  1. Medina and Edwards can't throw strikes, so most likely.
  2. I would like this baserunner to attempt a stolen base.
  3. If we don't score more than one run this inning, I'd like to see Schwarber catch the 9th.
  4. If we give up a few more runs, I wonder if Joe lets Schwarber catch.
  5. That ejection resulted in an upgrade for the Indians' lineup.
  6. Did they ever show a side view of this? Looked like a swing from the CF cam, and it turned out to be a pretty big call.
  7. Damn. It's gonna be another long night for the bullpen, and we have Wada going tomorrow.
  8. Starlin's OPS will be back over .700 in no time.
  9. Arrieta is having a Rich Harden-like start with the pitch count, strikeouts, and walks.
  10. Don't Montero and Bauer hate each other?
  11. And he didn't throw over at all last year. And 7 times the year before and 5 times the year before that. I remember watching at least a couple nationally broadcasted games where he was starting over the last couple of years where the announcers or the reporter talking about him not being "comfortable" throwing over, so I highly doubt this was a thing teams didn't realize. Again, I'm not saying overall he doesn't stink at it, but is it really a serious problem as opposed to mostly just being a problem with Billy Hamilton? If Hamilton doesn't exist are we even discussing this? The idea that it was a forgone conclusion that whatever team had to sign him would also have to sign Ross bugs me a lot more. What storied history do these guys have? Before this year they played, what, two seasons together over the years? I don't think it's a serious problem. I just don't think it's a total non-issue. I'd be curious to see if he can field a ball and throw to 2nd to turn a DP. I have a feeling he'd decide to under-hand to 1st base instead. Again, not huge, but it could cost us at some point. I have a feeling this Ross stuff was totally Theo's idea to make his old buddy feel comfortable in a new place. Maybe I'm giving Lester too much credit, but I don't think he demanded signing Ross or anything like that. But I could be way off.
  12. To me, this is similar to front offices learning about pitch framing about the same time fans did. You'd think Theo would've beaten the general population to that info, but it looks like he caught on about when we did. You'd think other teams would've known about Lester's yips before this season, and maybe some had an idea, but I think it's clearly more well-known and more of an issue now. He went through a long stretch of never throwing to 1st. At least then there was the possibility that he COULD pick someone off and was just doing the whole Maddux thing and not caring. Now, it's clear that he can't. He has two throws this season - a lob that was not on line to the base, and a harder throw that was 30 feet away from Rizzo. He hasn't thrown over since. The meatballs are taking this to the extreme that this now means he's not nearly the pitcher we thought he was. I can't help but think the people who are saying it's no issue at all are just wanting to take the other side. It matters a little. He's still a really good pitcher who, when he's on, doesn't give up many baserunners. And when he does, he's quick to the plate. Those two things help, but it stinks that a fast runner is essentially gifted 3rd base if no one is ahead of him and an OK runner has an easier time sealing 2nd. Whether it's a playoff game or just another game in general, it could have an affect.
  13. Yep, I bet he hits 4th, or 5th behind Montero. This is a Bryant-level bat, and Maddon wasn't scared about putting Kris directly into the cleanup spot.
  14. Petition to move this game to Cleveland so Schwarber can play.
  15. Even though the Royals just played the Cubs, I don't think I fully noticed how awful Infante has been this year. .496 OPS, yikes.
  16. 1)This should give Starlin some slack with the meatballs I would think. 2)That bullpen managing should be a fireable offense.
  17. Schlitter has now pitched 7 innings this season. It seems like so many more.
  18. He should probably be pitching in this game.
  19. I think he's too fast and too good at defense to not stay in the Majors.
  20. Heck of a framer, not much of an arm back there.
  21. Could've had Hammel bat, but I won't fault Maddon for doing everything to end it without many high leverage pitchers available.
