  1. I say if we lose today we have either Butters, SSR or soccer10k start the next game thread. Time to bring out the big guns.
  2. Man that Lester ERA by month [expletive] is legit April, June, August: ERAs over 5 May, July: ERA under 2
  3. FML This is like June all over again with our hitting with RISP
  4. They made him leave before completing 5. I'm sorry that variance didn't go our way tonight, like it has about 10 times already this month. Oh, I know. What's more frustrating is the fact that the Cardinals and Pirates, two teams also prone to baseball variance, don't [expletive] lose. They've been winning all the matchups they're supposed to win. So have we. You probably aren't supposed to win series against the Dodgers and Giants at their place. Based on pitching matchups the Cubs had the favorable matchup in 3 games, disadvantage in 2 games and probably a push in 1 (peavy/hendricks). We lost the push game and by virtue of playing in 2 very tough parks to win you probably lose a game you shouldn't have
  5. Man Rizzo has swung at some terrible pitches lately
  6. Other than Howell who came in for 1 batter, the Cubs haven't faced a pitcher tonight with a Dodger ERA lower than 5.48 Of course that's misleading because it amounts to about 50 innings of a sample size
  7. I've had a bad week personally and the Cubs have not made it better for me. Still in good shape, I feel like the west coast just threw us off. 17 games in Chicago with great hitting conditions. Kept it hot the first game of the trip and then all the sudden they went quiet against Peavy, couldn't get anything going against the 2 aces and now it feels like it's carried onto tonight.
  8. I feel like we get 2 strike counts on every hitter this inning but can't put them away
  9. Blah started the month 12-1. Since then 6-7 unless we come back tonight
  10. I'm not sure getting shut down by two of the best pitchers in the game back-to-back counts as a slumping offense. What's no fun is these [expletive] West Coast trips. Yeah but getting shut down by Peavy and Latos isn't all that good
  11. Sucks that if we don't win tonight we will have lost the absolute maximum number of games over the last 4 days to the 3 teams we care about. 4 to the Pirates and 3 each to the Giants and Cardinals.
  12. offense is the bigger reason for the losing streak. We should be up big in this one considering the caliber of pitchers we faced tonight so far. 6 runs in 4 games isn't going to cut it.
  13. I left for 5 mins and we gave up 3 runs? Better be a stopper tomorrow Jake if we can't come back
  14. Schwarber does not look good against left handers at all. I think he's striking out in over 50% of his ABs against them
  15. I'm sure either Denorfia or Szczur will PH for Coghlan. Right and they both suck
  16. This is where it sucks to have 3 straight lefties due up. Huge AB coming up and Schwarber has to face a LOOGY
  17. I know this isn't true but I feel like Bumgarner and Kershaw back to back out our bats in a funk
  18. OK its been like 3/4 of the season and I'm still not comfortable with the way that Fowler chooses to catch fly balls.
  19. You have to throw to first if you start a pickoff to first from the rubber. If you don't want to throw, you need to clearly step off first. Latos turned to throw to first, saw no one was there, and tried to basically finish a hop move(that would've been a balk still) to try and muddy the waters. i love you tt
  20. Montero's catching has not very good lately. Maybe his pitch framing has gone well but he's allowed a ton of extra bases.
  21. Damn. I thought he might have at least had extra bases there
  22. Yeah he's in a slump. Pretty much all the prospects we've brought up had an initial period of success followed by a slump and then later adjustments. We know the dude can rake so it's nothing to be concerned about long term.
  23. [tweet] [/tweet] Hope the person is ok of course but lol
