  1. The #1 gets the easier of the opponents. Just like the NCAA tournament. The better you are, the easier the opponent you earn.
  2. Because he will be a free agent and you could totally lose him. If Denver isn't going anywhere, trade Melo so you don't have to pay his salary for 2010 and get something in return. What is Denver going to do with Nene if they get Noah? Oh and don't let Joakim stand in the way of this thing going down. I love the guy, but if they want him don't even give Noah a second thought.
  3. He isn't as good, but the money that LeBron and Kobe gets is not crazy high.
  4. Wow Castro! http://www.cnn.com/2010/WORLD/americas/09/08/cuba.castro.communism/index.html?hpt=T2
  5. Anyone watching Soderling and Federer? Soderling had a chance to go up a break when Federer's forehand landed on the line and was called out. Soderling didn't give it much of a return and Federer challenged the call. He won it and the chair umpire decided that Soderling had a good enough shot at returning it and awarded the point to Federer because Soderling's return was hit out. Federer went on to win the game. Unfortunate for Soderling but this is going to be a good match. Pretty windy also.
  6. The Bears are a better team than last year. But the league is getting better as a whole which could result in a better Bears team actually losing more games than 08 and 09. The Bears haven't had good draft picks the last two years and that can really slow down a team in a league where you get better through the draft and not through trades. Plus the Bears have a tough division and have to play the NFC East.
  7. I'd put him in right away. Manning is a nickel at best. Lovie keeps him in there because he is his little pet and wanted him on the team in the first place. Manning is just bad. Danieal Manning has played better safety this preseason than Chris Harris. Granted, Harris is playing out of position at FS. But he hasn't tackled or covered well this preseason. Manning hasn't been anything special in coverage, but he has been a solid tackler. Maybe so, but I am pretty confident Harris is a better football player and will demonstrate that week 1. That is unless Harris' ability has really fallen off the last few years. I haven't seen him enough in preseason to make that call (he was terrible against AZ). If Harris is playing out of position, put him back in his regular place and get Wright in at his regular spot.
  8. It was absolutely stupid on his part. He is going to miss the South Carolina game and the Arkansas game barring the appeal. The suspension seems a little excessive. I don't know what it is with Georgia players this year, but there have been 8 or so arrests and now this one, the biggest one of all. If this causes him to lose just one spot int he draft (Mel had him 4th), he could lose millions. There were rumors that he took out an insurance policy ($50,000/$1,000,000) and that his dad lost his job and was unable to pay the premium, but I'm not sure if he sold the jersey to cover it.

  10. Any chance Major Wright could be a SS? Wright and Harris seem to be the best tandem or safeties talent wise. I think he could be. He loves to hit in run support. I think Harris at SS and Major at FS makes the most sense at the moment if Wright can get up to speed coming off the injury. Also on this http://www.chicagobears.com/team/depthchart.asp it says Kellen Davis is the backup TE while Manumaleuna and Dez are the fullbacks. That's kinda weird isn't it? Is there any chance Harris and Wright are the starting safeties vs the Lions week 1?

  12. Is the depth chart out yet?
  13. Is he worth 3 games? Who knows, but Revis is THAT good. You obviously need a great team to win. While Revis didn't let a receiver he was covering get 100 yards last year (and he played against the best of the best), Manning picked apart the rest of the Jets' secondary en route to winning the AFC Championship even though Revis' man was shut down.
  14. The Tribune said the Bears "may have lost their quarterback of the future." What? Anyway, Cincinnati picked up LeFevour. But seriously, what is Dan Pompei thinking?
  15. I think he is trying to act like Belichick without Belichick's mind for football and without the foundation of players he has. Belichick thinks that his system will make pretty much anyone good (but it didn't work like he wanted it to last year). But McDaniels isn't smart enough to do that. You just can't get rid of Cutler (who is much better than Cassel) and Marshall and think that your way of running a football team is going make up for those guys. That's in addition to the recent moves.
  16. I saw $3M, did I miss something?
  17. Jerry prided himself in picking up decent players late in the draft. We all know he has been terrible in the early rounds, and it seems that he isn't good in the late rounds either.
  18. That's a good move and it will work out for everyone. Kovalchuck's contract did circumvent the salary cap, but the rules allowed it at the time.
  19. He is turning into A.J. Pierzinski. Before the fight he did a bunch of little things that made people hate him. Now people are out to get him excessively (the second time the Marlins threw at him).
  20. Agreed. High school baseball or amateur baseball fine. But when you are in the major leagues, you should be able to steal all you want down 10 in the 4th inning.
  21. Correction: Luongo and Marian's contracts wouldn't be voided, but their cap hits and overall salary would be modified.

  23. The NY Post is reporting that the NHL could grandfather in Luongo and Hoss's contracts under the new rules and void them. What a stupid idea! If you let the contracts slide at first, how can you go back on that? What a screwed up league.
  24. What has gotten into Morgan lately? He has acquired quite a rap sheet the last few days. Throwing behind Morgan after lready plunking him in response to Morgan stealing a few bags in a blowout game (Morgan was on the losing team) was a little over the top, but it did feel good to see Morgan get absolutely closelined. Chapman threw 104 tonight. Wow. I can't think of a faster pitch I've seen.
  25. When does the College Game Day Live schedule come out?
