  1. I believe so. I guess there could be different rules in place for walk ons, but I kinda doubt it. My thinking is CJ will play about 3 minutes per game and leave.
  2. By being white and cheap.
  3. Sergio Romo makes Carlos Zambrano look introverted.
  4. Jason fuckin Bartlett
  5. Renteria's a moron
  6. YOU'RE QUOTING THIS IN THE [expletive] THREAD YOU [expletive] STARTED ABOUT HOW FUKUDOME SHOULD BE SENT TO THE MINORS AND THEN IN THE SAME [expletive] GAME THAT THE WHITE GUY DID SOMETHING HIT A DOUBLE AND A HOME RUN ARE YOU [expletive] KIDDING ME?
  7. Who's at 2B? And why is he still there?
  8. According to K zone, Wainwright didn't throw a strike that AB.
  9. And you just assume the players Brenly would want (which aren't necessarily anyone they could get) would be good? Not hard to best the group of bums he just mentioned. I think Brenly is very baseball smart and he certainly knows what the expectations are here. After the ownership issue is settled, I'd can Lou and give Bob a chance. Well, you clearly just have an old school way of looking at things that favors giving away outs. For years the Cubs have been built to slug the ball at the expense of being a smart and fundamentally sound team. I want a smart team that can move a runner from second to third with no one out Oh, I want a team that scores runs. Or ya know, gets on base.
  10. My gut instinct was they were staying at KU, but Carl wanted to let Self know not to [expletive] with him. I think the interesting part no matter where they go is what either coach does with CJ. From all accounts he doesn't deserve any legit minutes right away but Dad seems to think he's 1 and done. Is this just more blustering from the dad, or does he honestly believe this crap. I wouldn't be shocked to see CJ moving on to a new school for 2010 no matter where he lands this year.
  11. Oh, you mean a manager who is aggressive and plays smart baseball? That's a problem? Lots of sac bunts, steals, and hits and runs is not smart baseball. It's usually dumb baseball.
  12. Snood, anything going to happen with Henry, or is this just the dad being a jackass?
  13. I can't wait til we pick up 3 pitchers and David Patton remains on the team.
  14. One of them was a solo HR and the other was a 2 run HR while they were down by 5. There's no reason to not pitch to him in those situations.
  15. This thread happened last year too.
  16. The Cubs front office is full of arrogant old school baseball types that think they found a hidden gem in Patton and are going to prove it to the world no matter how much it sabotages this year's team.
  17. Do you have to be contrarian about everything? Did you mean to quote gooney? I don't see why it's outrageous to point that Gaudin has been pretty bad this year, and it turns out cutting him loose was probably a decent idea. The fact that they replaced him with Patton is the issue, not that they dumped Gaudin.
  18. Chad Gaudin has not been good this year. David Patton's a waste of space, but it's not because his spot would be better served by having Chad Gaudin in it.
  19. Who was the third? I thought the deal was just Aramis, Lofton and cash for Hernandez, Hill and Bruback. I think he's thinking of Randall Simon who came over for Ray Sadler in a separate trade.
  20. Omar Minaya laughs at this notion. He can't even get into the playoffs with a consistent top 5 payroll in all of the MLB and he has 3 of the ten or so best players in the majors. As bad as Omar is, he has a .550 winning percentage compared to Hendry's .519. I thought only post-season success matters? You are right, in the end that's the only thing that matters. Neither GM has succeeded in the post season. Which is why I keep telling people we need Joe Gariagiola Jr. for GM, but nobody's listening. WTF
  21. Here's RedVerbs's expert analysis from last year:
  22. It's a fluke. He's a terrible baseball player.
  23. Yeah, remind me what everyone's pissed at Bradley about here? That he is pissed about playing poorly?
