  1. I have been vindicated. My hero - Dan Bernstein - the king of English and the queen of hermeneutics said that Cutler took a veiled shot at McCown in his presser last week. I can die happy.
  2. No for week 17 they make the call after week 16 games are completed. Oh OK. Anyone think having the Bears on two weeks in a row is something NBC would shy away from? Oh you mean the third big- *grabs earpiece* "oh what's that? There still isn't an NFL team in Los Angelos? "* *nodds* "Chicago is the second biggest market in the NFL?"* *nodds* "and the Biggest market shares two teams, whilst Chicago, and most the rest of corn in the USA shares one?"* *nodds* "And the NFL only cares about playoff matches anyway?" "Uh huh" *nodds head* "And if it plays out like Wilson says the oldest rivalry in the NFL will have playoff implications?" *looks directly at Wilson A2000* "No, Wilson A2000, I don't think this will be a problem for NBC if it plays out as you say" Funny, but the Cowboys are a bigger draw. Either way either the Bears or the Eagles will be on twice in a row.
  3. Any chance he gets in the HOF?

  5. They had no reason to play Rodgers in week 17 last year, but if they are out of it you're probably right
  6. I think they have to make their decision before next week's game which makes the decision a little more difficult. Problem with the Cowboys is that you could get a stinker where is 35-10 at halftime.
  7. Freel had Stage 2 CTE. 10 concussions, wow. Is this the first anyone has heard of a baseball player having CTE? http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/10142581/cte-present-ryan-freel-killed-self-report-says
  8. Bears-Packers on SNF week 17 or Cowboys-Eagles? Both have big playoff implications.
  9. Jamal Charles is second all time in career rushing average. He's really good.
  10. A little confused. Similar play as last week - he was wide open for the TD.
  11. Screw Rodgers. You go with the hot handed backup QB week 17 who torches Dallas. Rodgers is probably rusty and still injured. Throwing INTs in practice I hear.
  12. Could Ed Reed be worse than our safeties?
  13. You just described every single QB in the NFL. Not McCown. He made one mistake this year!
  14. Do you want to end your career starting for the Jags or be a member of a playoff team? Josh strikes me as a guy who might want a Super Bowl instead.
  15. Cade McNown is not a better option than Jay Cutler, no matter how many meatballs say differently. OK, like I said, I get that. Going forward, how is Jay definitely your guy though? he is a good quarterback. one does not simply let a good quarterback go without his imminent replacement in hand. mccown is not an acceptable replacement. Plus, CBS ran a story this morning that the Bears will have no exclusive window to negotiate with McCown. They can only offer him another league-minimum deal before the start of free agency. I want McCown to be back because Jay gets hurt a lot. Backups do matter in the sense that you need one to hold the fort down if a guy like Cutler is out for a few weeks. Josh did that and more. As long as no one gives McCown $5-10 million to start, I'd imagine he'd be back here for $2 million. Campbell did get $3 million I think, but I don't think McCown does.
  16. I love him because he's extremely talented, and while I'll admit he's not the greatest QB ever and has his issues, at his best he's among the best QBs in the league, a tough SOB and makes throws that I used to have wet dreams about in grade school. But I think really won me over was his personality (which admittedly has little to do with whether he should be the QB). Part because the media has decided that Jay Cutler is an aloof jackass who doesn't care about anything, and hey that's our dude, stfu. Also because his appearances on the Jay Cutler radio show prove that he's actually a pretty cool dude. i've said this before about him, he is the Neo to Aaron Rodgers' Agent Smith. Rodgers is just about the best QB to play the game, but he is bound by the rules of the matrix whereas Jay Cutler can write the code when it all comes together for him. That's so stupid I could have said it. Rodgers has owned Cutler.
  17. Weren't they the 17th rated pass defense? No Haden for the 4th quarter?
  18. Cade McNown is not a better option than Jay Cutler, no matter how many meatballs say differently. OK, like I said, I get that. Going forward, how is Jay definitely your guy though? Because he's playing well in this system and will continue to with a better line, a stud Jeffery, and weapons all around. QBs like him don't grow on trees. Who else are the Bears going to get? If he wants $19 million he won't be the Bears's guy, but he won't get that until after the Bears franchise him and he hits the open market for Tennessee.
  19. People like him because he has talent, more than any Bears QB in history. The Bears have been waiting for someone like him for years. I will say that at age 30, people do keep waiting for him to reach his potential. You can say that Flacco finally reached his potential last year and he is a late bloomer so to speak, and maybe with the right staff and offensive weapons Cutler can do the same. I'm sure I will be ridiculed for saying this, but it seems that when Cutler makes interceptions, it isn't like the defender made an incredible play and you just tip your hat to him. Maybe it is the meatball in me, but so many of them seem unavoidable. The meatballs like me have some stupid reasons for hating Cutler and I think people defend him because his haters are just way off most of the time. So the backlash gets reversed into defending him more than he should be. Let's face it, he was a jerk for forcing a trade in Denver, hates the media, and is kind of a prick. You get a ton of hate for doing that.
  20. Kyle Long on Twitter disagrees with Jay Glazer that there were Bears who might have wanted McCown back
  21. I don't think you try stuff out in practice this late in the season. Shaking off rust, yes. But if throwing interceptions is considered shaking off rust, Jay has been shaking off rust his whole tenure in Chicago.
  22. players can be meatballs, too. Jay played like Achilles today. Looking over his game logs, Jay hasn't had a stretch of 4-5 games where he has really played well if I remember correctly in Chicago. He needs to get hot and stay hot. He can make himself some money and get the rest of the team behind him. A playoff run would be fantastic. I give Trestman credit for staying behind Cutler verbally. Obviously he saw practice this week and is no idiot. Sounds like maybe he did have some questions in the back of his mind. Either way the interceptions need to stop. You won't beat the good teams, especially in the playoffs should they get there doing what he did today. I understand he had a great rating, but good teams will make the Bears pay.
  23. Wasn't 100%...that he could start?
  24. How about assembling an offense? Been better at challenges.
  25. Cutler is going to need McCown numbers to win next week. Going to need to drop 50. Just might happen. Philly gave up 41 to the Vikings with no AP.
