  1. The scary thing is I think they could still drop to 4th if the other teams don't win a game.
  2. When we were looking into hiring Eberflus, I seem to remember reading that even though his Indy defense finished top 10 or whatever it was, they were dead last in 4th quarter defense. I don't know if that is due to playing a soft zone in the 4th trying to burn clock, just randomness, or something to do with his style of defense in general (I wasn't a fan of the Eberflus hire partly bc of the cover-2). Maybe the farther a team gets into the game, they get more used to how to attack the zone?
  3. I get what you are saying, but I had no problem rooting for the packers (against the panthers) in that game. The packers aren't very good. Even if they sneak into the playoffs, they won't go anywhere. If they blew this game and it lead to the bears not having the top pick it would be right up there with some of the devastating losses we have had to them. I didn't get a great angle on the Doubs catch, but it seemed me may have had control for the catch. They reviewed it, right? As far as comparing it to Calvin Johnson, the NFL definitely loosened their requirements for catches a few years ago. Everyone was complaining when they would call plays like Johnson's or Dez Bryant's an incompletion. They took away the "surviving the ground" component I believe.
  4. Panthers were one second from stopping the clock for a game tying field goal. *Starlin gif*
  5. I agree with this. I want to go QB with the Panthers pick because I want to shoot for having one of the best QB's in the league and not just pretty good, but if poles traded it and went with Fields again, I still like him so much and still hold out some hope for him that I wouldn't be devastated and will talk myself into having multiple firsts for the next few years. The one thing I never want to do again is go for the boring average veteran (like signing Dalton, or the saints getting Carr). I would just be fully out on that season before it started. I never want to be in the "we have a good defense, we just need an average veteran" situation. I'm done with that. I want a great offense, so I want to take a shot on Williams or Maye. But at least Fields still sometimes makes you think he might be able to do it (no matter how much evidence to the contrary). And he is like-able and fun enough where I still root for him to do it. When Trubisky left the Bears, I didn't care about him at all. With Fields, I will hope he does well wherever he goes.
  6. That is what it does for me now... when I click on the topic, it takes me to the most recent post that I haven't read, not the most recent post overall. I'm not sure if I have some setting clicked for that. Unless you mean that when you are looking at the page of "active topics," you can see the latest post right under the topic name. If that is the problem, it is because you have "expanded" selected instead of "condensed," where it only shows the topic title and not the most recent post along with it. I see that the link to Wrigley's stream does have "expanded" selected. Just click condensed instead.
  7. I know Fields would still be under contract, but I would imagine he would request a trade if we pick either Maye or Williams. I think he has had enough success that he would be able to do that, as opposed to someone like Wilson for the Jets when they added Rodgers. I just don't see us keeping him if we do pick a QB.
  8. I have zero questions about what I would do with the coaching staff.
  9. Have you seen previous discussions where WrigleyField22 posted his stream settings. It basically makes the little newspaper icon near the top right of the page into Active Topics (I also just set that as my bookmark to the site so it takes me right there when I click that bookmark). I think if you click the link below, it will take you to his stream/settings and you can click "add to my streams," and set it as your default stream. Or you can basically do it yourself when you click that newspaper link. I think the important stream options to have set are Content Types: Topics and then Sorting: Newest First. I have my time period as the previous 14 days, he has 7 days, but that can be whatever. I was really disappointed when the "active topics" link was taken away when the site switched, but then I saw him post about this and once I set it, it was back to normal for me. https://northsidebaseball.com/discover/14/
  10. I'm pretty sure I heard a podcast say that this was the highest percentage of guaranteed money for an edge (74%) and that the previous record was 71% for TJ Watt.
  11. I do agree with stuff like this. I hate when teams have an awesome logo/color scheme and do something terrible instead. Like when the Brewers changed from one of the best logos (and jerseys/color scheme) in sports to the boring stuff they wore from the late 90's until recently. The ducks current jerseys/colors are some of the most boring in all of sports. It honestly makes me root against them even though I wouldn't normally care. Their old logo is fun.
  12. Yeah, I was going to say something like what if you took the 4 out of 6 years where Edmonton ended up with the number 1 pick and just changed the result in three of those years so that the team that got the second or third pick switched places with Edmonton. No one would look back and notice anything that seemed fishy, but the odds of that result would probably be very close to the 0.3% he is saying it was for Edmonton to get the 1st pick that many times (if not lower since Edmonton had the best, second best or 3rd best odds for all four of those 1st picks. In fact one of the years, they didn't even win the draft lottery, but the team that did (New Jersey) was too far away and could only move up from 8th to 4th I believe, so it defaulted to the team with the worst record Edmonton). It's sort of like flipping a coin ten times and getting 10 heads in a row vs HTTHTHHTHT in that order. The two have exactly the same odds of occurring, yet, the former feels a lot less likely.
  13. I think my eyes rolled all the way around and back when coming back from halftime, the sideline reporter talked about her discussion with Eberflus, saying that he said "Fields has been incredibly efficient, etc, but we are going to be relying on our defense in the 2nd half."
  14. I'm not even kidding when I say I would rather have the other team in a 3rd and short because they might actually try to run it, whereas a third and long pass is a guaranteed conversion.
  15. Literally what I was just thinking. Like "sorry we started a rumor that you were a child predator, good luck with the chemo.". Is that rumor only because of the rumor that the FBI raided his house/halas hall (which the bears said didn't happen)?
  16. I am, honestly. Coming into the year I thought, "its going to be nice to be able to root for a high pick but not have to root for bears losses." But by about the 2nd quarter of the packers game, I was already there. I don't really have faith that Eberflus gets fired unless we have a really awful season in terms of wins/losses--like worst record bad again. And at this point, I just want to try to get the elite QB. I have never wanted a Bears QB to succeed as much as I wanted Fields to succeed, but I just don't think its going to happen at this point. I don't get him being so hesitant to throw to receivers when they are open. Also, not that I think Bagent is the answer, but in that preseason game against the colts, it seemed like he did things that Fields never does. Like, "oh, you can throw it in to a tight space when then receiver has the position/leverage." "Oh thats what Getsy/Janocko meant when they talked about using the drop back steps to determine the timing of the route and how the ball should be coming out when you finish your drop back" (some of those throws were literally coming out on his last foot plant). I want Williams and I want to draft offense high (left tackle or receiver if the other pick was high enough to get Marvin Harrison or the Penn State tackle) until we know the offense is legit.
  17. This was an interview with former NHL player Darcy Hordichuk on a Coyotes Podcast. At the end, he talks about Bedard (about 46 minutes in if the time stamp doesn't work).
  18. Well, this will be somewhat interesting. I never liked the Eberflus hire, but it will be interesting to see if the defense performs better with him calling plays. A main part of that was it seemed annoying to be going back to the Cover-2 and that his main coaching strengths seemed to be focused on effort in a league where strategy is more important than in any other sport. Part of that was the coaching staff he assembled. Williams was pretty bad as a DC in his one stint before the bears. It seemed like last year when we did make positive adjustments on defense, it only came after halftime where maybe Eberflus provided input.
  19. Man, I never would have believed at the beginning of the season that I would be happy with Gomes up in a big spot.
  20. I was just thinking this today. Its weird, I guess the bulls have technically been the most successful the past two years and yet they aren't fun at all and have no future. The bears won 3 games last year and I was more into that season than almost any other season of theirs that I have been watching. It was fun watching fields and hoping he can become a star. It felt like watching the cubs in 2014 and then 2015, thinking about what they might become as the young players were coming up. Like you said, Bedard is the one guy that will make me excited enough to watch the blackhawks next year even if they aren't actually winning games.
