  1. Since people got excited about prospects that didn't work out in the past, I really think we should decide as an organization to not go after good prospects anymore.

  3. I...don't agree. You think we would have swept you? Since you know that you can't rebound at all and we would have crushed you on the boards? Ok, I'm as rabid a Bulls fan as any, but doesn't it seem to be a poor time to talk trash to the fans of a team that is one game away from the Finals against the presumed best team in the conference? Yeah, but with sports, sometimes its just about how teams match up with each other. I definitely would have said Boston was one of the top 3 teams in the East before the playoffs started, and yet the Bulls fan in me was happy the bulls drew them as the 2nd round matchup (assuming both got there). However, the Heat hater in me was disappointed that the Heat were going to avoid them in the 2nd round. I wasn't really sure which one I wanted more.
  4. There's that championship spirit! For some reason, that reminded me of Wade's quote in game 4 of the finals last year when he missed a big free throw at the end. "I can't shoot the free throw any better than that. The basketball gods didn't want it to go in." I don't expect him to make every FT or anything, but he probably could have shot it better if he would have just made it.
  5. Maybe... but honestly I think the Bulls just match up well with the Celtics. I would be much more worried going into a series with the Heat than the Celtics (even after watching this series). I mean part of the reason the Celtics are doing so well is that the Heat have no big men to stop KG (and he doesn't have to guard them on defense). The bulls have a big strength with their bigs. I think really athletic teams can give the bulls trouble and the celtics certainly aren't that. In fact, when Rose went down, I was almost hoping the bulls lost to the sixers because I figured the Celtics were the only team with a chance against the Heat at that point and I even thought a rose-less bulls team could give the celtics fits. Maybe that would be wrong in hindsight as the celtics have played much better than I thought they could this series, but I just think they match up well with them. I think if the bulls made it to the 2nd round, there would have been a lot of close, ugly games.
  6. but that's the thing. it IS a foul for him. Need a gif image of him slapping the ground at the ref.
  7. MLB draftees are so much the biggest dorks. Then you got bud who doesn't think today is all that special to get some nice threads on that fit him. King dork. Cubs have CF of their future!. Where have I had that before and no this is not a dig on the curre t draftee. When Selig first came up to the podium, I thought I was watching a fantasy draft where the guys take it way too far.
  8. Just mean, in Nash's case, he loves it where he is, and is going to have to really buy into us being able to win a championship, for him to leave where he's at, and take less money as well, to do it. Although he loves Phoenix, it is pretty much assumed here that he is gone. The talk on the Phoenix sports radio isn't even considering him coming back. It is all about how the Suns move forward. A few weeks ago, I heard an interview with him where he talked well of the Heat and talked about how he wouldn't mind playing there. For him to talk like he did made me think it was highly likely he ends up there.
  9. I can kindof see what Kyle is saying. I am normally all for replay. In fact, I want K-zone to call balls and strikes. However, the NFL's "review every scoring play" annoyed me this year. However, as other people mentioned, it was more for stupid rules or the fact that they will still get things wrong after the replay. Sometimes, a TD would be overturned for a rule that no one even really knew about, or a play gets overturned that would have never even been reviewed if it was up to the opposing coach like most plays. For example, it would be sort of annoying when a great run for a touchdown is called back to the 1 inch line because as the player lept to the endzone, his knee may have grazed the grass as he was falling in. Once again, it probably wouldn't have even been reviewed by the opposing coach. I also remember a 40 yard touchdown pass from Rivers to a receiver who had complete control, came down in bounds the entire time and it was overturned because the defender who barely was touching the ball as well was standing out of bounds. Maybe I was just a bitter fantasy owner who had about a TD a week overturned on these types of calls. But I think this is different. I think people will still get the excitement and won't really even think about the overturn until a replay is shown. They aren't stopping the game after every play to think about it. They will still go on as normal, but when someone in the booth sees something wrong--which is when we would all see it on replay as well, they will stop it. I don't think it will ruin any excitement. If anything, instead of just yelling at the screen, fans of the team getting screwed can yell at the screen with the hope of the call being overturned. It isn't like there are some weird rules in baseball. Either the ball was caught or it wasn't. It was either a home run or it wasn't. And if I was a fan of the team that got the benefit of the call, I would have no problem if it was overturned. ETA: Also, how often do plays really need to be reviewed in baseball? Most plays are pretty clear. It isn't like football where plays that could be reviewed happen all the time.
