  1. Really? They had one catcher, no Darvish, Russell and Almora starting full time, Chatwood in the rotation, an insane schedule, Heyward was worse, Bryant was hurt... The Cubs could have been fielding the corpses of the 1899 Cleveland Spiders and the comeback the Brewers made would still have been improbable.
  2. Heh. I meant Castellanos, but sure, sign me up for Suave.
  3. We need to give that man some kind of a really, really cool nickname. He deserves the very best.
  4. Well, if you are only considering Div. 1 football and basketball, that's partly true, because some of those best players still play by the rules.
  5. I mean, ultimately I think the kids should get paid, but SOME of what he's saying makes sense. Its easier to romantisize college sports without money, and that counts for something. But there is still going to be enough romance to go around. Much of that cheesy stuff Tim listed off will still exist even if you pay student athletes well past living wages.
  6. Pirates wisely pitching around our entire line up at this point.
  7. Splitting hairs maybe, but if it's not actually spewing from the mouth of some crotch fruit (thanks Kyle) it's not as bad. Not to mention I think that's a gif from Life of Brian, so it will stand. Haha! Crotch fruit. Nice pull.
  8. Emotion aside...hmm. I think the Cubs should be about 50/50 to make the playoffs. ...after I look it up, FG has us at 49.9...so I guess that sounds right.
  9. He has to finish the season so that replacing him can be sold as a big offseason move in lieu of a real signing. Theo and Joe Girardi will talk all offseason about building a culture of accountability and Sergio Romo will be the team's biggest signing.
  10. I think the average OPS of the 3 hitters involved in triple-walk walk-off was around .530 Epic. [bbvideo=560,315] [/bbvideo]

  12. Welp, I picked a good day to be overly busy to start my game thread on. Brutal. Honestly tho. Who should win this match up. This guy: (with the awesome gfycat name of "thumbs.gfycat.com/WellwornAcclaimedAmericanwirehair-size_restricted.gif ") ...or this guy? It's a no contest. Win please.
  13. I said something similar after week 1 last year, but last year I actually believed it.
