The call was [expletive] but I'm more mad at our composure. Or at least Willy's. Lackey we know is a stupid hothead. Willson might get suspended for his reaction plus we lose him for half of the game. That cant happen with 16 games left in a tight pennant race.

I'm a moron but I never mind being aggressive sending a runner with 2 outs and the bottom of the order due up, unless the OF has a notably good arm. I have no idea if Pham's arm is good, but if its average or below average, there's always a chance of a bad throw.

I have no memory of hitting him well. 2015: 5 G, 5.24 ERA against the Cubs 2016: 5 G, 4.80 ERA 2017: 3 G, 2.25 ERA So uhh....he's gotten better I guess.

Lackey might be 0.12% more likable if instead of giving up a run in the first inning every time, he spaced them out a bit, like maybe one start he gives it up in the 4th or something. I know crazy idea.

I'm very wary about how much Russell can contribute the rest of the year TBH. If his range isnt there because of pain or the risk of reinjuring the foot, then he can't play SS. Plus coming back after 7 weeks off and no rehab (besides the game he played when he reinjured himself) I expect a rusty bat. But I'm happy to be pleasantly surprised.

Cubs just need to go 8-8. There are 5 "non Cardinals/Brewers" games left on the schedule. Even if you win all 5 of them, that means the Cubs went 3-8 against the Cardinals and Brewers. Lets say its worst case scenario and all 3 wins are against the Brewers meaning the Cardinals won all 7 of the upcoming games. If that were to happen, the Cardinals would still need to go 4-4 in their other 8 games to win the division if the Cubs went 8-8 in their last 16. But again that's worst case scenario. A more likely slightly less disastrous scenario (for an 8-8 Cubs team) is the Cubs go 5-0 against Rays and Reds, go 2-5 against the Cardinals and 1-3 against the Brewers. If that were to happen, the Cardinals would have to go 7-2 in their other 9 games, and/or the Brewers 9-3 to overtake the Cubs. Also, the Cardinals and Brewers play a 3 game set the last weekend of the season, so that guarantees that 1 of those teams will lose at least 2 more games. Edit: And on the positive side, if the Cubs go 4-3 against the Cardinals and split against the Brewers, that would put them in a situation where even if they lost 3 of 5 reds/rays games, the Cardinals would have to go 9-0 and the Brewers 10-2 to overtake the Cubs.