  10. I agree that Lebron could land one if he really wanted, but what is he doing with his arm if he isn't trying to get him a bit with the elbow. I can see reacting to it when it happens a couple of times. I also know the pacers are annoying in their own right, but I at least respect their tough guy act more than the Heat. It is amazing how flagrant fouls are viewed now compared to the 80's and 90's. I was watching Game 7 of the Knicks-Bulls series from 1992 (I think it was that game) a couple of weeks ago on youtube. First of all, it was AMAZING how loud the crowd used to be... but I remember seeing a drive from pippen where he was clobbered. Nothing was called. On a spectrum of No Foul to Flagrant, it was clearly closer to the flagrant end and yet nothing was even called.
  11. While I agree that Granger should probably avoid getting in their faces (basically because it probably woke Wade up a bit and he has been awesome since it happened), I don't really blame him. He is doing it after Lebron tries to connect with a 2nd or 3rd elbow of the series. I like how before yesterday's game, all the talk was from Wade and Lebron saying how Granger shouldn't try to get in their face. Yes, Granger should know the rules when you play the Heat. They get to slam through players going in for a layup like they are playing linebacker. They get to try to elbow you in the face. They get to retaliate violently when you commit a hard foul. And you just have to take it. You can't stand up for yourself. Oh, but when someone on the Pacers makes a choking gesture that doesn't affect anyone on the Heat at all, they get to send Juwan Howard over to your locker room to get in your face. Oh, and Wade gets to get in the face of his own coach when his coach tells him something he doesn't want to hear. And if you foul one of their players fairly hard, they get to complain about it and send goons in to really hit your players. Then after the game, they make the conversation about how bad the first foul was, when in actuality, it wasn't that bad. I think Wade made a comment about how Hansbrough went for his head and not the ball... no, he actually did hit the ball for most of the act. He just followed through and hit your head. Flagrant, fine. It was given a flagrant. The Heat Players were the ones that didn't go for the ball. I am so tired of the Heat. I have never hated a sports team as much as that team. I like how out of the 4 really hard fouls (wade on collison, Tyler H on Wade, Haslems and Pittmans) the pacers players either immediately got up and walked away or didn't go down at all. But when Wade got hit in the face, he first lands on his feet, but then drops to the round and lays there to sell it.
  12. Why wasn't he ejected immediately following this either? http://www.terezowens.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/Wade.gif This happened after James Jones was ejected for about the same thing. At least Jones could argue he was trying to block out or something. Wade had no excuse. I can't stand Wade more than any player in the league. Also, was it last night or game 1 when Wade drove to the hoop, dropkicked the defender in the stomach and got to shoot free throws for it.
  13. Yeah I am really excited to see what he does this year. Speaking of him being slim. I caught a clip from Chicago Tribune Live where they were talking about Jeffery. The guests were talking about how he had been looking good so far. Kaplan's one addition to the conversation was something along the lines of "Yeah but he showed up fat and out of shape at the combine. You would think on the most important job interview of your life you could at least get in shape." Don't let the fact that he did show up in shape get in the way of a good rant against players you apparently don't like there Kaplan.
  14. I would hope that is the case as well. Hopefully they are thinking that the difference between Williams and the guard who replaces him is not as great as the difference between Williams and Webb at left tackle.
  15. Are you saying that he won't play every down because he will be the backup to Webb? I was hoping that by moving him to tackle, Webb would not be starting anymore.
  16. Kobe is a great player. And I know that the point of posting Jordan's games wasn't to somehow argue that he is better than Jordan, but I remember looking up some stats last year that covered their careers when someone (not on this board) was trying to argue that Kobe was better than Jordan. I was really surprised at the difference in PER and Win Shares. Not sure how good of stats those are, but I remember seeing that Jordan's career averages (both regular season and post-season) were higher than Kobe's single best numbers. And Jordan had something like 10 years where his win shares were higher than Kobe's best year. He also had something like 10 playoff years where his PER was higher than Kobe's single best year. I could be wrong on those numbers now, but I was pretty shocked that it wasn't closer. And that includes the two years in his prime that he was gone (or at least gone for most of the second year).
