  1. Halfway through the 1st period, the Hawks made TNT blackout the game in Chicago. This was after the Hawks told media members this would not happen. They sure hate their fans.
  2. If the Lions get the #1 seed, can’t they talk during the Lions’ bye week?
  3. George or Kevin kept that from happening?
  4. Mark Potash asked a follow up to Warren on whose decision it ultimately would be when it comes to hiring the next head coach. Warren said he expects be in agreement with Poles, but if not the choice is ultimately Poles’.
  5. The Bears were only fighting for two years of property tax reassessment
  6. I've said this a few times in this thread already, but they fought for a $4 million tax break from the Village of Arlington Heights and the local school districts. Their property tax burden was originally $10 million for Arlington Park, but they fought to get it dropped to $6 million. All the while they are delaying where they are building their new stadium in which the cost increases $100-200 million a year. Penny wise, pound foolish.

  8. Thomas Brown would not say what his part was in that failed last 30 seconds on Thursday. He said he was past that and didn’t want to talk about it.
  9. “He will have the final say,” Warren said. Poles made the decision to fire coach Matt Eberflus on Friday, one day after he held on to a timeout as the clock ran out on his offense against the Lions. “This will be the most coveted job in the National Football League this year,” Warren said.
  10. Depending on how the rest of the season goes, I wouldn’t mind keeping Thomas Brown as OC, but I’m just not sure he’s ready to step in as head coach yet. Get Vrabel and convince him to keep Thomas Brown as offensive coordinator. Or you really hope that the Browns get rid of Kevin Stefanski because he would be the person I would really like to see as head coach.
  11. Thomas Brown might be team president by the end of the season if his ascent continues
  12. I agree. I know he wants to be out there if it wasn’t for the concussions, but when he’s missed much time as he has and hurt the team year after year, you really shouldn’t be saying anything.
  13. They can’t even fire a coach correctly
  14. Sorta. But Caleb just be smart and get out of bounds. Don’t try to fake out the defender.
  15. He’s had some wins and losses and I would rate him as a slightly above average GM. Good: Caleb, DJ, the Carolina trade in general, Wright, B. Jones, Sweat. Bad: Eberflus, neglecting the center, Davis, V. Jones, Claypool. Poles has assembled what should be a .500 roster this season that should be a playoff team next year. But I can’t blame anyone for wanting him gone too.
  16. “Ownership really hates all this losing.” No, they don’t. They waited a day before firing Waldron though and wasn’t he the first coordinator ever fired by the Bears midseason?.
  17. “Whatever that situation is, that’s going to be coach’s call,” Williams said. “Maybe in the later years of my career, but right now, I get the call, I’m trying to lead the guys to win and I’m trying to get everybody lined up. And from there, I’m trying to make a play for the Chicago Bears.” Is Caleb talking about not wanting to take a TO or the play call? He audibled out of the call, so clearly he’s given reign to do that. But if you are going to audible out, you have to have a quick play ready to go.
  18. And that’s one reason why I wouldn’t mind seeing him fired. I always wanted Harbaugh, but the McCaskeys didn’t.
  19. Poles has plenty of blame and I wouldn’t mind seeing him go too, but we can still admit that he wasn’t given full reign of football ops from the beginning. He was given 3 coaches to choose from. Has every Bears GM not wanted to fire their coach midseason or does that come from ownership? It’s clearly ownership. They meddle.
