  1. Speaking of ESPN, former Cub, Doug Glanville, also works there. I thought I remembered hearing he's a pretty big stats guy.
  2. This makes me sad. I'll miss him for sure. Though I do think Len could carry a broadcast even with a weak partner. I would imagine Kerry will get asked? The travel and time away from home would probably turn him off though.
  3. I'm confused by this ARod stuff. Girardi is seeming extremely reactionary by benching him early in the playoffs after he was their #3 hitter going into the postseason. And now he's continuing to do it. I'll be surprised if he's a Yankee next season.
  4. What does Matt Holliday think about when he's on defense? It's almost as if he forgets he's there.

I think Victorino and Melky will be cheap. Upton, I tend to think he gets 65+. Likely +.

Anthony Rizzo alone makes that statement ridiculous. The implosion of CF cancels out the improvement at 1b. And to think Marlon Byrd was looking to be such a long term solution. I know people like to disagree with Kyle (myself included at times) but he's absolutely right here about CF. CF, going into 2013, cannot be counted on to be fixed in-house. Byrd has nothing to do with that. Instead, our top prospect for the last couple years took a huge step backwards and is no longer the nearly sure thing to be a big league regular. I still have some hope Jackson can fix is swing and head, but I was pretty sure he'd be the centerfielder of the future this time last season. That thought is very questionable, at the very least, right now.

Are we going to completely ignore the last four months of the season? Were the first two months deemed exhibitions retroactively or something? But fine. In the last four months, he threw 43 IP, struck out 59, walked 27, and gave up 3 HRs. That BB rate still makes him barely serviceable. No, but your statement seemed as if the last four months didn't count. He was better for a longer period of time than he sucked last season. He's always walked guys, but he also gets a lot of K's and doesn't give up many hits. You know this. xFIP by month last season April - 7.54 May - 7.77 June - 3.65 July - 3.54 Aug - 2.57 Sep - 3.95 Plus he found his velocity after the DL stint. Is he Kimbrel? Absolutely not. Is he a mop-up guy? For a majority of the season, he did not pitch like one.

  9. TRUTH. tags still on their jerseys Oh Lord, really? You're bagging on people not being diehards of a terrible new team when there was already an established one in the area? Not bagging. Just not feeling sorry for the people crying in the crowd.
  10. I can only laugh anymore. Of course Pete Kozma and Daniel Descalso are doing this. That said, I don't have a ton of sympathy for the brand new, fairweather Nats fans.
  11. The offseason just got more fun. Javy can be the bridge from now until the hot stove season.
  12. He's basically BJ Upton. If he stays healthy, there's a decent chance he'd be our best player, though I do think Starlin puts up a 4-5 WAR next season.
  13. I did not. I did, however, hear Mark Mulder's response to that question on ESPN. Something like he didn't look at WAR when he played, so it doesn't matter now.
  14. Why do you want them to win these games? 100 losses is an arbitrary number that impacts their future in no way. Draft slot and IFA money is an actual thing that will be impacted (however slightly) by the results of this game. Pretty much. Theo was totally talking out of his rear end when he said how much he wants to avoid 100 losses. You know once they made the decision to sell (and probably before then) they wanted to take advantage of these new rules as much as possible.
  15. He's had an illness and Sappelt is interesting enough to get some starts. De la Rosa is also really tough against lefties. Also Jackson can't hit. Even you wouldn't be against him getting regular AB's if he were fully healthy in the Cubs current situation. I cannot even imagine how much Jackson will be talked about during the offseason on this board.

  17. Looks like Mr. Rowson is here to stay then.
  18. How's the weather looking? I'll fall asleep well before this is over, but I'd like to catch a few innings.
  19. I bet Marcum gets one too. The Brewers were willing to take a chance on K-Rod last offseason.
  20. Javy gets intentionally walked in his 4th PA, so he doesn't get a chance for another homer. Nice way to end the season by him.
  21. Make that 2 homeruns for Baez today.
  22. Agreed. I suppose their similarities are that they both have excellent hit tools and both have surprising power considering their slender size. But Braun's surprising power equates to 40+ homers in the majors while I was under the impression Almora's max would be 15-20. Defensively they aren't similar at all. Yeah, not a great comp to me, but that is still awesome to hear.
  23. Baez bomb in his second AB! K'd his first AB
  24. Ryan Bruan upside? Not sure I see it, but wow. Thanks for sharing. Nice info.
  25. Rizzo has a .798 OPS after that BB. That is something to root for, I suppose.