  17. Agreed. Wasn't he rumored to have been offered the Cubs job--and although he was interested, ESPN wouldn't let him out or something? I remember really hoping for him at the time. EDIT--maybe I am thinking of Shulman.
  18. Gus Johnson is the same way as Sutton, but he's still one of the best broadcasters in the game. Overemphasis is one of the least significant weaknesses an announcer can have, I think. There's really nothing about Brenneman calling a game that I like, it's incredibly grating listening to him. I don't really mind Vasgersian. Gus legitimately seems excited for big plays. Sutton sounds like the other team wronged him somehow and he just got back at them.
  19. Really? I can think of a bunch of PBP guys just off the top of my head who I like less - Buck, Brennaman, Stockton, Ensberg, pretty much every announcer employed by Fox. Sutton's really not bad, though I've not heard him much. Stockton is pretty terrible... I will grant you that. He is terrible in a "really bad at the job" kind of a way. He constantly says incorrect things. I guess I just hate that Sutton seems so smug and annoying.
  20. I kind of like the Sutton/Brenly duo. I don't like Sutton in any duo. I think he is probably the worst PBP guy that I have heard. Although Brennaman is pretty awful to listen to as well. no one is worse than brennaman. in addition to being horrible at pbp, he's a colossal [expletive]. I guess I agree with that (although right after I posted I immediately remembered Hawk). I think it is because I live in Arizona so I get Diamondbacks games and have to hear him a lot, but I just can't stand his announcing. He gets way too excited, but not in any kind of likeable way. He also holds grudges and seems to hate the cubs. (I think everything I just wrote also applies/applied to Brennaman) I actually wonder what he thought this year when the Brewers signed Ramirez. He hates Ramirez. I remember a Cubs/Diamondbacks game from a couple of years ago where he just would not stop ranting with a dislike of ramirez. Grace even joked about it because it was getting out of hand. Apparently, years earlier he had hit a home run off of Ben Sheets and didn't run hard enough out of the box. In one at-bat, Ramirez struck out and Sutton yelled "SIT DOWWWWWWN!" It was awkward and unprofessional.
  21. I had no clue Sutton or Brenly even did national FOX games. I'm convinced they just get lazy and throw a paycheck at the closest PBP and color guy that at one point worked for FOX. that's exactly what they do. Started last year. Better than Buck/Brennaman. Are they still even doing games? I kind of like the Sutton/Brenly duo. I don't like Sutton in any duo. I think he is probably the worst PBP guy that I have heard. Although Brennaman is pretty awful to listen to as well.
  22. Overrated how? The guy has been an amazing player. All you keep going on and on about is how he can't make last minute shots. If you're saying "overrated" in terms of how people would stack him up next to Jordan, fine...but if you're saying he's overrated in the sense that he's NOT a great player, well, that's just ridiculous. He's about the 16th best player ever according to per. I doubt most people have him that low. Thus why I feel he's overrated. And besides the Jordan comparisons, we have to hear people talk about him being the greatest Laker ever, when you could make the case for Kareem or Magic as one of, if not the, greatest player ever. (Also, Kobe wasn't even the best laker during his career. Shaq was clearly the best player in the league for those dynasty years.) Also, the post-Shaq but pre-gasol lakers struggled to even make the playoffs--in a league where making the playoffs isn't very difficult. Lebron had some bad supporting casts and still always ended up with one of the best records in the East. I do think Kobe is a great player, but I also think he gets over-rated in terms of basketball history.
  23. http://espn.go.com/blog/chicago/bears/post/_/id/4676069/tice-on-carimi-right-on-track?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter Is Carimi someone we need to worry about? When he first was hurt, it was supposed to be a few weeks. Then it was the season. Now he is on track for June? I guess his last surgery was to strengthen some ligaments, but I figured he would be back by now. I had no idea he was still out.

  25. This would be great and all, but didn't we get stories like this last year? Or maybe it was the year before.
