  1. clearly you haven't visited desipio then. Hot sprot taeks fo' dat ass. That dude is to Cubs blogs as Neifi is to the best SS of all time. And he evidently hates Yellon. It's like Glass Joe fighting himself. Meh, desipio is cool, even though Andy still mentions in his infrequent posts something I said on here about him 7 years ago. If he ever went back to semi-regular posting and ripping on Cubs beat writers and bloggers, I'd visit every day.
  2. So Texas could have three [expletive] teams? what's wrong with one state having 3 teams? nothing wrong with it in theory, but SA is like somewhere in the mid-30's in terms of American TV markets, a heavy majority of the metro are huge Cowboys (and Texans) fans already, and the projected stadium needs rennovations (mainly needs about 50 more boxes to be NFL compliant) and is only seen as a temporary home, which means they will need a new stadium in the very near future. I can think of at least 2 North American cities that would be better fits for an NFL team (LA and Toronto).
  3. I actually have a legit memory of my parents taking me to some electonics section of a department store and buying it. I had no idea what it was because all my friends had NES. I was so pissed when I found out you couldn't play Mario on it. My uncle also had an SMS for the longest time. Him and I were the only 2 people I knew of that had one. All that said, Reggie Jackson baseball was the [expletive].
  4. I feel the opposite. There's a dozen psychopaths on here that scare me away from posting. :-) But the discussions are always either incredibly insightful or train wreck awful, so at least it's always interesting to read. this is what I was thinking was the reasoning. There are like 10 posters that make up like 85% of the posts on this forum and they all have an edge to them. then again, one of my first posts on this board was trying to argue that juan cruz could never be a starter because he was too skinny and didnt have stamina because of it, got torn apart, and I survived. I also once openly marveled at the fact that Matthew Broderick managed to catch a real foul ball at the game he attended while filming Ferris Bueller. I was (still am) an idiot.
  5. No one is going to be doing lines of coke or having sex in the bleachers if that's what your worried about. There's an occasional fight but highly unlikely on a weekday afternoon. Mostly just some language and possibly NSF kids heckling at the opposing OFers.
  6. It still seems like he's had a lot of hard hit balls right at guys recently. I know. And he's walking at a great rate for him. Just sucks as I was hoping he'd have career best numbers this year. Still time I guess.
  7. Had Sega Master System and NES. Remember playing games like Alf and Reggie Jackson baseball on SMS, but NES was the system I fell in love with. Next generation my parents bought me a Genesis so I guess I'm more of a Sega guy. From there I went Sony and have had every version of playstation since (although I had a wii like everyone else)
  8. Castro slump update: .219/.300/.267/.567 with 6 XBH (all doubles) in his last 143 PA (since June 20)
  9. Is it possible the Cubs paid Jaxon all that money to blow every 5 days and help the Cubs get good draft picks?
  10. Anyone know where to find OMC's (i think) old gif of the cat and the dead mouse clapping? Was trying to post it for the gif-fest
  11. Admittedly, I haven't followed the Lions' offseason. Is there any particular reason why they wouldn't blow it again? It feels like people are continually picking them for better results than they actually deliver. I'd have to agree on their Packers prediction. I think the general narrative is that Schwartz didn't have control of his team and this led to the Lions collapsing the last 2 seasons. Jim Caldwell is supposedly a players coach who will keep them steady and let their talent shine. Or something like that. And they signed Golden Tate to take less pressure off of Megatron. Not saying I buy it necessarily, its just what I've seen out there.
  12. That site doesn't like us. Projects us to finish either 7-9 or 8-8, gives us the 19th best chance of making the playoffs out of 32 teams. Teams like the Giants, Lions, Falcons and Titans are given better odds. Meh
  13. PTR is taking the family out to Olive Garden tonight!
  14. wow I had no idea he was still around and pitching now. That's a blast from the past.
  15. Haha, I know there are a lot of examples like this out there on the internet, but the reddit people are usually fairly rational.
  16. People on RealGM seem really against trading Taj to better the team (not even just in a Love deal)...look I love Taj and think he's worth the $8 mil a year, but the issue is that we have a glut of PF's that deserve minutes, Taj is the most tradeable asset among them (given verbal assurances from GarPax that Mirotic won't be traded at least this season), and we (IMO) have a huge need at 2/3. I would hate to do it but for the right deal I'm absolutely fine with trading Taj.
  17. I think MLB.com just updated their top 100 rankings to include 2014 draftees. They are kind of all over the place. Cubs have 8 in top 100: 4. Bryant 6. Baez 7. Russell 37. Alcantara 41. Almora 54. Soler (???) 60. CJ Edwards 80. Schwarber http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/prospects/watch/y2014/#list=prospects Edit: dammit beaten by a minute.
  18. Castro now at the second lowest rate of his career in all slash mark stats. The good news is that his lowest totals were all last year but man is he sliding quickly.
  19. Come on Bryant. Be amazing again.
  20. Any chance he sees Iowa this year or is that too aggressive with a month and change left?
  21. I thought its illegal to commit rape, murder, molest, grope, cork, stuff, bang, or commit battery of a baseball on NSBB as of last week? Javy sure did take that baseball to prom though if you know what I mean! Sorry. What I meant was Javy hit a ball really hard....right in it's tight vagina. The vagina consented to it though...that's the important part
  22. Cubs not as fun to watch when Castro and Alcantara are struggling
  23. Dammit Arrieta why aren't you going 7 no hit innings every start anymore?
