Rats, I wanted Novak to get the calendar-year grand slam. He looked unstoppable before today. Similar to how I wanted Tom Watson to win the Open Championship in 2009 at age 59. Had to just par the 18th, but he bogeyed it and lost in a playoff to Stewart Cink.

The German coach from the modern pentathlon event was disqualified because she punched a horse. The horse was presumably acting up because it didn't know its rider. The rider and horse get paired together 20 minutes before the event for fairness reasons. I don't get that. You can't bring your own horse like other horse events allow for whatever reason.

Nadal vs Federer for #2 is a good debate. Federer is the more complete player, but Nadal is up 24-16 (10-4 in grand slams) in the head-to-head rivalry.

Novak wins Wimbledon for his 20th major (3rd Wimbledon victory in a row) and is now tied with Nadal and Federer at 20 grand slams. Only two people have ever held all four men’s major singles titles in a calendar year and none since Rod Laver in 1969. He’s going to be the goat in September.

I've thought about this since reading his GQ article last week. Scottie in the past has been pretty guarded in what he says, but has been known to let something slip every once in awhile that is along the lines of the things he's saying. Doubling down on calling Phil a racist is pretty bizarre, but the rest of the stuff he's said does not surprise me, it only surprises me that his filter is off. Then I remembered that Scottie's son died literally 2 months ago. I wonder if that has anything to do with it...the man has to be grieving, and people do unusual things while they grieve. Scottie's just trying to save face. "The Last Dance" did him no favors.

Luckily, Hoyer won't be forced to make a dumb decision and try to win with this team. By the trading deadline, no one will be clamoring for three starters and the two outfielders needed to make this team a real contender.
