  1. counterpoint: the cubs are supposed to be the best, the ones curbstomping others I stand by my wording. We're getting beat down by ourselves as well.
  2. It certainly always looks more glaring when the long .500 stretch is at the start of the season rather than a random 32 game sample in July/August
  3. Well at least the 2 teams that have curbstomped us during this streak are a combined 42-21, we we're getting beat down by the best.
  4. Only 4 more runs allowed today to have a negative run differential for the season.
  5. Ooooh, look, it's our resident bastion of positivity! Eh, I think he gets a pass today, given that 80% of the posts in here sound pretty similar to that one. This is not at all fun to watch, but I just can't bring myself to care too much. The offense is too good, the division is too bad, and we've got more than enough in reserve to trade for whatever holes we have. Plus, the whole World Series Champions thing. Oh yeah this is one of those few times that negativity feels right. That said, i know most of the people that are letting themselves go today have enough perspective to know that this team is capable of being significantly better (duh).
  6. Jake still hoping for that 7yr/$200m contract after the season?
  7. ....then the next worst thing would be to score only 1 run, on an RBI groundout
  8. Yeah not really basing it on this start, but he hasn't looked all that great this year, nor has Lackey or whoever our 5th starter is. Lester and Hendricks have looked the best but neither of them are even pitching nearly as well as last year and neither are going deep into games. He's striking out 11+ guys/9 and walking 2.3 w a kind of ridiculous HR/FB rate Today he has given up a couple hard hit balls but also a ton of BABIP crap and the error Damn peripherals look better than my eye test.
  9. Normally being in Coors I wouldn't put much into a bad start from anyone, but Jake and the rest of the rotation (except Lester) might just all suck/be hurt. Yeah not really basing it on this start, but he hasn't looked all that great this year, nor has Lackey or whoever our 5th starter is. Lester and Hendricks have looked the best but neither of them are even pitching nearly as well as last year and neither are going deep into games.
  10. How no hockey player has been able to create a real life knuckle puck is beyond me. Don't give me that crap about physics.
  11. Remind me how the extra roster spot works with DH's. Are you allowed to have 26 active guys for both games, or a 26th guy that can be used in one of the games? Assuming the Cubs will bring up a pitcher given how the last week has gone, but possibly would be cool to bring up someone like Candelario for a day if he is eligible in both games.
  12. The Ducks have been good every year for a while but I'd be hard pressed to name you 2 players on that team. I mean just completely off the radar WTF? Getzlaf, Kesler and Perry are pretty much household names in the hockey world. Eaves and Vermette probably on that next tier down.
  13. Good but double header tomorrow kind of sucks
  14. Doesn't the waiver process go through the entire NL first, then the AL? Oh I thought it was just reverse record but I'm no expert
  15. Looks good in a pair of jeans
  16. Jesse Rogers hacking into the Rockies twitter account....Not cool
  17. A little bit. He's still awkward as hell, but he has some decent insight. He seems terrified of the camera and refuses to look into it I don't watch much pre/post stuff. I've literally seen him once for about 45 seconds and that was my one takeaway.
  18. SF, TOR and KC will regret the day they passed on scissors
