    This is why him being (arguably) the most complete SP prospect in the system is a problem. IMO, his upside isn't GREAT so much as his age/size/projectability/stuff/mechanics package is as strong and arguably stronger than anyone currently making an impact in the system. Not a bad prospect at all, but not someone you realistically see becoming a future elite. Again, for him that's great but for the Cubs there should be more than one type of guy like him.

    Of course. The Rays are a ray of sunshine for everyone out there (ts), but in AL East country there's alot of "wtf did you think would happen when you pick in the top 5 for a decade?" They've got a point...Price was hyped as the LHP Prior (prospect world is his Prior)) coming out of school...Longoria was arguably the best college prospect bat of the decade especially going into his draft year...Neimann was the most hyped of the Rice trio...Young was ridiculously hyped as a HS bat and landed them Garza, a guy who's performance matched the tools hype...Upton was the #2 overall pick and top HS prospect in a loaded 2002 HS crop (Kazmir, Hamels, Greinke, Fielder, Cain amongst the survivors). It irks me that so many Cub fans want to model them when we have the money to be a much more lasting presence...

    This is great to see. As the mid-back of the rotation type arms in this system go, Wood is one of the favorites to actually stick as a SP.

    Lawlz. Too bad that doesn't say two-out double, but I'll take it. Great to see from Burke. Athletic and LH with velocity and a breaking ball is always a good tool/skill set to have, and good to see he's taken well to pitching. So will Simpson actually pitch today? Excited to read about some Concepcion tommorrow...

    Thanks for that, some guys I haven't heard of like Wood and Traver. Cherry would be interesting just because he's so big and throws so hard. Definitely one of the more interesting arms there, but need more info obviously. Favorite there would be Mooneyham.

    OK, them not easily but still would take the Yankees. Better pitching as much as I like Holland. Not many (any?) 8th inning relievers I'd take over Robertson, and Robertson/Rivera is lights out to finish a game. Secretly I think I'm rooting for Detroit to take the AL from the Yankees and Rangers. I want to see Verlander in a WS in his prime, and Cabrera is my MVP pick.

    Being healthy would be a big deal for that lineup. ARod didn't even get 400 ABs last year and they put up more runs than they did in '09. They've discussed a rotating DH role for guys like ARod and Jeter to stay fresh throughout the summer. Teixeira could be the ~.840 hitter he's been the past two years, or he could beat his ancient age of 32 and finish closer to his career .903 OPS. The Granderson one is really the only one I regret-ish, because it won't be surprising to see him top .850...They're a well managed ballclub, and there's literally nothing crazy about thinking that offense can outproduce the past couple of seasons. Even the bench rolls deep with Ibanez, Jones, and Chavez leading the way as former studs turned role players in their latter career. That said, sure I'll concede the point because I don't have the overwhelming numbers on my side. Don't want to sound too meatheady! Still easily the best team in baseball with an extremely well built roster.

    One things right there...that team hasn't hurt for offense in a long, long time. Look for a big year from Teixeira as well...

    Meh guess we'll have to let this ride out. To your advantage is the age which will give more starts and ABs to lesser hitters over the course of a summer. I expect Swisher to have a big year...not .955 but a career high or close...Granderson can mash and will finish in the high .800s of not the .900s IMO...Cano hasn't started going yet...AROd and Tex (again) are slow starting it...Gardner keeps trucking...I can see why they dangled Montero for a young power arm, just a deep, well balanced, patient lineup. IMO easily the best team in baseball this year...Just annoyingly good.

    What makes you like Cole better? I'll be easy to convince since I really liked Cole, but I think Appel has the better breaking ball. Cole's change up is probably better, and was an underrated pitch. Not to mention that as good as Appel's fastball is...OK yeah...Cole was a bigger no doubter as the #1 pick as well. Would definitely take Stroman over Wacha as I'm starting to get familiar with the draft. Stroman would be fun to watch with that curveball of doom.

    If they do that sure, but Peoria isn't High A and he's not even there. It's not even meant as a knock on his talent, as he's the guy who's young, tall, hitting 95, and backing it with strong numbers. We need more of that is what I'm saying, at all ages, and all levels basically...There's that, and I'm also looking for the ARL stud...Guys like Vitters and Hoon Ha are showing nice skills being young for the level, but I want some more high end talent is all. Castro shows they have the guys in place to find stud talent, so hopefully we'll see more.

    And? Martin was there last year as well. That whole team looks like everyone is in the best shape of their lives, and they uphold the tradition of just wearing guys down. They just look better than usual, which is saying something given the names in the lineup. It's something you appreciate if you're actually watching them on a daily basis, I guess (watched way more Yankees than Cubs this year tbh, and it's pretty even in most years). Statistically they're averaging 6 runs a game while the past two have ~5.33-ish. Obviously that figure will come down eventually, but I do think they break the 5.5 mark this year. They're on pace to top 900 runs easy, and the talent is entirely capable of it.

    Chances Travis Jankowski is gone by 43? Does Brian Johnson get to start as a pro? His two pitch combo kind of reminds me of Gorzellany. Anyone else get a Ben Sheets vibe from Stroman? Nasty two pitch combo with the power fastball/curveball thing. I have zero issues with Stroman at 6 if it were to actually happen.

    Good to hear...I've heard good things about his glove. What's his batting stance look like? Do you have a camera on you? Thought he had an interesting one during his call up with the Padres, and I'd like to see if there's any changes.

    Iunno, hard throwing sinker is always appealing...It'd depend on how many groundballs he's getting but for a sinkerballer he's been pretty good at getting K's in the minors (almost 1 per inning). That said, yeah back to the Cubs.

    Kelly as in Casey Kelly? Good arm...one of my favorite in SP prospects out there. Sucks they're not beating his brains out. How has Vitters looked at the plate? Edit: No, not Casey Kelly.
