I'm fine giving him basically whatever he wants tbh. 2020 was awful, yes, but 30 games. Drives me insane when watching a national broadcast and you get the impression he hasn't been good since 2016. I need any re-set to include keeping Bryzzo, especially if Jed's recent comments about the big money being available soon are true. And hopefully the DH after this season would help both as they age a bit. Totally fine cashing in on Kimbrel if we still suck or middling in June/July. Same for Javy. The approach isn't cute anymore and obviously a great SS FA class. Even guys like Iglesias and Simmons would be good fits w their contact ability and defense. I'd also understand moving Contreras for a haul.
Oh, so they are actually bad. With the lack of creativity lately they'll somehow manage to bring back the exact same team next season, minus Bryant and Kimbrel after winning 75 games
He signed a minor league contract. Brett has said per the Athletic apparently he has an optout sometime in April. Presumably he'll replace Maples or Brothers then if there's no injured pitcher.
I just can't believe that once again after a bunch of roster maneuverings Maples appears to be safe. I would've just gotten on with it and gone right to Miller or Megill. That feels destined to happen within the first month after Maples has a couple low leverage, 3 BB outings.
I kinda like this team overall. I'm not expecting a juggernaut or anything but I think some in the local media are overestimating how likely it is this team will sell in July. I'm expecting a big bounce back from the stars, and while the overall return is still a little odd to me, Davies is a good pitcher.
In a world with PTR doing his thing, Ildemaro Vargas is actually a little more interesting than I realized for 2b reps (and I do mean a little). I don't think I cared enough to look him up last year when we acquired him.
I'll always love Jon, and I enjoyed the Gordo article. Buuut I'm ready to move on from Lester's handful of 2 innings, 8 earned runs outings. He just absolutely gives you no chance in some of his starts these days.
The Angels could probably use both. I'd like to think we could get some mlb ready pieces in return but I'm ready to be underwhelmed again. Given the timing and fairly immediate nature of the rumors for KB and Willson, it is starting to feel to me like they're going to the same team.
I could be wrong, but I'd imagine the Padres are going to pay a decent amount of it. Possibly, but two years of Wil Myers, even if cheap, isn't overly valuable to us after trading one of the best pitchers in baseball.
People everywhere are reading too much into the 10 year thing. I think Theo just got tired of his bosses' meddling in Boston. Not saying he won't leave soon, but it'd be due to other factors. Also there's no way he leaves $5+ million on the table for the 2021 season. I don't anticipate big changes to the roster, aside from maybe trading Contreras for pretty good value. Hoping for a bounce back from the infield + 2 legitimate top of rotation arms will be the storyline going into next year imo.
Yeah with the start he's off to, Chatwood's upside in the rotation is too great, and I trust Mills enough personally. I don't think it'd necessarily be a permanent thing, but Quintana's stuff could be good enough in short spurts to make a difference this year
Is he all of a sudden not going to play a [expletive] of games at Petco and Dodger Stadium and AT&T? Wrigley's shitty to hit in a lot of days and PNC and Busch are giant monstrosities as well.
lol I keep thinking about when the Cubs supposedly sent boatloads of people to the winter meetings ready to WHEEL AND DEAL. Now here we are with Steven Souza Jr and Jason Kipnis
