  1. What the hell is wrong with you? it's just hard for me to see iowa as a rival anymore. It doesn't mean you should wish them anything but locusts
  2. If Gorz finished the inning in the same manner, those runs would be unearned. When Marshall and Zambrano entered the game, the situation is essentially reset, the # of outs they have when they enter, is the # of outs that there "should be"
  3. What the hell is wrong with you?
  4. http://www.cbssports.com/collegebasketball/story/13033792 There's the full list of early entrants/those who applied and came back
  5. What is that supposed to mean exactly?
  6. Give him a code red
  7. That's lunacy.
  8. As for the power numbers, no kidding, thats why I said 'they bring different things to the table'. But he could certainly match or surpass some of Heyward's #'s, like avg and obp. For the record, I don't think Castro will get more ROY votes then JHey, but thats why I asked if anyone else thought it would be possible. If Castro ends up with a respectable avg, good obp, gg-type defense, and is a league leader in something like triples, stolen bases or something, I could see the media drinking the kool-aid. He plays a premium position, afterall. that doesn't really matter to the voters. ryan braun won the RoY in 2007 even though tulowitzki had good offense and great defense at a premium position. braun had great offense but he gave away almost 30 runs with his defense. tulo was clearly the better player that year and he didn't win the award. i don't think heyward will OPS over 1.000 but he's got to be the runaway favorite at this point. Braun over Tulo had a lot more to do with voters not knowing how to properly evaluate Coors stats
  9. Agreed. This team has a legit chance to make a final 4 run IMO. This was absolutely the right call for DMac, and I bet he'll be a 1st rounder next year.
  10. I've got an idea. Spend 300M to build a new stadium in an inconvenient location that will undoubtedly lower the appeal of the team to the common fan, and thus worsen the franchise as a whole.
  11. Hollinger would put up whatever his statistical rankings say he should put up. And there's not anything wrong with that necessarily. He's the sort of guy that could be transported back to 1997 and would claim that Terrell Brandon is a better basketball player than Allen Iverson. What I'm saying is if you think Rajon Rondo can carry a team like Derrick Rose can then you're not watching the same sport I am. Those aren't PER ratings
  12. do we really see it that often in the first place? it happens, what, 3 times out of 4680 games per year? if that. It's happened like 3 times this week.
  13. You guys are missing my point. The Bulls had an incredible talent that the Bulls don't win any of those 6 titles without, but he's just "Jordan's sidekick" LBJ would just be "that guy that won 1 title when Jordan was able to win 6" He's not coming to Chicago. I figured you Jordan sycophants would understand what it's like to try and outdo him more than anyone.
  14. We should trade him for Cesar Izturis. I hope Steve Stone gets eaten by a lemur.
  15. These are very comparable situations. They're not? Jordan's gone. To the younger generation of NBA fans around right now he's just a guy from old highlight clips. Why is it realistic that the Lakers and Celtics could get great players to come play for them despite arguably being defined by previous dynasties and some of the greatest players of all time, but it's not for the Bulls? Because by the time the NBA became "THE NBA", the Celtics and Lakers already had a host of iconic stars. The Bulls 2nd best player of all time is still just "Jordan's sidekick"
  16. These are very comparable situations.
  17. Soriano started hitting and Zambrano doesn't play enough to be relevant.
  18. I'd imagine Wakamatsu/Jack Z called the meeting. Our management was too busy calling him a piece of [expletive]. Poor, poor misunderstood Milton. Its everybody's fault but his. This seems like an odd reaction to someone coming to his bosses and teammates asking for help. It looks like he's placing the blame squarely on himself. MILTON finally is, which is great. I hope he gets the help he needs now. However, others are not. They would rather use Milton to take cheap shots at Cubs management in a very Rosenbloom-esque style. There are plenty of good reasons to criticize Cubs management. This one is just kind of pathetic. So you think it was a good idea for Lou to call him a piece of [expletive]??
  19. I always assumed LeBron wanted to make his own path. Having a statue next to Jordan? Who cares about that. LeBron would be the man now and forever in Cleveland, New York, or New Jersey. Being 1B at best in Chicago? What kind of legacy is that? Hope you can win at least 6 titles LeBron, or you'll never be "as good as MJ"
  20. That's not really that bad a roster back then.
  21. obviously you want rickey henderson in the leadoff spot, but unless your leadoff hitter is remarkably gifted, he's not going to hit for a high average, take walks and hit for very little power. Including Rickey Henderson. Re: Corey Patterson, grooming him to "become a leadoff hitter" was the worst thing that could've happened to him on the major league level. Same with Pie. They were obsessed with making them into slap hitting Juan Pierres, rather than letting them actually drive the ball. I mean after all they were fast black CFs, who needs power out of them. [expletive] Willie Mays, I want Willie Wilson
  22. John Hollinger apparently has the same mental illness that I do. His personal point guard rankings 1. Williams 2. Nash 3. (Keeping it warm for Paul) 4. Rondo 5. Billups Honorable mention: Rose, Westbrook, Parker, Nelson.
  23. The Big 12's TV contract is just awful. Their TV deal is up within a year or 2 I believe, but as was outlined on http://frankthetank.wordpress.com/, a blog that's been incredible on the expansion issue(I swear I said Texas and ND on here before I read it on there) there really aren't a lot of place where the Big 12 can get their money from. ABC/ESPN is locked into spots with the Big Ten and SEC. CBS has the SEC. NBC has Notre Dame, FOX has baseball, and just gave up the BCS. There's just not a big buyer out there.
