  1. Basically from what I'm reading Statcast ignores batted ball direction when calculating xOBA, so it treats a ceter/oppo fly ball (which are much worse batted ball types) the same as a pulled fly ball (the best batted ball type). Thus, extreme pull hitters are much more likely to outperform their xOBA because a majority of their fly balls are pulled. Some other heavy pulled ball hitters are guys like Jose Ramirez and Marcus Semien, 2 guys who also outperform their xOBA more often than not. I could be regurgitating this information wrong, feel free to pick apart.
  2. His numbers on the road are definitely lower than at home in each of the last 3 seasons. Don't know if I can find xOBA for road games only vs home but overall: 2024 home: .242/.371/.462/.833, 9 HR, 21 XBH, .362 wOBA, 145 wRC+ 2024 away: .251/.338/.413/.752, 7 HR, 15 XBH, .331 wOBA, 115 wRC+ 2023 home: .261/.368/.544/.913, 18 HR, 28 XBH, .388 wOBA, 159 wRC+ 2023 away: .241/.338/.440/.778, 13 HR, 27 XBH, .340 wOBA, 116 wRC+ 2022 home: .210/.320/.510/.830, 11 HR, 21 XBH, .355 wOBA, 143 wRC+ 2022 away: .202/.292/.378/.670, 9 HR, 15 XBH, .298 wOBA, 93 wRC+
  3. I was going to ask...if a player outperforms his xOBA 4 years in a row its probably not a fluke right?
  4. weakass hitting backup catcher hits a leadoff double, tags up and advances to 3rd on a flyout, Wisdom swings at a 3-0 pitch and pops it up. What a frustrating team lol
  5. Here is Parades expected HRs by park.
  6. Parades had 20 home runs in 2022, 31 in 2023 and 16 this year. If all his games were at Wrigley, he'd have 18 in 2022, 25 in 2023 and 11 in 2024. So playing at a park that is deep down the lines will kill some of that HR power but not as much as I would have thought. Good thing he's not going to Baltimore though, he'd have 9 in 2022, 9 in 2023 and 6 in 2024!
  7. Why do you see him as closer to a 3 win player? He was 4.3 last year, on pace for 4 this year. Only 25 years old. Is there something that in his profile that suggests the last 1.75 years are not representative of his ability? I really haven't paid a ton of attention to him to be honest. I see that all of his power is from pulling balls, but it doesn't seem to have affected his performance thus far?
  8. Parades now has the highest fWAR on the Cubs (2.9), beating Imanaga (2.5) and Michael Busch (2.1)
  9. Damn, I'm really sad to see Morel giving hugs in the dugout. I am ok with trading him but he brought a lot of energy and swag in an otherwise down period for the Cubs...sucks to lose someone fun like that. And the fact that the Rays traded for him terrifies me that he'll rake in TB. On paper I like the trade but it still stings a bit.
  10. Watching the highlights. After PCA hits the triple with 0 outs the Cubs started to Cub as Nico struck out and then Busch grounded directly to 1B with PCA going on contact. Any other player on the Cubs would have been yet another out at home for the Cubs, but with PCAs speed Perez opted to just take the out at 1B. Which is awesome for PCA but almost yet another Cubs failure with the “go on contact” play edit: also another on in the 9th with Nico hitting one to 3B with a runner on 3rd and 1 out. A good throw gets Swanson at the plate but the throw was bad. Admittedly a somewhat tougher play but one that could definitely have been made
  11. Haha wtf the cubs were up 3-1, in play a quick game of NCAA 25 and it’s now 7-4. Bizarre
  12. Lugo had a 3 hit CG game in his last start so maybe he’s less than sharp today.
  13. Of course they jump on Lugo for 2 runs early
  14. 13 teams have hit more home runs since the All Star Break than the Cubs have scored total runs. Here's some more fun stats since the ASB: Runs Scored - Cubs have 9 runs scored. The most runs scored is 50 by the A's Home Runs - Cubs have 2 home runs. The most home runs hit is 15 by the A's and Mets Runs - 30th HR - 30th BA - 28th OBP - 29th SLG - 30th wOBA - 29th wRC+ - 29th fWAR - 29th
  15. Men’s team looking strong today, up 2-0 early against New Zealand. Walker Zimmerman even get into the scoring column with a goal off a set piece.
  16. Nico also looked visibly upset after Seiya botched that play in RF. I think frustrations about how ****** they've been are coming to a boiling point. This is where the manager needs to get his clubhouse in order...
  17. He got pissy? What does he expect, the media to kiss his ass when he and his boss put together $235 million worth of trash? His supposed "win now" team has now played at a 66 win pace for half of a season (well, almost. 32-47 in their last 79 games) so not even the flagship station is going to give him softball questions when he's on the air and they shouldn't.
  18. I just really don’t understand how the offense was so good last year and so bad this year. Like it’s such a drastic drop in performance I just don’t understand
  19. 2 outs and nobody on and somehow 3 runs have scored and still going.
  20. Shocker, 2nd and 3rd with 0 outs and we don’t score
  21. Shocker Mastrobuoni couldn’t get the run in
  22. The cost of going to a game is insane now IMO. I haven't gone to a game all year, but I'm taking a trip to Houston for work next week and plan on going out of my way to attend an Astros game. Why? Because the same seats I can get at Minute Maid Park for $30 would cost me over $100 at Wrigley. More power to the Cubs because they can charge that much and the park is still packed, but it does suck that a big chunk of the fan base is priced out from going more than 1-2 games a year at most. Really the same thing with all teams in town except the White Sox which is crazy given the complete lack of success these teams have had over the past 6+ years.
  23. Mallory Swanson with 2 goals today in the USWNT's opening match win over Zambia. At least one of the Swanson's is still producing at a high level. Sorry, I couldn't resist.
