Anyone see Baseball Tonight last night when Pedro Gomez was part of the show for some reason? He mentioned how it would be hard to trade Castro because of his big contract and he said he preferred the Mets' plan of rebuilding because he's a "pitching guy." I guess those are fair arguments if Castro remains replacement level, and the Mets DO have some nasty pitching and a better record, but I thought that was funny they're treating him as an 'expert' now and not just Bonds' spy (I haven't heard much from him since Barry retired).
If he's not immediately going to Chicago to join the pen, that would seem to point to him taking Wood's rotation spot, right? Wood could be a pretty good LOOGY if given the chance. Lefties have a .265 wOBA against him this year and .276 last year despite the overall struggles.
Ross has a .407 OBP and an .836 OPS. I get being frustrated Montero doesn't play more, but we need to stop with the Ross hate for awhile. Yeah he gets walks hitting ahead of Lester, but Coghlan hits ahead of the other four pitchers and has an OBP well below .300.
Benintendi isn't someone I've been paying attention to, but holy cow, give me that guy. .405 avg, 16 HRs, 34/25 BB/K, 20-23 SB's as a centerfielder in the SEC. Yes, please. What are your thoughts on him, Raisin?
