  1. Tough day for him yesterday. Wasn't he robbed on three straight AB's?
  2. Man the end of the first half killed the Bulls. Miami went on a 6 point swing. Shaq just is too big and fat. Tyson got all that money and can't score and can't defend Shaq. The Bulls never quit but Miami has too much talent. I wonder hwo the Bulls would look if they would have gotten Wade instead of Miami.
  3. Hey if we have to have two Cubs on the DL, might as well be them. I mean, it could be worse, it could be Prior, Wood, Miller or Lee on there. Oh wait... :( If any two guys were going to be injured, I would care the least of the two did, especially if they hit each other. Then again Jones is playing a little better. Did he really injure his hand high-fiving guys in the dugout after his homer?
  4. Neifi had some terrible AB's. I think someone shoudl tell Neifi that when the ball is in the cather's mitt it is no use swinging. About as bad as the Marlin who threw the bat at the ball when the ball was 5 feet outside. Z broke the bat over his knee though. Good thing the bat broke and not Z's leg. All the Cubs needed was another injury.
  5. He wasn't even close to 92-93 with his two-seamer. He wasn throwing anywhere from the mid 80's to 90. Topped 90 with his four-seamer a few times. Didn't throw his slider much at all. But I would rather have Z go 6 innings and give up one run throwing at that speed that throwing 95 and getting taged. With this start is it about impossible for Z to win Cy Young? You gotta have wins to ge the Cy Young right? It is April 19th and you are trying to give out the Cy Young already??? You do know the season goes all the way through September right? Who cares about the stupid award anyways, I want to worry about seeing the White Flag. A good or bad year for Z is most likely a good or bad year for the Cubs
  6. That could be said for a lot of hitters last night, including Lee, Barrett, Walker, and Murton. Nobody looked good at all. Jones did. But he was taken out.

  8. Seemed a little low on the gun last night. Barely topped 90 except for a few 4 seamers. But he only allowed 1 run and I didn't think he had his good stuff. Any reason for the low velocity?
  9. Lowe had a great sinker working last night. Mabry looked dumbfounded. That was not a good at bat. But aren't the Cub pinch hitters leading the league or close to it?
  10. Is the radar gun off or is Z not throwing his usual. He has only been above 90 on a couple of 4 seamers?
  11. His sinker and change were wicked last night. It was really unfair. But he got away with pitching in LA. The ball doesn't carry there. Pujols would have had a couple homers if the wind wasn't blowing in a week or so ago. I think Maddux is pitching well, but he has pitched under good conditions.
  12. What about Juan Maracial taking the bat to the pitcher and about killed him. The White Sox/Tigers fight (forgot the date, but somewhat recent) was about the best of all time. Is there video of htat one?
  13. I think he was going to charge the mound, but didn't want to chase the guy all over the field.
  14. What got Zuleta so ticked? Was there a history? The ball barely nipped him.
  15. Has ESPN done their daily mock draft on the Bears yet?
  16. What kind of year would Maddux need to have to get an offer from the Cubs again? 1 year, 5 million?
  17. OK so he will have no more hits. THat ISN'T it inconceivable is it?
  18. Still out 4-6 weeks. Jones is on pace to have two hits by then.
  19. You can't manage perfect. Gonzo's error was the biggest blow by far. Putting in Veres in Game 7 was an abomination, but not as big of a goof as Gonzo's error. I thought most of the responsibility hung on the players.
  20. The Cubs finally got to Santos. He has a 2.50 ERA lifetime vs the Cubs. Nice game.
  21. Well he induced a taylor made double play if it hadn't been for Gonzo. The pen was average. A tired Prior was better than the pen.
  22. Grantd Wood throws too many pitches, but it doesn't hurt that he has the mechanics of a little leaguer also.
  23. The Cubs did not lose to the Marlins because of Dusty's managing. The Bartman play, Gonzalez's error, and the lack of a pen were much bigger factors. Dusty is not a good in game manager which is part of the reason they haven't been back, but I won't put 2003 on him.
  24. The Cubs hadn't been to a World Series in a while. I betcha this GM would have done the same thing as Dusty in 2003. The problem is that Wood has bad mechanics and he hasn't been willing to change them. I am beginning to think Prior is a wuss because he hadn't known what pain was before he got to the big leagues. All major league pitchers fight through pain and Prior is going to have to do it if he wants to start 30-35 games regularly. He actually said that - that he understood why dusty did it and that he nearly went to the WS by doing it. Just making the point that they may be paying the price for it now. Well then you can't blame Dusty for overusing them in 2003.
