  1. Can we consider Bobby Valentine a star please?
  2. I wonder if expansion was in Delaney's head back when he started the Big Ten Network
  3. He's not Sandberg, but we didn't hire Joe Girardi, who actually had experience with the '06 Marlins(who everyone thought would be terrible, but wasn't) in '07.
  4. If this report is true, I think Texas is the reason for 4 teams being invited to an 11 team league. If all accept, you've got one spot left for Texas, as it stares down a 10 team league. If ND declines(cause why in the hell would the other 3) then you've got Texas and A&M for spots 15 and 16.
  5. But what's the solution? As long as there are rules in place, the teams that are skirting them are gaining an unfair advantage over those that are following them. This is what came up time and time regarding Kelvin Sampson.(before it was revealed that pretty much nobody on that IU team went to class due to their debilitating cocaine habits) It was just phone calls, you're gonna get upset over phone calls!?? Gimme a break!!! The point was there was an advantage gained due to the extra phone calls. An advantage that he had over other schools because they followed the rules as set out by the NCAA. It was compounded by the fact that Sampson was a repeat offender, and was already sanctioned for the same reason when he committed the violation, but all it really amounted to was extra phone calls. Is this a big deal in a vaccuum? Of course not. Was it something that should have been punished? Absolutely.
  6. It was my point. You just stole it.
  7. Burn in hell Rutgers
  8. I think it's obvious why you, the USC fan, are always running in to bitch whenever people say other schools are skirting the rules.
  9. I totally agree with you. If the Cubs play .538 ball the rest of the way they end up 84-78 and have a decent shot at the Wild Card. Now I agree that they have sucked this season, but you can't tell me that they can't play .538 ball assuming ARam and DLee start hitting. ARam might have a "down" year, but he's not going to stay in "Aaron Miles land" the whole season. He might. Some guys simply fall off of a cliff after a major injury. I obviously hope that's not the case, but it's certainly not outside of the realm of possibility. He did hit .304/.381/.496 after returning last year. The ISO's a little lower, but there were no signs that he'd be anything less than an above average hitter Weirder things have happened. Well yeah, it's possible Ramirez has fallen off a cliff, never to return to his previous levels. But I'm having a hard time blaming that on an injury from which he's already retrurned from and had a productive half seaso.
  10. Sandberg's gonna get a standing ovation and chants of RY-NO RY-NO RY-NO when he gets ejected from his first game on April 12th. As to how the fans will react to him when we finish 75-87, I'm not sure.
  11. Texas couldn't even find the time to send their AD. And why did Baylor, Texas Tech, and Iowa State even bother sending their ADs?? They wanted to make sure they have all their bases covered for how they'll be left out in the cold?

  14. Aramis is pretty stupid if he decided to take time off in a season where he could opt out and get paid.
  15. There were like 2 people who thought that 2006 team had a chance. Once Lee went down, that was the season. 2005, IIRC was constant hopes that Prior/Wood/Nomar would get healthy This year, it's hoping that Derrek Lee and Aramis Ramirez's careers aren't over.
  16. And I'm not saying the Cubs are likely to win the wild card, but it's not as dire a situation as everyone's making it out to be, pretty much primarily because the NL is awful.
  17. It's not. Unless the Cardinals seriously stumble or this team as a drastic turnaround they're not going to be in contention to ever overtake them. And forget about the WC. Well, the NL is terrible. Who's the frontrunner for the wild card? The Mets? The Giants? The Giants could be deadly in October. Would you want to face a rotation of Lincecum, Cain, and the resurgent Zito? I'd like to wait more than a month before I consider Zito resurgent. And how good a team they'll be in October has nothing to do with their strength over a full season. That is one horrendous offense.
  18. There is. I'd be willing to bet though that if you're a fan of Illinois basketball you'd be just as for him going there and bringing Brandon Knight and some other top recruits with him. Maybe i'm wrong though. You're wrong. I don't want Illinois basketball to get the death penalty Last time i checked UMASS and Memphis were still playing. Yeah and Memphis did more than spend $10 on a pizza, but they weren't placed on probation for 2 years either.

  21. I think you're mistaken if you think the majority of fans that come to Wrigley(or most any ballpark) are hardcore fans that will follow the team anywhere. Wrigley (and the neighborhood) is an experience even for those who are big time baseball fans. You said so yourself, they wouldn't be able to get away with charging more for tickets. How exactly is a new stadium going to increase revenues?
  22. So it's hypocritical to criticize him for paying college kids under the table, whereas not feeling that paying guys in the pros is okay? I'm pretty sure he's never been accused of paying college kids under the table. Well, no, he's not writing checks out of his personal bank account.
  23. Maybe this is exactly why everyone said you shouldn't judge who goes to the pen based on 3 [expletive] starts
  24. Somebody ought to insist that ARam start working with Jaramillo or spend some time on the bench. I understand these ML hitters think they can work it out themselves, but it certainly wouldn't hurt at this point to start taking some advice. ARam is working with Rudy. Seems the media that jumped all over that story about Aramis refusing help was, well, dead wrong. I refuse to believe that Steve Stone and Dave Kaplan can be horribly wrong about something.
  25. Celtics won with Ray Allen shooting 1-8 from 3pt range and Paul Pierce scoring 9 points. 29 points, 18 rebounds, 13 assists for Rondo. I don't know what else to say.
