I'm on team Derwood here. If two wins are relatively meaningless, then so is the individual performance within those games. The bullpen could easily throw up some clunkers in the next week and make people feel worse about them. I'd rather bank those wins.

You keep forgetting to mention, though, this is happening to get arguably the best defensive second baseman in the majors in the lineup. I'll take the Almora heyward of with zobrist at 2b against this OF with Baez at 2b. Given the SP was Anderson, I thought the alignment tonight was appropriate.

hahahaha, I was randomly looking at depth charts and saw the Padres rotation. Their 1-3 on their official mlb.com page is Jhoulys Chacin, Clayton Richard, and Jared Weaver.

Have there been any quotes from the FO stating where Happ will start the season? I was assuming he'd still go to AA, but Iowa seems like a possibility with how long he's stuck around.

Hosmer might be the 4th best 1st baseman on the roster if you also count Posey and Murphy in addition to Goldschmidt. -
So I'm pretty convinced Javy is better than Heyward, not to mention the centerfielders. I mean it'll all work itself out, but I don't know how you keep him out of the lineup with the amount of groundballs in our starting rotation.

I don't think other teams' fans and national broadcast type people fully understand how good Contreras will be. As far as breakouts, Russell will be a popular pick, as he was an elite prospect over multiple offseasons, and obviously everyone is expecting big things from Schwarber for a full season. But they'll look up in July and realize we have like the second best catcher in baseball and be like, "horsefeathers, they have him too?"
