    Zack Randolph is actually a pretty good comp for what Cousin's career could look like. It's like Bill Simmons wrote in an article, " I don't want to be the guy drafts Cousins, but I'd love to be the guy that trades for him in 6 years." Weren't there like 15 guys who were the guy who traded for Randolph this past offseason?

    Explain how Dempster is overpaid. Cause he's not a true #1. Dempster is more of a 2, whereas Zambrano is a 2 and a half, Lilly is a 3 factorial, and Wells is the derivative of e^x

    what? Is this somehow true? If so I like Bengie more now. The idea of somebody playing for the sole purpose of blocking a prospect is just terrific. I still prefer Billy Koch refusing to sign with another team for the sole purpose of preventing the Blue Jays from saving a couple hundred thousand on his contract. Also, he went to the games and rooted against them.

    Are we still pretending that the Nationals are hopelessly terrible? They're not as bad as they've been the past couple years, but they're not good.

    The majors are supposed to be about the players, not you Bengie. Bengie's always been a jerk, that's why his wife left him cause all he cared about was himself. It's nice to be important, Bengie, but it's more important to be nice.

    agreed on the sixers being good... the knicks being bad is fun but i understand it's not great for the nba. i'm just glad the sixers have a high pick; they've been in draft purgatory (end of lottery) every year. Call me crazy, but the Knicks being horrendous the past 10 years or so has been [expletive] awesome for the nba. Being a team based in NY doesn't entitle you to be really good.

    What? Why? How we can be sure the fire has been lit? He didn't exactly look inspiring out of the pen. Perhaps we should've left him in the rotation then. We also can't afford that price for him to pitch on another team, cause there's no chance in hell you can trade Zambrano if he isn't a good starter. Well, no, but those guys are really old.

    Very true, I just have little to no interest in limping into the playoffs and getting swept in three games again. To me, that winds up being about as fulfilling as having missed the playoffs by a few games. Go big or go home, as they say. I have a lot of interest in limping into the playoffs. It means we have a 1 and 8 chance of winning the World Series. And a 100% chance of being in the playoffs, which is always better than not.

    Now Diamond is somebody I could get behind a move to the rotation in preparation for a promotion. (I say this ignorant of what pen usage would do to Diamond considering his previous injury history)

    I'm probably overreacting, but I see a team who identifies some dumbass need and obsessses over it every year. This year it's an 8th inning pitcher, if they ever actually find a guy who works in the 8th inning, he's never going to get out of that spot.

    I hope not. There is almost no evidence that Beal is reconsidering. I know his family doesn't want him at UF, but he's been very solid on his commitment. I'd be surprised if he didn't take a long hard look at wherever Rivers winds up. Though, I guess the clock is ticking on signing day. I know Rivers is visiting other schools besides Duke, but is there really any chance he ends up anywhere else? I don't think so. And I don't think Beal ends up at Duke. I think Rivers ends up at Duke as well, but I was thinking one more trip out as an open recruit, even if it's to a school he won't wind up at can give Beal some second thoughts.

    Mine is "a hip, emmy-winning daily scrapbook of homers, touchdowns, and slam-dunks" I thought that was a pretty accurate description. Well, except for hip.

    But is it really necessary to do it at the AAA level other than to prove to the idiots in charge that he has the "mindset" to be an 8th inning guy? It's annoying enough that Sean Marshall is going to be a reliever for the rest of his career with the Cubs. Now we're going to do it to one of our best pitching prospects?
