  1. Can you explain that seemingly counterintuitive discrepency? Also 35% probablity to the WS with the next best team at 9.5%, lol. Just a guess but it might have to do with the fact that the Cardinals have the 3rd best run differential in the NL but are 2 games over .500.
  2. 37+23=60 But yeah that's pretty freaking awesome
  3. I know these are very rudimentary numbers and there are much better ones to use, but sometimes its fun just to look at back of baseball card numbers when they look awesome. I present: the Cubs rotation currently. Jake Arrieta - 1.56 ERA/0.89 WHIP Jason Hammel - 2.09 ERA/1.16 WHIP Jon Lester - 2.29 ERA/1.02 WHIP Kyle Hendricks - 2.84 ERA/0.92 WHIP John Lackey - 3.16 ERA/0.97 WHIP
  4. One thing I really wnat to see now is Russell get out of his slump. His OPS was like .820 in mid-May, now its in the .690 range.
  5. What if he had the ability to do that all along, but just couldn't beat the perception that he always gets hit hard the third time through the order? This was my thought. Joe has always had the quickest trigger with Kyle once the third time through the order begins April 26 - 5 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, pulled after 69 pitches May 5 - 6 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, pulled after 87 pitches May 22 - 5.1 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, pulled after 85 pitches 2015: Oct 3 - 6 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, pulled after 79 pitches (might have been intentional with the playoffs around the corner) Sept 28 - 6 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, pulled after 90 pitches Sep 6 - 5 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, pulled after 75 pitches it goes on and on
  6. YESSSSS Rizz needed that horsefeathers! 1) First home run in a few weeks 2) Taken to dead center, not pulled into RF 3) Off a lefty, whom he has been struggling mightily with.
  7. They are pretty damn close in terms of may numbers. Zobrist defenders will say his OBP was almost .500 and had a higher overall OPS. Murphy defenders will say Murphy had a higher average and slightly more power, as well as struck out less. Zobrist in May: .406/.483/.653/1.137, 6 HR, 7 2B, 25 RBI, 16 BB, 16 K, 25 R Murphy in May: .416/.424/.673/1.096, 7 HR, 8 2B, 23 RBI, 2 BB, 12 K, 17 R I personally think Zobrist should have won it, but I don't think its laughable that Murphy won it The on-base advantage is way more significant than any slight advantages Murphy had in BA or SLG -- that's like one double falling in. Zobrist holding a .059 OBP advantage is much more significant. He was on base quite a bit more. Again I think Zobrist should have won for the reasons you listed, I just don't think its laughable that Murphy won. More like annoying.

  9. that's a great question, anyone have an answer?

  11. Miggy gets a runner over to 3rd with less than 2 outs with a passed ball...shocking. And the run scores, thanks Miggy!
  12. Dodgers now doing their graphic about the Cubs billy goat curse. I'm glad no one in LA is allowed to watch Dodger games.
  13. When Rizzo hit his 11th HR on May 14th, he was among the MLB leaders, and Kris Bryant was 2nd on the team with 6 HRs. Now on June 2nd, Rizzo still has 11 HR, Bryant now has 13.
  14. Love watching Schwarbs going nuts in the dugout.
  15. Soler's is my favorite, when he connects it looks like he clobbers it effortlessly into orbit.
  16. Also the Dodgers announcers just called Hendricks 'Kendrick' and no they weren't talking about Howie.
  17. Oh man, that's a HR yesterday. Thought it was gone off the bat.
  18. Nice to see Heyward going the other way for a hit against a lefty
  19. Dodgers announcers bagging on Hendricks, saying if it was 2-0 with Arrieta or Lester on the mound, they might be done for, but with Hendricks on the mound, the hitters have to think they have a chance to come back. To their credit, they did go on to compliment him on his pitching style despite overpowering stuff.
