Also, in response to the Detroit game not being a good one for cutler: The offense looked a lot better before cutler took the hit from Suh. Afterwards, it didn't look like he could throw as well and he even admitted that they weren't really running the offense like normal during the second half. They basically were just running out the clock. Yes, the defense should get a ton of credit for allowing them to do that, but Cutler looked good early if I remember correctly.

Not that anyone is arguing that he should win it, but I see the Cutler for MVP talk as just a more realistic version of last years "Peyton should win the MVP because the colts are 0-13 without him" talk. Talking heads brought it up last year but they were never going to actually vote for a player that didn't play--and they aren't going to vote for cutler either. I think people are just finally realizing that, hey, Cutler must actually be pretty good when you look at the trainwreck the offense is without him.

Name one. I think he probably meant in the seahawks case that players are ignored and not given the positive credit they deserve. I would love it if Cutler was just ignored. I don't know how many players I have ever seen get the undeserved negative treatment Cutler does.

I have thought for years that Cutler is basically a version of Brett Favre as a player, but without the attention whoring. ESPN should love him. In fact, there was a play yesterday where cutler was being sacked and on the way down just whipped the ball forward to Forte. I think all it did was get them back to the line of scrimmage. If that was Favre, Berman would have gone on and on about "Brett just having fun out there." Of course Favre would have slapped the DT's ass on his way back to the huddle... which would have added to the fun I guess. I'm convinced that these days you need to do a ton of TV ads in order to be loved. I think a prime example of this is Aaron Rodgers, which from what I can tell, is actually kinda anti-social/thin skinned in his private life and yet a hero in the media because he plays well for the Packers and does the discount double check. Yeah. I would have loved to have seen the difference in reaction if Cutler had been the one complaining about the 60 minutes interview or putting blame on the practice squad for not preparing the starters enough.

that allen hit was very much the sort of thing that makes me feel guilty about watching football. Yeah. I wouldn't go so far as to say I would want the bears to engage in it. In fact, I like the fact that they are one of the better defenses and you never really see any dirty play out of them--or really even any borderline "maybe that wasn't dirty, but they were trying to make it tough for that player to get up" kind of hits. Last year, I was excited when they signed Brandon Meriweather... until I realized all he was good for was throwing his helmet into every play. Then I honestly hoped he was gone.

All of the times a ref blows a whistle to stop a play early, and forte's forward progress is not only stopped, but he is being bent backward for a couple of yards. damnit.

Same thing happened to me. The annoying thing is I have Sunday Ticket, but that channel is blacked out because it was on the local station today.

Yeah it really doesn't mater what he confidence of the Bears Fans is, that has nothing to do with how well the Bears play Now that I think about it I'm terrified of the Seahawks though, they've played us tough, beaten us 2 years in a row, and have a really good defense I am afraid of every game with how the bears can look at times, but I would be much more afraid if the game was in seattle.

I agree. As much as I wanted Stevens and Shaka, it may have been more because they were the hot names and you wanted them to want to come to your school and not turn you down. When they got groce instead, I started thinking it may have been the better fit in terms of his recruiting ability. Watching the Maui classic was so different than how they have looked in the past few years-- I had started to hate watching them. There was a quote by bilas during the championship game where he said something to the effect of "the illinois players show no fear." I feel like the past 5 years was all about playing scared. I saw a video of Tyler Griffey this morning talking about his 3-pointers in the championship game and he mentioned that he passed a few up early. When he was going back in from a timeout, Coach Ford told him if he hesitated, he was coming out. I really think Griffey needs this kind of approach. Such a different personality for the team this year.

Weird...thats the same thing he said last week. Guess a 31 point drubbing didn't affect his views. Well than what about the Bears having the best point differential in the lead? How about 5 of the Bears 7 wins being by 16 points or more (most in the NFL)? Simmons is just like any other analyst in that he stereotypes NFL teams, and those stereotypes are likely influenced by one or two particular games. For whatever reason the Lions and Panthers games have stuck in his head and have now defined the Bears in his mind. I understand that its nearly impossible for someone to have their finger on the pulse of all 32 teams at once, but at least do a little research before you go on the air. Maybe Barnwell can tell him whats up since Bill seems to get most of his NFL insights from him. I am pretty pessimistic when it comes to my teams and their chances, but it still pisses me off when the national media disrespects them for annoying reasons like this. Like you said, they have had more blowouts than seemingly every other team in the league, and yet, when the panthers keep it close against them it goes back to "well see the bears aren't that good." Never mind the fact that the Panthers have lost every game but 1 by less than a touchdown. And the teams that get tons of respect like the giants are seemingly in a close game every other week, but the bears are disrespected by being in a close game at the half with the Jags when they ended up winning by nearly 40.

It seems like he is constantly going out of his way to make it seem like Jay is a great leader, quarterback, teammate, etc. Literally every time he is being interviewed, his answers somehow include how great Cutler is for one reason or another. Most of the time, I feel like he is going overboard, but I think he knows the crap cutler gets is overboard, and he is trying to counteract that a bit.
