Gotta hand it to the pen...****** opponent and some dicey situations they put themselves in but 1 run allowed in 4 IP after Taillon made it a game again and knowing based on past experiences that the Cubs probably arent going to give them much run support.
The White Sox 8, 9 and 1 hitters have a .485 OPS, .560 OPS, and .595 OPS this year
keep that in mind when Neris walks the first one and is down 3-1 in the count on the 2nd one.
It is not shocking at all that the Cubs scored 7 runs with ease and then as soon as the game started tightening up couldnt manage any more runs against what I have to assume is a horrifically bad bullpen.
did they? I know the other CS the White Sox had was close enough that they had the camera on Sizemore to see if it would be challenged, but they didn't. Believe that was the 6th, so I don't think so.
You can already see the amazing story being written. New manager in their 1st game, down 7-0 early against their arch rival, no reason to think they could come back or that they would even care about trying to come back in a season that’s been over for months.
Yep, everyone gets relaxed and starts enjoying themselves in the game thread and the all the sudden it’s panic. Feels very much like that game with the difference being that we’re now playing one of the worst teams in baseball for potential added insult.
serves us right for trying to enjoy baseball!
You think Leiter, who pitches 1 inning in maybe 1 out of every 3 games is the biggest reason the Cubs bullpen era is a full run lower than everyone else’s in baseball over the last 5 weeks? Come on we’ve seen a lot of great pitching from several guys out of the pen.
