  1. Man Bryant's OPS is under .800 and Rizzos under .900. Rizzo had an ops over 1.000 like 3 weeks ago and Bryant had an OPS in the high .800s
  2. Cubs team warning track power is off the charts
  3. 31 pitch inning for Hendricks 10 pitch inning for De La Rosa
  4. Welp hope the Bullpen is ready to pitch a bit today. Already 30 pitches and the inning isn't over.
  5. Also apparently the Hawks championship DVD comes out tomorrow.
  6. The Rockies are an insurmountable foe. 51-49. Book it!
  7. I wish we had someone like that on last year's Bears to give us the inside dirt on how disfunctional it was.
  8. Cubs are now 24-25 against sub-500 teams and 27-21 against +500 teams. At least I think so. Have to check to see if any of those teams went from under to over or vice versa since the ASB
  9. I think getting that playoff experience will help them more than failing in the regular season brilliant insight
  10. 1) we were 3 games out last month and won 6 in a row and came back to eventually take a 4 game lead. None of the other 2 teams in the hunt are clearly better than us and I don't see any of the 3 teams pulling away so what's the point of worrying that much in July? 2) Worst team in baseball is 8-1 since the break (5-1 not against us) so obviously a team we caught in a hot stretch while we were in a down stretch. It happens during a long season. The 2006 Cubs were awful but swept the World Series winning Cardinals twice (1 a 4 gamer) during that season. They obviously bounced back. Again it's one series in July. Before that we weren't playing our best but we were still treading water (7-7 in previous 14). Most teams, even the best teams go through periods of mediocre play over a long season. It just happens. 3) don't know much about the effort thing but part of the reason we hired Maddon is because of his successful experience managing a group of young players and keeping their focused on giving effort every day. If there's an issue I'm pretty confident we have the right guy to address it. Key point is that this is one small stretch in a 162 game season. Every team has peaks and valleys every season and it's not worth getting upset over all that much in July. I'm not saying it doesn't suck but with perspective it sucks a lot less.
  11. Umm win tomorrow? I don't know why everyone is so down. This weekend sucked but there are over 2 months of baseball to play and we've seen the team play a lot better than this

    Castro

He's a [expletive] 21 year old rookie! And Starlin's a 25 year old, 3 time all star with a career line of .284/.325/.410. So maybe we shut the [expletive] up and give them both the benefit of the doubt. With a combined line of .258/.299/.367/.666 over the last 3 seasons (1671 PA).
  13. Glad we could revive Ryan Howard's career
  14. So 2 hits today through 6 after 0 yesterday... Do something Maddon #firemallee
  15. I keep forgetting people that think this way exist You know who has been saying this for 4 years, he just writes more eloquently
  16. Yes a 3 game series in mid july of the first quasi "go for it year" proves that Kyle was right all this time
  17. i remember you also saying some random win against the dodgers was the turning point in the season and that we'd all remember it Sorry I don't believe anything so positive ever came from him
  18. See and we have now gotten to the point where I'm not sure if this is sarcastic or not. I wasn't being sarcastic. It's almost like it's possible to put a bad run of baseball into perspective and not assume that this is the best we can ever play.
  19. We were struggling offensively way before that game. The difference is the pitching was overachieving and has now come back to earth
  20. No it's just a bad weekend imo but obviously things are trending downward so while its concerning its not hot garbage level yet They're about to be 5-8 in a stretch against the White Sox, Braves, Reds, and Phillies. It's not just one bad weekend 1-The game isn't over yet 2-yeah not a great stretch of games but the sky isn't falling and we've proven to be a lot better of a team. My biggest concern is that of the regulars half of them (Fowler, Castro, Soler and Russell) have hit well below expectations, 3 of them have hit about at expectations but probably all 3 have hit slightly worse than we hoped (Rizzo, Bryant, Montero) and 1 player better than probaly expected (Coughlan). And of those eight, 5 of them and trending downwards (I'm giving Soler and Russell a break because they've both had better abs and hitting ball better lately) including the 2 best overall hitters. So i want to better understand why pretty much an entire offense is underachieving and if anything showing signs of getting worse. We've all seen entire offenses slump before but it's rare when its for this extended period of time. I know people think the hitting coach thing is a meatbally scapegoat but how else do you explain it? Part of it may be a lot of young hitters getting used to the majors but that doesn't explain the extended slumps of Castro, Rizzo, Fowler and montero before his injury. If it's just a really unfortunate coincidence that everyone is slumping at once then it should correct itself and we will be fine and eventually play better. If it's terrible coaching, not finding mechanical flaws, not properly preparing hitters for the pitchers they are facing, then a change has to be made to see if it helps at all. Because it can't get much worse
  21. I don't want to hear about his hamstring injury. If he wasn't healthy don't pitch him
  22. No it's just a bad weekend imo but obviously things are trending downward so while its concerning its not hot garbage level yet
  23. Man even when Rizzo hits the ball hard its a bad luck liner right into a DP
  24. Bryant king of the Warning Track Power ® this weekend
  25. Hmm well I guess maybe having Schwarber starting yesterday might have helped...imagine that
