  1. I was so excited when we brought him over with the Ichiro/Hideki Matsui hybrid comps. YES, THIS. That's remember hearing more than once; I think SI did a pretty big write up about him basically saying the same thing, too. And then Tanaka gets labeled a mid-rotation starter. Who labelled Tanaka mid-rotation starter?? Didn't Cashman call him a 4 after they signed him?
  2. Huh? Starlin Castro hasn't really been bad for a month; the week of 7/6 - 7/13 is bringing those numbers down. He had maintained an ~.800 OPS for awhile before that week.
  3. His OPS was over .800 I think during the Red Sox series, so it's been more like a bad week. A really bad one, but a week nonetheless.
  4. Schierholtz really just needs to be DFA'd. He has even less trade value than Barney.
  5. If you were the Marlins, would you be looking at a deal with Almora as the centerpiece? Addison/Alcantara, Almora, and Schwarber for Stanton. Plz God.. If the Marlins would have traded him for Correa/Springer, the Cubs wouldn't need a 3rd piece as good as Schwarber. Russell/Almora is fairly comparable, maybe add a 2nd tier guy like Black or Villanueva. post 2014 Almora isn't on the level of post 2013 Correa or Springer. I don't think Almora has the upside (or the numbers this year) to even be the second piece for Stanton.
  6. Joey Gallo has a 42.2% K rate in 116 plate appearances at AA. He still has a .446 wOBA, but damn that's a lot of strikeouts.
  7. Kane County's about to go 60-30 on the year. Hannemann homered and Schwarber went 1-3 with a BB
  8. Javy just struck out for the 110th time this year...to 28 walks. I'm scared. Hold me.
  9. The bat snap is the best part of Lake's AB's. I hope he keeps doing it.
  10. I loathed Alfonseca, and the 2008 Bob Howry. Loved everything about that team except him.
  11. They'll probably use the AAA ASG as an excuse, but getting sent down to play in it isn't much of a reward.
  12. We deserve this after that BS ruling last night.
  13. I'm getting annoyed by how good Cozart is defensively.
  14. Let's keep the third best position player on the roster, please.
  15. the second to last one looked almost directly over the plate - not complaining though! It looked that way because we aren't used to watching good catchers.
  16. Rizzo's going to intentionally Buckner a ground ball to blow Chapman's save in the AS Game
  17. Rizzo's great, but if Starlin would have tried to catch a forceout at 2nd base like Rizzo did at 1st, the "lazy" and "loses focus" narratives would be everywhere (well maybe not everywhere, as it's a noon weekday game and we suck, but you get the idea).
  18. I halfway wonder if Lake or Olt get sent down instead of Alcantara when Barney comes back. Or, quite honestly, a Schierholtz DFA might make the most sense. We're beyond the point of getting anything in a trade for him and no way he comes back next year. If they're trying to trade Barney, they probably want him playing mostly everyday, but if Schierholtz is gone, AA can play center. But that's probably just me hoping more than anything. Still seems a little odd to call up a good prospect for two games.
  19. I think there's a pretty good chance Wada pitches better than Wood these next three months. I like his fastball and change/forkball combo better than Wood's 85 mph cutter and questionable offspeeds.
  20. Trea Turner is off to a .205/.313/.265/.578 start through 83 AB's in the NWL.
  21. Time to mix in one of those 15 95 mph fastballs.
  22. Shush it, JD. Rizzo didn't take off right when that pitch was dropped. Castro probably gets caught if he tries for 2nd; I love him, but he's not as fast as people like to think.
  23. He took Brett Jackson's #7. He's going to suck for sure.
