  1. Along with Anthony Rendon and Justin Upton. EDIT: And Casey McGehee and Justin Morneau. So does he have a shot?
  2. Peggy: You never add pitching Don: THATS WHAT THE MONEYS FOR!
  3. So according to Gammons, when the trade was completed, Beane said to Theo "you just got Barry Larkin"
  4. Is Vizcainos ceiling not that high anymore? Has he disappointed since returning or is it a combo of the system around him getting much better and the length of time it's taken him to get back from injuries?
  5. Alfonso Soriano DFAd by the Yankees as well. Can't believe we got legit interesting prospects for him.
  6. Watching that video alone I don't hear anything that Shark said that was a shot at the Cubs or that was at all surprising. There have been rumors that Shark has wanted out for a couple of years. I pretty much expected that Shark was excited to go out and pitch for a contender. I don't think it means he hated the Cubs or didn't understand what the Cubs were trying to do or anything.
  7. I'm guessing the same reason you don't argue balls and strikes in baseball. It's tradition. There is a rough system to it and people are used to they way it works. Pre-1990ish, they wouldn't even alert teams how much extra time they were getting. They just kept playing until the whistle sounded whether it was 1 minute or 5 mins.
  8. Not to be nitpicky but Clayton Kershaw would like a word with you.
  9. Would Costa Rica be the most improbable semi finalist in modern World Cup history?
  10. You might see Russell in there at some point. Not the Russell we want to see though.
  11. I understand how good Russell is and I've not said a bad thing about that portion of the deal. But Shark is a legit TOR pitcher and he has fewer innings on his arm than pretty much any 29 year old stud you're going to find. We got a great talent, but we gave up a great talent too and the 2nd and 3rd pieces are intriguing, but questionable. Not a bad deal by any stretch, but I'm not sure it's exciting either. I think you are overvaluing shark a bit. He's not prime Roy Halladay and he's only under control for 18 months. Although he has been unlucky the last 2 seasons overall he's pitched more like a solid #2 or 3 pitcher. This year he started out great but has faded a bit despite his season numbers looking great. He's a very good sometimes great pitcher. Getting a top 5 prospect, a top 100 prospect and a lottery ticket/worse case serviceable starter is more than fair value for shark and Hammel. If the cubs were contending this year I'd be pissed if the Cubs traded Bryant, Almora and Travis Wood for Shark and Hammel.
  12. Disappointed to find out Russell is not in the Futures game.
  13. Also this move pretty much locks Rizzo in as the Cubs all star this year doesn't it?
  14. I don't see Russell up in the first half 2015. He's a high school bat with 158 professional games and missed a large chunk of this season due to injury. I would think with the Cubs patient approach they would keep him in AA/AAA until they believe he's ready. 2014-2015 wave: Baez, Bryant, Alcantara 2016 wave: Russell, Schwarber? (If he follows Bryant timeline) 2017 wave: Soler (maybe 2016 if healthy and productive), Almora, McKinney Not including pitchers obviously
  15. Great pic: As it should be: teammates picking up real life after the end of hostilities. That's awesome. I love Everton.
  16. Ruggiano making a late push for trade value?
  17. I really hate that this team is going to be broken up in a couple of weeks.
  18. Agreed. IMO they should be prepared to gut the team if they have to. Get Rose, Noah and Love together and figure out the rest later
  19. Signed? Not many but superstars like Wilt, Kareem, Gasol and Howard have been forcing themselves to LA for years. I can only think of a few established superstars in their prime that have switched teams via FA over the last 20 years. Shaq in 96 (LAL), Grant Hill in 00 (ORL), Lebron and Bosh in 10 (MIA) and Howard in 13 (HOU). I'm sure I'm missing a couple though.
  20. stolen from like a million people on twitter, but how incredible would it be if it turned out lebron tricked wade into opting out for no reason and the heat didn't even make him a realistic offer? I'd rather that be true than have Melo sign with the Bulls
  21. So would jordan have had double the endorsements in LA or NY?
  22. http://m.washingtonpost.com/blogs/soccer-insider/wp/2014/07/03/landon-donovan-takes-a-shot-at-jurgen-klinsmann-i-dont-think-we-were-set-up-to-succeed-at-world-cup/
  23. Based on? Other than the rampant (and I'm not saying it's not justified or justifiable) belief/speculation that he won't turn down the additional money? Basically I'm asking if there's some sourced report you're basing it on? Half listening to ESPN I thought they said something like that but upon looking at realgm just speculation
  24. Knicks are flying to LA tonight to meet with Melo and try to get a decision from him ASAP. Sounds like they expect to resign him.
