division lead with Rodgers back probably for the final 4 games, 1 of which is against the Bears. Lions would be 6-6 which is good since we lose the tiebreaker. The tiebreaker is pointless for the Bears vs. Packers unless the Bears tie one of their last 4.
  9. The Blackhawks, sole beacons of hope in a depressing stretch of Chicago sports, win again.
  10. That's what I was trying to say yesterday. Last year they could grit and grind to wins because there was always the "Rose returning" carrot dangling in front of them. By the time it was obvious Rose wasn't coming back they had banded together as a team and fought until they were eliminated. This year there is no carrot. Rose isn't coming back. The way the Bulls cap position is, this team probably isn't coming back with its core intact. It's deflating and then you have crazy man Thibs yelling at you like its game 7 of the Finals during the first quarter of a January game against the Wizards. I guess I could see the team improbably banding together again and getting a 6-7 seed but more likely we could see this team completely disinterested, tuning out Thibs, fighting with each other etc. Depressing either way
  11. He was laughing as he said it yeah.
  12. Yup. He's being really candid right now. He just said if they franchise him he will be there for training camp. He might miss a few OTAs but he wants to play and understands there are a lot of guys on the team that need deals too. Said he's thought about how the injury effects him and it sucks but all he can do is show up and play when he's ready. Didn't seem thrilled about it but also sounded genuine with his answers.
  13. My season has completely disintegrated. I was 4-4 when Rodgers went out, have lost all 4 since then and literally had to start no one (because I started Rodgers the week he got injured), no one (because my backup QB Geno Smith was on the bye and there was no starting QBs available to pickup, 12 team 2 QB league), then Geno Smith the last 2 weeks. I think I've gotten a combined 8 points from my QB 2 in the 4 weeks Rodgers has been hurt. Then my WRs went to [expletive]. Nicks hasn't gotten more than 40 yards the last 4 weeks, Blackmon has been suspended for the season, and Green was off last week. Again because its a 12 team 4 WR start league, there is not much out there to replace these guys. This week I got 6.0 fantasy points COMBINED from my 4 WR. My RBs are fine (Stacy, Gore and Tate with Lamar Miller on the bench) but Tate has broken ribs and hasnt done much since Foster was out and now it looks like Stacy has a concussion or something. Despite all of this, I'm actually tied for the 8th and final playoff spot (only 30 points behind in the tiebreaker). Unfortunately I'm also tied for last place, which carries a $100 penalty in my league. Ugh, thanks for letting me rant. Horrible season.
  14. There is a rumor going around twitter that a team source said the Bulls have no intention of playing the draft lottery this year, meaning no tanking. Of course its a stupid twitter rumor and even if that was said it could easily be a smokescreen or whatever.
  15. holy [expletive] a -11.1?!?!? Mills was -5.6 too and long -2.8, I didn't think the pass blocking was terrible other than Bushrod but wow I was wrong.
  16. HOW CAN THAT BE POSSIBLE WHEN THE ANKLE WAS A SMOKESCREEN TO THE OBVIOUS GROIN INJURY THE TEAM WAS HIDING!!!!11111 /kaplan Trestman just said during his PC today that he totally expects Cutler to play again this year.
  17. http://img.gawkerassets.com/img/197glo1wzvhahjpg/ku-xlarge.jpg
  18. Yup plus a buyout but I'm not sure if that counts for the cap
  19. Given this latest Rose injury, I just don't see a way the team pays the tax next year. JR is not going to get the repeater penalty with so many questions surrounding Rose. I am wondering, does amnestying Boozer and bringing Mirotic over while keeping Deng keep us in the tax? (assume you don't resign Hinrich)? How much worse of a team does that make us? That would be the most logical route I see the Bulls taking if they are dead set on being conservative like always.
  20. Bears now officially dead last in the NFL in rushing D in terms of yards allowed after yesterday's games.
  21. I say trade Noah too. I have a major man crush on him but he can't stay healthy and even with his contract he probably gets us the most in return out of any asset. I'm all for replacing the entire core sans Butler and whats left of Rose. Build around: Butler Mirotic Charlotte pick (hoping we get it this year) Bulls 1st (should be around 15-20) Return for Noah Return for Deng Rose There is a crapload of unknowns there, but I think the Bulls would be in a position with the right amount of luck (mostly whether Mirotic turns out and whether we can get a minor star from one of the 1sts this year) to have a solid team again and hopefully one thats not injury prone besides Rose. I'm not sure it's worth trading Noah given his unique skill set and the general fact that most NBA trades seem lopsided in favor of the team getting the veteran talent. You pretty much have to trade Deng because he won't return next year. Unless the Bulls hit a home run on one of those picks or Mirotic, that's not a good core. That's the point, I'm high on Mirotic. It's a bit of a gamble but this is the deepest draft in years and GarPax has shown to be more than capable of finding talent in the draft. Plus depending on the contacts you get back for Deng/Noah/Gibson, you would probably have financial flexibility to acquire a star player to go along with that core. Oh we could keep plugging Noah in there praying that he isn't limited for the playoffs (which I think he has been 4 of the last 5 years). Noah for a contract matching expiring and a mid 1st rounder would be good enough for me. I think a top 15 pick in this draft is like a top 7-8 pick in most drafts.

  23. If the East didn't blow I'd say who knows if the Bulls even make the playoffs Admirable that the Bulls were able to claw together 45 wins without Rose last year but to do it again with even less offensive talent might be tough for this team to do.
  24. Lions 6-5 Bears 6-5 Packers 5-5-1 I'm gonna guess they finish Packers 9-6-1 (4-1 rest of way) Bears 9-7 (3-2) Lions 8-8 (2-3) Just for maximum pain
